New house roof from unlicensed roofer. Am I screwed?

I live in a state where I don't need a licensed contractor for work under $7500 and got a quote below that from a roofer who does solid work but isn't licensed. My roof is very simple so I went with him seeing as a licensed guy would have been over 10k. I asked my insurance company what proof they need to update the policy and they said photos and an invoice with his lic. number.

Would they drop me for hiring an unlicensed guy when it wasn't required? When they inspected the old roof it was a quick look with a drone so they didn't seem too picky. I could just not tell them but then if a storm damages it and I have to make a claim...

Weird drainage line by my house. Is this common?

Hello, I just bought an old house here and found some oddly placed drain lines, one in the garage(?) and another by the back door. But there’s no storm drains on my end of the street just sewer. The pipes are clogged with mud and didnt Drain during a storm which really sucks and I want to clear it. The pipe wouldn’t drain to the sewer right? that’s seems wrong but there’s nothing else nearby.

What color would you suggest for the trim?

I did the faux limewash trick to get a terra cotta color. The carpet will be beige and the room gets little natural light.

  1. should I paint the ceiling as well?

  2. what color should I paint the door/trim?

As my spiritual awareness gets deeper, I care less about family and friends and relationships.

I've never felt close to my family despite a mostly healthy childhood. I can go weeks without seeing friends and not feel lonely. I haven't given up on dating as much as lost interest in it, which was never much to begin with. Is this because I lean too heavily on spirituality? I feel like these are external, material connections that don't interest me as much as the internal pursuit of wisdom. The problem is that life seems to demand I chase after money, family, possessions, etc. I bought a house recently and feel a lot of friction inside like I should sell it asap. When my last girlfriend broke up I felt relief more than heartbreak. My friends do not understand me at all and neither do I. A thousand years ago I would have pursued a monastic life but how do I find a compatible lifestyle in the modern world? Everything just feels off.

How to tell if the puer wants you to bail OR you genuinely don't want to commit?

I moved back home with grand ideas of taking over a friend’s business in my line of work but I don’t want it now after a few months. I’m good at the work and it pays well but it doesn't energize me and would involve a lot of customer service if I took over next year which is just not my strength. The idea of committing and doing this for years on end sounds like torture compared to my last job which was similar but seasonal so I knew it wouldn’t last long. If I go back to seasonal work it allows for a lot of time off which I liked, but that kind of life needs less commitment and I wonder if that’s the puer archetype calling the shots. I’m not lazy on a job and will bust my butt, but after a few months I always find myself dreaming of the next opportunity.

So how do you tell the difference between “this is who I really am so I should trust my intuition” vs. the puer that fears anything long term?

Uninterupted GEC question, see picture.

Pic is just an example and not my installation. Our local inspector is calling for a single uninterrupted GEC path that just seems unnecessary. From the ground rod we go:

  1. through the comm bridge
  2. into the panel
  3. through the bonded ground bar
  4. through the offset nipple into the meter
  5. make a VERY tight loop back to pass through a lug on a grounding bushing then
  6. landing at the meter ground.

I don't see this configuration even on new-ish panels we work on, especially number 5. I'm more of a commercial/industrial guy so enlighten me if this is correct? Meter is accessible on a permanent residential building.
