How to keep toddler active after giving birth to baby?

I give birth in a couple weeks and I cannot wait. I know it’ll be exhausting but I cannot wait to NOT be pregnant anymore lol.

My 16 month old is incredibly active. He LOVES to be outside and hates being indoors. We live in the Midwest and by the time baby comes, it will definitely be getting colder. I don’t mind bundling him up and taking him outdoors but I imagine it will be difficult postpartum. My husband and I are trying to think of the best ways to keep him occupied when we’re exhausted on cold days. He does watch tv a little bit but otherwise we try really hard to avoid too much screen time. Most toys he gets bored with after a few times. Any advice on how you guys kept your first babies engaged those first couple months postpartum? Thanks yall :)

Tv randomly disconnected from WiFi, now I’m not sure how to sync phone

Of course my 14 month old son got a hold of our Roku remote a few weeks ago and I have not been able to find it since. No problem, I had the app on my phone already that was synced to the tv. Randomly yesterday the tv says “not connected” - which means I can’t use my phone since it’s not syncing to the tv’s WiFi. Am I just SOL? Should I just buy a new remote? I really appreciate any guidance, thanks!

Trying to be considerate of husbands culture but need help with spelling

Need honest thoughts on spelling please! My husband is Liberian/Ivorian. His mom is Liberian. She is an amazing person and I love her very much! She had all sons, and has three grandsons. We are pregnant with a girl and she is SO excited to finally have a girl in her lineage. I really want to name our daughter after her and I think it would mean a lot to her.

Here’s the thing. Her name is Zeor pronounced Zee-yuh. I love it. It’s a beautiful name. My husband and I want to use her name but are disagreeing on how to spell it. I fear that if we keep the accurate spelling she will sound like an alien from planet Xenon. People will pronounce it how it is spelled, not to their fault but in the English language I dont anticipate Americans thinking Zeor would be pronounced any other way then Zee-ore. I suggested alternative spellings like Zeah or Zeeyah but he thinks it defeats the purpose of naming her after his mom if we don’t keep it how she spells it. I understand how he feels and I don’t want to cater to Americans in a way that disrespects his culture, I’m just anxious to give my daughter a name that she will have to correct people on her whole life. I appreciate any honest thoughts!

What weird foods do your little ones like that took you by surprise?

My son is half Liberian, and my husbands family suggested we try fufu and pounded okra as that’s what they’d be giving babies back home. We love it and eat it all the time but I didn’t know how my 11 month would handle the texture. He LOVED IT. Now we eat it twice a week because he demands more 🤣 for added protein we put salmon or sardines with it and he’s in heaven. Never in a million years did I think my baby’s favorite food would be okra and fish but here we are! I’m curious, what foods do your LOs love that surprised you?

DCS is investigating us and I’m heartbroken

Nightmare of a day. I get a call from my mother in law while at work panicked that my 10 month old fell oddly and now he’s not putting weight on one leg. She was so scared. My husband and I took him to the ER and were told they had to do an xray which made sense. Then were told he needs more X-rays, and more, and more. Then suddenly, DCS and the police need to interview us separately. In the interview they tell us our son has a fractured femur and that the doctors don’t believe that him falling could cause this. I was hysterical. The doctor had come into the room several times and had not mentioned any concerns to us or told us that there was a fracture.

We were interrogated. I understand it’s protocol and I completely understand why they have to do that. Kids need DCS to look out for them. But I cannot believe that the doctors wouldn’t tell us that our son had a fracture. I don’t think it’s DCS responsibility to give us a diagnosis.

They sent all the X-rays to a specialist at a children’s hospital who said that the injury is consistent with a fall and not with abuse. At this point the doctor comes into the room to tell us babies fall all the time! They’re so clumsy! This is normal! I wanted to scream. They were accusatory, poorly communicative, and harsh for hours. Now, this is “normal” and “clumsy” ?!

Again I understand everyone was just doing their job. But I was already an absolute wreck at the thought of my baby in pain or having to sustain an injury. The treatment we had there was so harsh. We were there for seven hours just to be told to give him ibuprofen and for them to do a loose wrap on his leg. I would sit a hundred hours if it meant my baby was okay. But we just got home and the emotions of the day are hitting me HARD. I’m just crying at what a day my son had to experience. I’m not sure why I’m posting this. I guess I just feel awful and needed to write it down.

Regardless of what the specialist said, DCS still has to check our house and my mother in laws house. I’m just dreaming of the day my son is healed and feeling great again and this is all over.

UPDATE: we just met with our pediatrician. Our child doesn’t have a fractured femur, he has a fractured tibia. So not only was communication poor, it was flat out wrong. He was confused because the multiple doctors, nurses, and specialists that made notes in my son’s charts all indicated a fractured tibia, so how it never got reported accurately to us is beyond me.
