tech-paper.comHeads up, covid is the only thing "high" on Wastewaterscan.org right now
I hate it so much and it just keeps happening. Even intestinal infections like norovirus and rotavirus are at worst "medium" now.
I've seen speculation from epidemiologists the reason covid numbers cling so hard year after year is because it maybe be evolving from upper respiratory to a chronic GI tract infection, but that doesn't seem to be what's happening. Year-round winter and summer, it bounces from "low" to "medium" to "high" again with no rhyme or reason, while other infectious diseases flatten out to low.

youtu.beI'm trying to remember a female pop star on MTV a lot in the 1980s, who wore audio equipment like a tape deck or something strapped to her chest as clothing? Very racy and avant-garde at the time
Helpful if you can remember the song(s) so I can find on YouTube thanks :)
EDIT: Got it! You guys collectively are a human supercomputer. I never would have remembered on my own. Really fun subreddit btw :)

Finally bought a replacement F-150 for my 18 year old half ton pickup. While I was stashing the title in my file, I found out I still had the window sticker for my first ever new vehicle in 1993, also an F-150. That's $29,241 in 2026 dollars 😰

techfixated.comI went mountain biking in my 2025 Mazda today and the power windows were driving me crazy as always
When I'm getting set up to ride I have to run back and forth to the bike rack in the back to put on my water bottle and toolkit bag, etc. It's summer and it's hot if I sit there with the windows closed up while I'm setting my GPS and putting on gloves and helmet etc. For whatever reason, current Mazdas don't hold the door open very strongly, so I have to hold my foot against the door to keep it from blowing shut from even a mild wind while I'm getting set up. Annoying and awkward. I've been struggling with this for a year+.
EDIT:
Thanks to everybody for your suggestions. Tested a few last night.
What works:
When you stop, pressing and holding the shifter trigger before you press the start/stop button will put it into accessory mode.
There is no solution for it dropping out of accessory mode whenever you open the door, but the quickest way to get it back into accessory mode to close a window is press the start/stop button briefly with the fob so it reads the transponder chip (button light green), then release the brake and briefly press the button again (button light yellow). Now you can close the window.
Note that the solution may be different if you don't keep your fob in battery save mode for security reasons.
Anyway point of the post is Slate's manual windows completely solve this problem. No need to find work arounds to keep putting the vehicle back into accessory mode after you open a door so you can close the windows. Will be so refreshing.
