New Flex Elite Credit Card

Looks like there’s a new 3% beast out there. I applied for an invite and got it today. Approved for $100k after a day in review.

If you have $250k-1m in business or personal deposits, the rate increases to unlimited 4-5%.

We’ll see how this goes, but seems like a RH Gold with no AF.

Hotel Stay Chargeback

So I recently stayed at a property that I booked via Expedia with the "Pay at Property" feature intead of pre-paying. Hotel didn't ask for a card at check-in which I thought was unusual, but it was a glamping spot in northern CA, so I figured they'd just bill me at checkout with whatever card I presented.

Turns out they decided to automatically bill the card on file with Expedia at check-in without saying anything (I just walked in, stated my name, and they walked me to my tent, that was the entire check-in process). This is a minor annoyance compared to asking at checkout if they could please charge the card that I would like to actually pay with, since I selected to pay at the property instead of pre-pay. The person at checkout said they were new, didn't know how to fix it and took down my info to pass to their manager. Cue 5 calls later and endless promises by "new" employees that they didn't know how or couldn't do anything but their manager could and that they'd call me back. This never happened in each of the calls, and I even left the proper card details with one of the employees.

I finally got fed up with it and disputed the charge as unauthorized with my bank. All I want to do is ACTUALLY pay for the card I wanted to pay with. I did NOT authorize the hotel to charge the card attached to my Expedia account. There was nothing I agreed to that said they could or would charge via Expedia instead of paying at the property like my booking stated.

Am I wrong for this?

I don’t think anyone but food service workers deserve tips.

And that’s specifically for the ones who only make $2-something an hour because of the special carve out exemptions.

I’m fucking burnt out on tipping every single person I come into contact with these days. Why does my taxi driver deserve 15-20% on top of a normal wage/fare, or my barber after I’ve just paid them $40 for 30 min of work.

You CAN have both AAA Cards (Daily/Travel)

So it just requires a little bit of legwork, but you can apply through two different AAA regional clubs, one for each and be approved for each card. I currently hold both after holding the Travel Card through AAA Northeast and then applied for the Daily Card through AAA Washington last month.

You'll have to input a local zip code for the AAA website once you access it, but just apply as normal with your personal information once the application begins.

You CANNOT hold both cards through the same AAA regional club, which is why most people who have tried have failed.

You do NOT need to hold a AAA membership at all, let alone one with a specific regional club.

If you already hold one of the cards already and don't feel like it's benefitting you, you can call to product change it to the other.

I don't know if or when they'll close this loophole, or I'm risking things just mentioning it at all, but I figured i'd help.

Apple Pay Card Limit Increased

Amex has officially raised the number of cards you can add to your Apple Wallet to 12. Just confirmed it yesterday on iOS 27 Beta. I’d assume it works on any version though.

Genuinely One Of The Most Insane (Bad) Credit Cards Ever Offered

Global Credit Union just decided to launch their Seattle Mariners Cash Back Credit Card.

2% on Dining and Travel
1% on Everything Else

$250 ANNUAL FEE. They’re out of their goddamn minds. Do they really think people are going to pay that kinda cash for this dogshit? From a credit union nonetheless.

Am I alone in this? I can't remember a single time in my life when I've been sent one of those pre-approval offers letters from ANY bank or credit union. I'm definitely not on the opt-out list, and I see my friend next door get like 10 of them delivered every day, lol.

The most I get on occasion are balance transfer offer letters. I'm not pissed over it by any means, but I do find it a little strange.
