I’m not sure if I used the right words for the title, but my question is: what do you think of a more comical and unprepared mastermind—someone without any grand motives or anything like that? I feel that, depending on the execution, this could be an interesting type of mastermind to see, yet I hardly ever come across one like that in fanganronpas

I ask this because I have two characters with culture-based Ultimate talents in my Fangan, and I’m not sure how to introduce them. I don’t want to write a monologue explaining what each of these Talents does, but I also don’t want to leave their functions unexplained—especially since one of these Talents is actually relevant to a case. Sorry if my question was a bit confusing; I got a little tangled up while writing it.

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right flair for my request, but anyway. My fangan will be written-based, so I'm not looking for artists or VAs; I just want a simple volunteer to help me brainstorm, suggest, and evaluate ideas for the project (on second thought, would this count as a writer role? 🫪). This is my first fangan, so it would be great to have someone to share opinions and help ensure the result is at least decent. Ultimately, I don't think it's a very complicated task.

Story: 16 people sign up for a reality show but end up trapped in a killing game.

Setting: A mansion.

Theme: I don't think it has a concrete theme like "hope vs. despair" or anything like that; for the most part, it focuses more on something like "life vs. ambition."

I’ll use placeholder names for the characters here: let’s call the victim Tyler and the blackened Jess. In my first chapter, the mascot hosts a pool party with a barbecue and alcoholic drinks so everyone can get to know each other better. While setting up, they realize there is an excess of food and drink, so they decide to make it a two-day party instead of one. At the end of the first day, as everyone is heading to their rooms, Jess offers to walk Tyler to his room, since he is nearly passing out from how much he’s had to drink. Instead of taking him to his room, Jess leads him to the gym and finishes him off with a hammer blow to the neck, breaking it. Jess stacks up several gym mats to reach the window connecting the gym to the warehouse, moving both the body and herself from one room to the other. The warehouse is where the barbecue charcoal is stored, so she sews two bags together and places Tyler’s body inside. (Earlier that day, Jess had noticed that the person manning the grill didn't open the bag to pour out the charcoal but lit the grill with the bag and all; considering the griller wasn't very bright, Jess naively hoped he wouldn't notice or care about the oversized charcoal bag and would burn Tyler's body when lighting the grill.) To make the bag containing Tyler look more convincing, Jess takes the same hammer she used to kill him, crushes some charcoal pieces, and sticks them to the inside of the bag, creating the impression—to the touch—that it contains only charcoal. Unfortunately, everyone notices something wrong with the bag before the body can be put on the grill.

I plan for my fangan's mastermind to be revealed in Chapter 6 (I know, "so original"), but I don't know what clues to use for the reveal; I'm already struggling to incorporate clues into my murder cases, and I find it even harder to come up with clues for the mastermind reveal. I plan for the clues to be discovered throughout the game (not just in Chapter 6). My mastermind is one of the most proactive characters in the story, but they are careless and not exactly prepared for the role (though not to the point where it's obvious it's them).
