The Adjustment Bureau (2011)

The Adjustment Bureau (2011)

This movie definitely surprised me! I don't know why I'd never heard of it before, but I loved Matt Damon and Emily Blunt's chemistry and the "stakes" involved. I definitely want to watch more romantic sci-fi movies. ❤️

Merteuil (The Seduction)

I’m watching this because I’m trying to improve my French and the language in period pieces is something my middle aged brain can comprehend. But wow this is a fabu show! The costumes, set design, actors, and camera work are gorgeous. It’s basically a prequel to Dangerous Liaisons, of which the best version is Milos Forman’s, fight me. Anyway, this is worth a watch and I wish there was a season 2!

What romance movie couple had such good chemistry that you forgot you were watching a movie?

I’m looking for a romance movie recommendation. I watched Before Sunrise a while back and ended up completely forgetting that I was watching two actors. The conversations felt so natural, especially the little pauses and awkward moments where neither person really knew what to say next. It reminded me of those nights when you meet someone unexpectedly and keep talking even though you know you should probably go home.

I’m looking for another romance movie with that same kind of chemistry, where the couple feels like two actual people instead of characters written to be perfect. It can be an older movie or something more recent. What romance movie couple gave you that feeling?

One of the best coming of age movie in a long time. GIRLS LIKE GIRLS(2026).

An intimate coming-of-age film, really loved this movie, don’t watch the trailer and stay after the credits.

What's that romantic movie they never got over?

I'd like to watch one of those movies that, even after it ends and days go by, you keep thinking about the story and the characters one of those movies that makes you laugh, cry, and feel like you really experienced that love alongside them. Which one would you recommend first?

"While You Were Sleeping" | After a bad read-through, Bill Pullman and Peter Gallagher offered to swap roles, to see if that would improve things. Director Jon Turteltaub rewrote the script, instead.

Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong (2015)

Maybe the fact that they're married IRL did a lot of the heavy lifting, but I remember this being sooo good! 😅

What Women Want (2000)

What are people's thoughts on this? I watched it last night for the first time in years. It's a bit of its time, but I liked it all the same. I loved the early 00s vibes.

What’s a romance movie that you finished and immediately wanted to start over again?

Sometimes a movie ends and you just sit there for a second… then go straight back to the beginning. For me it was one of those rare cases where the whole vibe was so comforting that I didn’t want it to end. I rewatched it the same night. Has this ever happened to you? Which romance movie made you hit replay right away?

Would love to hear ❤️

[MOVIE][2020s][ENGLISH] Woman has an affair with an old friend she meets again at her father's funeral, they keep meeting on business trips, ends at a cabin by a lake

Looking for a movie I watched sometime in the last 5 years, on a streaming service (not Netflix — possibly Prime Video, Hulu, Max, Apple TV+, or Peacock).

What I remember:

  • The film opens (or an early scene is) at the wake/funeral of the main character's father. She's there with her husband and daughter.
  • An old friend of hers shows up — I think she may have been in love with him at some point, maybe from the past.
  • They step out into the garden/yard to drink a beer together, away from the other mourners.
  • As the story unfolds, they start having an affair.
  • They keep meeting up by deliberately syncing their business trip schedules so they can be together in the same cities/hotels.
  • At some point there's a scene where they argue — he wants her to leave her husband and be with him, but she refuses because she doesn't want to abandon her family.
  • The film ends with the two of them at a cabin with a beautiful view of a lake, somewhere cold/wintery. She ends up leaving him there.

It's a drama, fairly quiet/character-driven, not a thriller. I don't remember any actor names unfortunately. Any help identifying this would be amazing, thanks!

Best Jeenifer Lopez Movies?

Thinking about Maid in Manhattan had me thinking about other romantic comedies she has made, and which ones are the best. Which other romantic comedies that Jennifer Lopez has starred in are her best?

Movie you hate that most people love?

I searched the subreddit for this prompt and the last one I found was from three years ago, sorry if this is a repetitive one.

What RomCom do you see constantly praised that just didn't do it for you? For me it's Set it Up. I see that one recommended and praised all the time and I simply do not get the hype at all. I watched it when it came out and found it to be incredibly mid. Then I saw it gaining popularity and people recommended it so often and so highly I decided to give it another try this year. Still mid.

What am I missing?

What movie is this for you?
