So, what is PersonaChat?

PersonaChat is a fully local Android app, which is BYOK, and stores all your data on your phone and your phone only. No accounts, no limits, no subscriptions, no drama.

Why can't I send a message? Either you haven't configured your API key correctly, or you're being rate limited. If you're not a paying user (i.e. you haven't bought Gemini credits, which is totally optional), I'd recommend using Gemma 4 31B since it has unlimited messages - the other models are there for power users.

Why is there no feed? Because everything is local, and I mean everything. The only characters are the ones you build, so you can totally curate your experience and only interact with what you want.

Why not make it more like Character AI? Because online functionality requires servers and servers cost money. No one here wants another subscription model.

My Character/Persona's image disappeared! Images are stored locally so if you move/delete the image you added to it, it won't appear anymore. I'd recommend making a folder on your phone to store these.

Will you ever support iOS/iPadOS? No. That costs money, and requires a Mac, both things I don't have access to.

all these apps are making it really hard to justify giving them money. Chai has the intrusive ads within your chats, Shapes does the same, both of them sending the ads like messages. Character AI does the intrusive ads literally everywhere and removed any features that made Plus worth it, while making the free tier so shit that you think you're gaining something. Hell, even Janitor is limiting your swipes now if you don't buy Plus

All of this is literally terrible business strategy - if you make your platform so terrible that the only way to get anything decent out of it is to pay money? They won't spend the money because your platform is so shit. Why would anyone want to give money to a platform like Character AI or the others? They're killing their own platforms.

OnStream was working up until like six hours ago, I don't know if it's temporary or not but if needs be, do you guys have an alternative that syncs between devices? Cause I use it on a tablet and my android TV, and I need the ability to sync those.

hi, so I've had a few people ask me to create a site for my diffsinger ports (and other ports I plan to make in future), but I'm honestly unsure of how best to host them? Blogspot blogs continuously get taken down, so I don't really think that's the best option, but other blogging sites aren't as versatile

Plus, Google and OneDrive are notorious for taking down links, but MediaFire has very limited storage on the free tier and DiffSinger models are pretty hefty, size wise. Any tips?

So, I have a Thinkpad with 16GB of RAM, and whenever I try to play DS games on it (MelonDS, DraStic, multiple RetroArch cores), its always stuttering and the audio is crunching like mad. This laptop can run beefier stuff flawlessly, like Dolphin, Ryujinx and the like. I play a bunch of PC games on it too.

Meanwhile my decade old Kindle Fire running DraStic can play DS games just fine, even with shaders and upscaling, on 2GB of RAM. My TrimUI Smart Pro with 1GB of RAM on CrossMix OS can run DS games flawlessly.

Is it down to Windows? Or am I using the wrong emulator? Or does DS on computers just suck?

I had an account with character ai since the very beginning, back when it was in beta and there was nothing more than you and chats. Back then I paid for plus because I wanted to support them.

Fuck those greedy bastards. I moved.

when will character ai learn that they're literally destroying themselves?

They implement features that severely limit their largest demographic. Okay, kinda understandable because safety but it's gonna lose them a lot of users and a lot of subscribers.

So, do they add features that encourage more adult subscribers (who are more likely to have disposable income, mind)? Nope, which leads to limitations on their new largest demographic.

Oh, there's less subscribers because they basically made every user demographic unhappy? Okay, then let's add banner and chat ads! That'll make the money back!

...wait, why is everyone leaving?

If they just had a sit down, did something to appease one of those demographics (like removing the filter since they're insistent it's not a child-friendly app), then they'd actually be making the money.

I have an Oilsky M303 that I got mostly for travelling and to keep my music and podcasts on, but while it's an android device, it appears to have APK installation disabled OOTB (any attempt to install an APK results in 'This file format is unsupported')

I was able to install some things via ADB but it's temperamental and sometimes just won't work, plus it's a hassle to have to do it every time just to install something. I know there are ways to re-enable APK installations, I did it on my dad's Doro phone for him, but that was with a dialler and a USSD code, which isn't applicable in this case.

Anyone else have any ideas? I even tried sideloading Aurora Store but it just wouldn't install apps. I miss having Podcast Addict.
