CMV: Obama was not a worse president in his 8 years, than Trump is in his 2nd term. (Economically speaking)

I believe this is the appropriate subreddit to post this.

My reasoning is that Obama inherited a crashing economy and recovered. Not decision was perfect but based on my understanding social safety nets were strengthened and affordable living was with reach and maintainable for the average American. (I was a kid at this time.) I believe Trump’s first term was more or less successful until the COVID outbreak and he was straddling doing well and tanking and then of course Biden happened. I think Trump took his first term and Biden’s term as just kicked America down the trash heap swiftly with DOGE, budgeting, less welfare, boosting his chronies and of course the war. I’m a working adult in Trump’s 2nd term and he has almost single-handedly ruined my financial 20s and my overall quality of life.

I may be clouded by personal experience or lack thereof, but I hear Republicans swear Obama was worse, but genuinely how? I am willing to change my mind, I just need a based take.

Sidecar cosleeping setup?

Heyo! FTM - 10weeks. Also planning to move house between now and Thanksgiving. I think I want to cosleep, but don’t think I can go 100% in the new house for several reasons. What I am thinking now is a sidecar bassinet strapped to my side of the bed. Does anyone have experience with this and have and product recommendations. All of the (affordable, reasonably sized) bassinets I see the most have a partial zip down for easy access that’s usually lower than the bed, but I am hoping for a seamless transition between bed and bassinet (with proper secure attachments so bassinet doesn’t move).

So many prenatal appointments…standard?

Just had my confirmation of pregnancy at 8 weeks. Everything was perfect. My OB basically said come back in 2 weeks and then every 3 weeks. Around 20 weeks I will see her every 2 weeks, then at around 35 weeks I will see her weekly until delivery.

I was expecting 2-4 appointments.

Can I just negotiate some of these appointments? I feel like as long as everything continues to look good, I don’t need to go so often.

Food aversions

Absolutely shocked that I have food aversions. And so many. I’m not a picky eater in general. I was expecting maybe a few small food aversions, nothing I couldn’t handle. But everything I can think of for lunch or dinner makes me wanna hurl. Even my most basic survival lazy meals like plain salmon and steamed vegetables, I can’t think about without getting nauseous. I’m not dealing with nausea in general. It’s just when I think of foods. All I can eat happily is watermelon, pickles, and nuts. I cook healthy meals so I really love fueling my body but I’m so discouraged this week. Husband said he will spoon feed me if he has too.

Gave up on bras.

I’m not even 12 weeks and have already given up on wearing bras.

I was already a D (depending on the brand), but my boobs have inflated already. I was expecting the soreness I have, but was not expecting how sensitive my nipples are. I more so gave up on bras to relieve my nipples. And I normally wear loose bras, I don’t like wire, support, or being tightly squeezed. Even my go-to breathable bralettes felt like ripping of a bandaid when I took them off.

Was nervous to come to work braless, but couldn’t care less now that’s the relief all day has been so nice. My plan is to get camisoles as a bra substitute and try that out.

Stuck between hospital birth and midwife home birth.

I desire an unmedicated birth with minimal intervention my first pregnancy. My sister’s labor and delivery traumatized me years ago so I am very hesitant to do a hospital birth. My plan was to deliver at the only birthing center in the city, but I have heard horrible things about it so it’s definitely a hard no. I will definitely have a doula if I choose hospital.

My first OBGYN appointment is next week for confirmation of pregnancy, but I might explore a midwife home birth service in my area. I want the stability of being close to immediate emergency care, but I also don’t want to be in an environment where doctors and nurses pressure me and drive me crazy to the point of helplessness.

I have some time but I would need to secure the midwife services while they have availability and assuming I’m a good candidate.

Any thoughts?
