Test fitting the Husky tote in the trunk

I keep adding more gear to the 12 gallon Husky professional heavy duty tote. I added a Noco GBX75 and n its oem dedicated case (#GBC103), which takes a good amount of space along side the Noco Air10 tire inflator. I’m waiting on a set of Spartan Power 4AWG 20’ heady duty flex pure copper jumper cables to be delivered. I haven’t even tried to fit a pair of rubber wheel chocks and some other misc gear (Maddox tire repair kit, lug nut sockets, roll of duct tape, etc. I’m tempted to try to fit the 20 gallon version of this same tote in my trunk; it has the same foot print as this tote but it is about 5” taller than the 12 gallon tote and may create a challenge for vertical space in the trunk.

I secured the tote with the pictured Nite Ize ‘Cam Jam’ cam buckle. The strap has a claimed 700lb working load limit / 2100lb breaking strength which is amongst the highest I could find for a 1” strap. It is looped around the width of the tote, from top to bottom. The limitation here is that I am only applying force pushing the tote down into the floor using the two straps nearest the seat-back.

I could place the tote dead center on the trunk and place the two straps diagonally across the tote to use all four d-rings evenly, but that would significantly eat into my usable trunk space on a day-to-day basis.

I need to experiment with the straps to see if there is a better way to secure it. The good news is that it did not shift at all in a short but spirited drive earlier tonight. Without the strap and cam buckle the tote does shift around the trunk, sitting on top of the all-weather cargo may (not pictured).

How to secure a heavy tote in sedan trunk?

Building out my kit which is based on a Husky 12 gallon tote. It’s heavy, with a 1.5 ton Daytona aluminum floor jack that weighs 32lbs by itself. I never want to have to use the stock oem 1/2 scissor jack in the wheel well, aka the widow-maker, hence a dedicated floor jack.

How would you secure it in your trunk to prevent it becoming a projectile? Trunk has 4 d-rings in the corners. Currently I have a trunk liner in there covering the rings buts easily addressed.

This old torque wrench is trash right?

I've had this torque wrench for 20-25 years. It's a 20-150 Ft/Lbs model from Gorilla Automotive. I haven't used in at least a year maybe two? I had put it away stored at 90 ft-lbs...oops! Not sure if it has a purpose anymore.

I bought the Icon 1/2" split beam torque wrench today for $98 to use in my home garage, mostly for swapping out wheels.

Aug PLS Day 2

Okay, okay, okay…..I know the jack is not on PLS but the Icon 18” breaker bar was, and I got it for 30% off. The ITC discount on the jack was $30 off of $139.99. My local store has not had this jack in stock since the ITC coupon was live so I had to hit another store tonight.

I bought the jack to build a new car emergency kit. It should fit with room to spare in the 12 gallon Husky tote that we already know fits the Badlands 1.5 ton jack, and we know this Daytona fits in the smaller Apache 5800 case as per u/uzi_Jesus_ post a couple of months ago.

The 18” breaker bar will easily fit in the Husky tote and I’ll add some extra hand tools, gloves, and hopefully the smaller Husky foam pad will fit.

Who says a dollar doesn’t get you anything these days?

I know these are not supposed to be good, but I’ll take these as freebies. Metrics tomorrow.

Customs & Tariffs?

Ordered from Lenovo US storefront. I have a Lenovo US invoice.

Laptop recently shipped. UPS tracking states: "Customs requires additional information or documents for clearance. Awaiting information from the customer."

Called UPS and they are asking me who will serve as broker and that tariffs will be due.

Contacted Lenovo service, and they are acting like this is something they will resolve on their end and that no tariffs will be levied.

Anybody else experience this?

How warm is this deal from HD for the #2402 M12 Fuel screwdriver kit for $159.00?

The bit kit costs $20 by itself, or $10 in this kit.

I already have the M12 Fuel hammer drill and impact driver. Looking for something with a bit more finesse than the impact. Not for anything sensitive like electronics or toys.

You versus the guy she told you not to worry about

The premium Daytona jack handle is 6.75” longer than the stock handle on the 3-ton low profile jack.

Darko Anchor: Mounting hardware 1" Monster?

Would someone please confirm me what mounting hardware Darko and/or Rogue ships with the barbell anchor?

I have an extra parts pack that Rogue shipped to me for my CTM-1 and wondering if I can use the 4.75" bolts and flat washers from that pack. I assume they are too long and will protrude inside the rack but wanted to confirm here. Thanks.

TL/DR: What length bolts do they send out for the Darko Anchor? I have 1" x 4.75" bolts laying around.

Another Rucker? Spend my $$$

My Rucker is a Black 2.0 20L bag that I've had since new, it's still in great shape as I only ruck with it. I just picked up a Ranger Green RPC 3.0 standard for shorter rucks when I don't need to carry anything extra in a pack.

Foolishly perhaps, but I keep looking at new Ruckers so I can try a 45lb plate. If you've rucked with 45lb long plate did you keep at it it, or did you decide it was too much? Any issues carrying a 45lb long plate + water bladder in a 20L Rucker? My 2.0 is limited to standard plates (Ihave a 20 & 30), but I do own a 30lb long plate from before I bought my first Goruck bag.

I have my eye on a new black 4.0 with black embroidered logo, unfortunately this would not be discounted at all. Alternatively the new 5.0 is available. I'm somewhat curious about the thicc lumbar pad. My 2.0 has zero lumbar padding but I cannot say iI ever felt uncomfortable as a result. Not sure what to think about velcro in the 4.0 vs magnets in the 5.0. I prefer black rucks, but not so keen about the white embroidered logo on the 5.0.

SCORE!

GR1 26L THROWBACK !

Amazing! Like many of you today I was looking at the new Rucker 5.0 release.....and then I came across this single Throwback beauty!

The irony is that just today Goruck refunded me back the cost for the current version MiUSA GR1 26L that I returned due to buyers remorse over the Aquaguard zippers. I had ordered that bag before the price increase to replace my 2018 26L bag.

Soon I will be in possession of a trinity of Throwback bags::

GR1 21L
GR1 26L
GR2 40L

This is for a Monster rack with 1” holes. I have band pegs of course, but I’ve been looking at the ‘Monster Squat Handle Pair’ or maybe even a pair of Mutant Metals stainless handles in 5” or 8” length.

If you have them / use them what do you like and don’t like?

Picking up the 65lb Marrs bar in the near future. I have a pair of Darko barbell anchors in my cart ready to pull the trigegr on to store the bar in my rack, but then I came across this picture of someone using an extra pair of j-cups to store their Rogue SSB along the side of their rack. I have an extra pair of 2" sandwich j-cups (3-pair in total), but I do not think the above solution will work with the Marrs bar, but the picture has me consider about other options also.

Have you found a better solution than the Darko hangers? My RM6 is only 90" tall, I am hesitant to store the Marrs bar in the rack full time, but I'm not sure I see a better way.

It is definitely not going into the Rogue 9-bar holder given my low basement ceilings . I do have a Rogue 5-bar v2 gunrack sitting in a box unused; I would have to mount it to an unfinished concrete wall (using up that wall) and walk it back to the rack section of my gym about 15'-20' away.
