Gap Cycle devoured. What next?
I just finished Stephen R. Donaldson's The Gap Cycle series (what a ride!), and I am looking for what to read next. I'm thinking either Vernor Vinge or Iain M. Banks. Any recommendations?

The DigiTech JamMan Looper Delay is a totally underrated pedal
The Digitech JamMan Looper Delay is one of the best pedals I've ever owned. Stick a measly 4GB CF card in it and you can store loops of essentially infinite lengths, or two hundred loops of moderate length. The delay section has three presets with multiple types of delays, on par with the Line 6 DL4. They produced this pedal from 2010 'til like 2011 or 2012 but, imho, this is the best DigiTech JamMan Looper to date. They're indestructible, run on a common 9V AC power supply and you can buy them used for less than $200 on eBay and Reverb. I tell you this because I already own two spares and thought I should share the love. I don't know how many they made, but it wasn't enough.

Dog will hunt
We’re fortunate enough to live near a big field that’s just crawling with rodents, be they squirrels, rabbits or gophers. Their population is typically culled by raptors that cruise overhead but now they have to contend with our Magnolia. She’s now gotten four or five of these little critters. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to let her be a hunter. What do you think? If you could, would you allow your husky to be a predator?
Incidentally, my wife is an amazing photographer and took this shot on her iPhone. This is not AI.

Pseudo pregnancy
My 13 month old girl is going a bit nuts. About three days ago she started gathering up all of her stuffed animals and licking them clean and then last night she took them all with her under the shed and is basically lying there whining and licking her babies. ChatGPT called it a pseudo pregnancy. Have you ever experienced such a thing?

I'm reading the Gap Cycle for the first time, and some intriguing characters (with extremely murky ethics) are going EVA on a planetoid (I'm picturing something like Pluto or Europa) near a human-built outpost, and Donaldson's description is beautiful:
"By themselves the emplacements looked massive and murderous, immeasurably destructive. However, seen next to the fathomless dark which covered Thanatos Minor instead of sky, they appeared no more distinct or effective than the old stone they’d replaced.
The light—or the contrast between the unnatural, human light and the natural, inhuman void—gave the landscape its strangeness. Against this black and absolute background, any arc lamp, no matter how intense, was nothing more than a small flare. Human senses insisted that so many millions of tons of concrete, so much fusion-generated power, so much evidence of conscious intention, should have been large enough to mean something. The surrounding emptiness disagreed."
I'm on book 3 of 5 and have no clue how it's all going to turn out. From what I've gleaned, I won't be disappointed.
