Catch & Release. ✨️

Anyone watched this before ?

Its a comfort movie for me. Its one of those that if I see running, I am sitting in front of it. It genuinely doesn't have anything for me to nitpick. Its not the best written but its kind of relatable and I want to say quite possible storyline that could present itself in our real lives.

Trying to identify a winter romance movie about a woman inheriting a house

Title: Trying to identify a winter romance movie about a woman inheriting a house

I’m looking for a romance TV movie (possibly Hallmark/Lifetime style).

The main character is a magazine writer/editor from the city who is sent to a small town to write an article about relationships/love and interview local people.

At the same time she inherits a house from her aunt. A lawyer/notary tells her something like “a few signatures and the house is yours.” Her aunt left it to her because she loved visiting there as a child.

When she arrives, she can’t unlock the door, breaks the key in the lock, and climbs through a side window to get inside.

She plans to renovate and sell the house, buying paint and supplies from a local general store owned by a brother and sister. The brother is a widower/handyman type who lives across from the house and helps her repair the interior.

There is also a winter festival in the woods. At one point she says she used to be a scout and proves it by building a fire, singing, and whistling loudly to call for help.

The sister’s husband is a real estate agent helping arrange the possible sale of the house. A buyer eventually comes to see it, but in the end the main character cancels the sale after falling in love with the handyman.

It is NOT a Christmas movie and not Valentine-themed either.

Does anyone recognize this movie?

What are your thoughts on "Austenland"? Worth watching?

I've avoided "Austenland" for a long time, as it was trashed by mainstream critics.

It seems to have developed into a cult favourite over the years, however, and so I plan to watch it soon. What are your thoughts on it?

I see it was directed/written by Jerusha Hess, writer of "Napoleon Dynamite", "Nacho Libre", and other deadpan comedies which confused critics and which audiences were slow to warm too. Is "Austenland" the same?

The movie that made me feel that we are just characters in each other's life, and everyone leave after playing their part.

Past Lives is a movie that deals with a very complex emotional situation of lovers meeting after the girl gets married. And a huge shoutout to the team that handles the subject in such a subtle and honest way. The film takes its time with scenes and emotions instead of rushing through them, which makes you really feel connected to the characters and satisfied with the ending.

The biggest standout for me was Arthur, Nora's husband. John Magaro's acting was incredible. You could feel his pain, confusion, love, and understanding just through his expressions and eyes. Even though the situation is difficult, you completely understand his side too, and that's what makes the film feel so real and mature.

Beautiful performances, great acting, and a very honest film overall. What are your thoughts about this Movie?

Rivals?

I'm surprised booktok isn't going crazy about Rivals.(season 2 just dropped the first few episodes). It's criminally underrated.

I know there are books(have not read). But the show is so good.

Aiden Turner and David Tennent are amazing in their roles. But I think Danny Dyer and Katherine are stealing the show with their romance and couple.

Please help me find where is this scene come from ?

So about 2 years ago i saw a movie scene on youtube, it is about a teenage couple that went to a forest, both are white, but the girl has dark hair, in the forest they found a lake and decided to swim, since it was not planed they swim with underwear, there was a big rock, the boy jump from there, the girl was afraid to jump but the boy forced her, she jumped but end up unconscious, fortunatelly few moments later she woke up

The movie vibe is pretty cold, they barely talk, serious, and no joke, it maybe come out around 2015-2025,

Sorry for my crappy english,

Romantic / emotionally warm movies for a rainy anniversary weekend for cinephile husband + picky creative director wife

My wife and I may get rained into a cabin for our anniversary weekend and I want to build a really good movie lineup.
I’m a pretty serious cinephile and love films from all countries/eras/styles. She’s creative/artistic too (creative director) but generally wants something that “goes down smoother” emotionally and narratively.

Things she tends to love:
- high-concept but emotionally accessible sci-fi
wonder/awe
- romance without cynicism
- imaginative premises
- uplifting or life-affirming tone
- ZERO horror elements

Some movies/books/projects that are very “her”:
- In Time
-Stranger than Fiction
- The Life of Chuck
- Project Hail Mary
- childhood love of Star Trek

Things that usually work for both of us:
emotional sci-fi
romantic fantasy
visually inventive movies
bittersweet but hopeful endings
movies with “big heart”
films that feel human rather than ironic

I’d especially love:
overlooked gems
movies that feel romantic without necessarily being “rom-coms”
movies that create intimacy/wonder during a rainy weekend

What would you program?
