Max & Ruby is mid IMO

And with that, I'll make this an actual rant, not just another Ruby hate post.

First off, I personally feel like both characters are extremely flawed:
- I understand Ruby is trying to be responsible towards her little brother, and it actually does show in some episodes, but there are certain episodes I don't like her in where she has a bossy/unhelpful personality that's mainly the reason why she's hated on so much (e.g. Ruby's Piano Practice, Ruby's Clubhouse, Max's Halloween, Bunny Cakes, Bunny Party, Max's Birthday, Ruby's Beauty Shop, Ruby's Pajama Party, and Baby Max)
- On the other hand, I'd also say Max is just as poorly-written as Ruby, and I get that he's only 3 years old too, but there are also certain episodes where I either loathe him or find him extremely annoying too (e.g. Hide and Seek, Max's Breakfast, Louise's Secret, Quiet Max, Bunny Money, Max's Christmas, Max's Chocolate Chicken, Max's Music, and Max's Thanksgiving)

Anyway, with that out of the way, I feel like the show is too slow-paced for me, even compared to other slow-paced shows like Blue's Clues, Arthur, Oswald, and Kipper. The writing is also repetitive IMO, and I feel like it might've used that infamous "three strikes" formula before HiT Entertainment even did.

Another thing, that grin Max makes, I know some people find it funny, but it just creeps me out.

Another thing, I also don't like how the show can be sexist sometimes, especially in "Ruby's Pajama Party", where Max is not allowed into Ruby's party because "it's for girls only".

The morals can also be pretty bad sometimes, like in "Max's Breakfast", where Max kept refusing to eat his egg, and eventually Ruby ate it for him while she boasted about how good it was. I feel like it sends a bad example to little kids about picky eating. Not to mention, that episode is probably where I hate Max the most.

And, I agree, the last two seasons of the show are even worse, and it feels more generic than the first five, like it jumped the shark.

And now for the little bits of praise, I like how Max and Ruby care for each other, even if they are heavily flawed, and the character designs are pretty cute.

But anyway, while I see why this show became as popular as it did and it has a fanbase, I still don't like it. It also makes me sad that other Nick Jr. shows like The Fresh Beat Band, and even other Nickelodeon shows like Robot & Monster and Back at the Barnyard, don't get the amount of love this show gets. I find all 3 extremely underrated IMO.

Well, that's all I have to say for this.

I can't tell if Austin & Ally is overrated or underrated

Some people here seem to like it, and some seem to hate it. I'd consider myself to be in the majority that likes it. I personally find it better than Hannah Montana too (which is mid IMO, that and PJ Masks are my least favorite Disney Channel/Jr. shows)

Has anyone here seen Maraka?

This was originally from SNL's TV Funhouse, and I just watched this today, laughed at almost every joke, especially since I find Dora annoying 🤣🤣🤣

Worst episode(s)?

What are y'all's worst (or just least favorite) episodes in your opinions?

Personally, I dislike the first two episodes (Door to Door and Give Blood), Sick (the absolute worst IMO), Yogurt's Cool, Young Gifted & Crude (especially that ending), Our Founding Losers (boring), Going Down (season 8 finale), The Special One (also boring), and Breeding Frenzy.

Does anyone remember Dance-a-Lot Robot?

It was one of those short stuff that used to play in between shows. But anyway, it was a robot teaching 2 kids how to do a new dance. I remember the songs being kinda fire, and my theme song being my favorite. It was also one of my favorite short shows, and possibly the most underrated one from Disney Junior. The most I remember watching it was when I was 6 years old in 2015 in the mornings while waiting for Babar & the Adventures of Badou to come on.

Can I be honest

I understand how upset Sally was when she didn’t get to go trick or treating or to the Halloween party in It’s the Great Pumpkin, but I don’t think she should’ve taken it out on Linus. She kept complaining it was his fault, she was “robbed”, that she had to “listen to him” (he didn’t even force her to stay), and that he owed her “restitution”, all while hypocritically saying “what a fool I was”. To me, it was her own fault, she chose to stay with him. I actually felt bad for Linus during that part.

Has anyone had to watch that new show PJ Masks with their little siblings?

I absolutely hate it, that Romeo dude’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard, the characters are so needlessly mean, and every episode is the same thing. Not to mention it’s only a new show, but they already play it 3 times per day. Whatever happened to shows like PB&J Otter and Rolie Polie Olie? Why can’t they play those instead? I’d even take Handy Manny or Imagination Movers too, I actually kinda miss watching those with them. At least we still have Never Land Pirates.

Hot take

I’m 17 now, and even growing up as a 6 year old kid in 2015, I thought PJ Masks wasn’t a good show, it was just annoying to me. And it also got really repetitive how they showed the same episodes over and over and over again.

And I especially don’t like how they brought back the show for nighttime reruns in May, to me, they should’ve done something like Handy Manny or Imagination Movers.

I liked The Lion Guard, another new show around the time, a lot better.

What’s your least favorite Kodak song?

I hate All About That Bass

This is just my opinion, but this sounds like the Back at the Barnyard theme song if it were some soccer mom anthem.
