I started using Gemini Notebook for something I didn't think it would be good at.

I originally thought I'd only use Gemini Notebook for studying or research. Then I started experimenting with it for things that weren't really "schoolwork."

I've used it to compare information from different documents, and basically ask questions whenever I couldn't figure out how several pieces of information fit together.

The interesting part isn't really the answers themselves. It's being able to put several sources in one place and start asking questions across them.

That changed how I think about these tools. I used to think the useful part was getting an answer quickly. Now I think the more interesting part is being able to correctly use the informations I have without constantly jumping between different documents.

I'm curious what everyone else's unexpected use for Gemini Notebook has been.

What's something you use it for that you originally never intended to use it for?

I think my biggest problem with research isn't finding information — it's knowing when to stop.

I've been using Gemini Notebook while doing light research, and it made me notice something about my own workflow.

I'll start looking into one topic, find a useful source, then that source mentions another topic, which leads me to another source, and suddenly I've spent an hour reading about something completely different.

Having my sources together in Gemini Notebook has helped me stay focused because I can ask questions about the material I've already collected instead of immediately opening another ten tabs, which almost always leads to me forgetting about the first material I was reading about.

It's also useful for figuring out whether something I found actually answers the question I'm researching about or whether I'm just reading it because it's interesting.

I'm still very guilty of going down research rabbit holes, though.

What's the most ridiculous research rabbit hole you've accidentally fallen into?

I made $15k editing pictures on my phone

Content was already a big part of my life before UGC, I started editing YT videos years ago, then got into short form, random pages, different formats, basically anything where I could mess around with content, especially user generated content videos

At some point I got accepted for a Picsart campaign and the videos were stupidly simple. Most were just little editing/Instagram tricks, screen recordings, random pics from my camera roll

I posted around some videos and somehow they ended up doing close to 50M views combined

The biggest ones did 7.5M and 6.5M, then there were a bunch between 2-3M. You can see them here:

https://app.sideshift.app/portfolio/DfmzvHV0CyYnoWaBtO4rpnXykTw1

The campaign was paid on performance/CPM, so the more views the videos got, the more I made and it ended up paying a little over $15k total.

I'll link some of the posts too because I know $15k for editing random pictures on your phone sounds like complete BS:

That campaign was pretty much when UGC stopped being a side thing for me.

Now it's my full time job. I work with a bunch of different brands and usually have a few campaigns running at the same time. Some are regular paid UGC deals, others pay based on views like this one.

Using Gemini Notebook for my readings has saved me from rereading the same paragraph 4 times.

I have been using Gemini Notebook mainly for my case readings, and honestly? I didn’t expect it to be this useful.

Some of the cases I have read for my class are pretty long, and my biggest problem isn’t necessarily understanding the words. It’s keeping track of who did what, what the actual issue was, and why the court decided the way it did. I sometimes finish a case and realize that I remember the general story but I can’t explain the reasoning properly.

What I’ve started doing is putting the case reading into Gemini Notebook and using it alongside my actual reading notes instead of just asking it to summarize everything.

The biggest difference for me is that I can go back and ask questions about the specific files I uploaded instead of having to explain each case every time. It also helps when there’s a part of the decision where I understand the words individually but somehow don’t understand what the paragraph is actually trying to say.

I still don’t treat its answers as a replacement for reading the case itself. I check the original text, especially when it’s something important for my class the next day. But as a way of getting unstuck when I’m staring at a huge case reading, it’s been surprisingly very helpful.

I’m curious if anyone else here uses Gemini Notebook the way I do now. Do you mainly use it for summaries, or have you found a better way to use it for understanding your case readings?

rewatching grimm after many years…

and i realize that nick and adalind’s chemistry was spot on since the first season. even during the time that nick and juliette were still together. i think the writers did a really good job in playing out their story, although i wish they gave juliette some justice on her own.

sleepless in seattle (1993) dir. nora ephron

a really sweet and classic rom-com that focuses more on the idea of longing and finding someone who feels right. i liked how the story takes its time bringing sam and annie together instead of having them meet right away. their relationship develops through conversations, letters, and small coincidences, which makes the whole thing feel a little dreamy and hopeful. some parts can feel unrealistic or overly convenient, but that’s also part of the charm.
