We aren’t allowed to send patients their blood results before they’re seen by the provider. I’m so confused by this???

Does anyone else’s clinic make them do this? They say if the patient absolutely insists then we can just send it. But I don’t want to have to get to a point where a patient is frustrated and starts yelling at me so I can send it to them. If they ask for their results, why can’t I just send it?

Another reason they cite is that some patients are old and freak out over results. But I still think this rule makes no sense and the provider can just reassure them if they have any concerns during their appointment.

I heard people get injuries from using FG on AG. Should I use indoor boots for my game tomorrow?

Hello, just the title. My game tomorrow is on turf and I’m delaying investing in AG boots until I find what works for me. In the meantime, should I just use indoor boots for my upcoming game to prevent injury?

Question about intramural sports

Hey guys, I’m trying to sign up for intramural soccer for the fall but saw that it’s completely empty. Not only that but every other sport is too. Am I missing something here??

Are body weight exercises enough?

Hey all,

I’m a returning soccer player (played in childhood) that’s out of shape. I wanted to know if doing body weight exercises twice a week is enough strength training for casual, moderately competitive once a week playing, or if the gym is more recommended. The goal here is to build enough muscle to where I’m not injuring myself playing for the whole game.

Currently I am only able to do 5 push ups on my own (21F 150 lbs), if that gives an idea of my physicality right now.

Any insight is appreciated, thanks!

21F lower back, pinching pain after playing soccer

Hey everyone,

I’ve been having a pinching low back pain since I started playing soccer about a week ago. It only comes when I get up as an example. Any movement I do with my back I feel that light pinch. Any insight would really be appreciated. I’m hoping this is just a muscle strain because I really don’t wanna be pinching on some nerves or something.

21F want to get back into playing football (played as a kid, stopped as a teenager). How do I get into shape?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to get back into playing soccer. I used to play casually (rec leagues) as a kid and with my family. I have the very basics of technique down like passing, dribbling, shooting, but I’m completely out of shape (live a pretty sedentary lifestyle outside of running).

I found a once a week rec league that I want to join. What’s the best way to get back into shape so I don’t get tired for games, and so I don’t injure myself?

I plan on working 13 hrs a week as an MA while being a full time student. I'm taking orgo & microbio among other classes next semester. Am I going to be overworking myself?

I love my current MA job. The people are great, the hands-on patient care work is great--it's not a job I want to lose. However, I'm feeling really nervous about my courseload next semester on top of it. I plan on working 3 days a week so it would be spread out to 4.5 hours per shift. I would still have my weekends open to myself for studying. But my main thing is, will I be stressing myself out too much? If I plan on taking two gap years before PA school to work and apply anyway, should I just focus on my academics and quit this job? Should I stay with the job in case I struggle with the job market later? Will I have time to spend with friends/family?

Times I'll be back home:

MWF 5:45 PM

T/TH 4:30 PM

Those working as EMTS at private ambulances in Chicago/neighboring suburbs, how often do you get emergencies?

Just want to get an idea, thank you.

Feeling frustrated about the EMT-B work opportunities in the area I'm in.

Hello everyone,

I'm an EMT student in Chicago and I'm currently on the pre-PA track in undergrad. I went into EMT school a little naively, I will admit. I knew I would likely be starting off in IFT but being on a 911 ambulance was a long-term goal of mine to be the chunk of my PCE for PA school, mainly because I love emergency medicine & prehospital care--it's genuinely a passion of mine.

I recently found out, however, that all 911 calls are essential firefighter EMTs or Paramedics. I simply don't have the budget to go to paramedic school and becoming a firefighter is genuinely impossible because of the crazy wait list.

I just feel really stuck and demotivated about the prospect of not being able to work 911--it's making me feel like everything I learn right now as a student will be useless down the line. I would appreciate any words of advice or something.

Shot in the dark here, but any fellow Hijabis in EMS that have advice/tips for practical ways to wear it?

Looking for a mystery, thriller, or drama that will keep me on my toes until the end. Some romance would be great too

Title says it all, thank you

David Attenborough has actually passed age 99. “We are shocked,” his family writes, “and endlessly appreciative of the love and support we’ve seen.” We wish him healthy and happy 100th year.
