How do I get up here to paint the shiplap and bargeboard?

Helping my bother-in-law paint his house and we're stuck.

The roof on the left is only one storey so painting the shiplap directly above the ivy is easy - just on a ladder. But how do we get all the way up to do the rest? The apex is about 30ft up.

Did anyone here go and see Frasier being filmed? What were your memories?

I've specifically always wondered what order the sets were in. I've always guessed the apartment was central with the radio studio to the left and Cafe Nervosa to the right.

Also, as it was shot on film, were there any monitors for the audience to see what was going on? Or were you just left trying to see around all the technical equipment and work out what was going on?

How hard is it to open a cafe (please go easy on me, I realise this is a silly question)?

Looking for some genuine advice and I'm aware that this is going to be one hell of a learning curve.

My uncle passed away a few years ago and my sister and I were left some premises. Currently it's a restaurant but they've chosen to not renew. I'm bored of my job and fancy a change.

The building is beautiful, on a busy high street and has an amazing courtyard garden that would be perfect for people to have coffee and cake in the sunshine. So I'm wondering about opening a cafe...

For someone who has never even worked in a cafe, how hard is it? There's a lot of them around, so I assume it's not crazy hard. I'll be in the fortunate position that I'll be paying half rent (I just need to pay my sister).

Lorry ban has done nothing in our village - are there any consequences for driving through it?

A couple of years ago our village got a 7.5 tonne ban and the number of lorries trundling through has probably reduced slightly, but there's still dozens of artics every hour.

I'm just intrigued because, when I see a 'no motor vehicles' sign, I don't go into that zone because I'm not allowed. So why do lorry drivers ignore this sign? Are there no consequences to driving through it?

Edit: And to be clear, it's a small village with one pub. No shops, no industrial estate, nothing. These lorries are passing through the ban area, not stopping within it.

Another edit: Loving all the excuses. Apparently it's ok to ignore the rules if you need to save time, if you need to get home to see your family and if it's not noted on the satnav. Also, to care about lorries driving through restricted areas is sad, means you're unemployed and we should all just accept it because "lorry's" carry stuff we all need.

For professional drivers, you're a funny bunch.

Clicking 'back' on my Mac browser resets to the top of the feed.

This only happens when I view Reddit on my Mac (Safari).

When scrolling through my Home or Popular (or whatever) feed, I click on a post. When I click back, I'm back at the top of the Home feed. So I have to scroll past everything I've already seen.

When viewing Reddit on my iPhone (again via the browser, I don't use the app), clicking 'back' will go to the part of the Home feed I was at, rather than resetting to the top.

Any way of changing the behaviour on my Mac? It's very annoying.

I've recently become obsessed with Leigh Francis who played Keith Lemon. He was everywhere - adverts, gameshows, sketch shows, all sorts. And then he disappeared. He's nowhere other than getting a few thousand views on YouTube.

It must be hard to go from earning (I assume) millions to nothing.

Do you know anyone personally who used to be a huge earner and now isn't? What do they do instead and how do they get by?

We all have bills to pay after all.

Amazing. A council have had to get a protection order banning horse racing on a few roads where it has become so frequent.

Further down the article it says that "racing horses on the highway [is] not illegal" which shocks me. Using public roads to race horses feels so dangerous for everyone involved and everyone who isn't involved.

But I guess it's one rule for us...
