Took Clie out of storage

Took Clie out of storage

Does anyone know where I can find info on making it work again? I charged it overnight and it starts up but the screen doesn't really get bright enough to see, and then it shuts down.

Any insight or suggestions on where I could find info?

I found a Jimmy Carter.

Was I supposed to move it somewhere?

How to jog slower?

Been getting back into jogging following a hospitalization and using ai to interpret the info from my Garmin. I know the idea of the "recovery run" is controversial to some, but AI keeps suggesting that my runs are too intense and I spend too much time in zones 3 and 4, and that I mix it up with recovery runs. I've tried slowing down manually as well as talking to myself as I jog.

Can anyone suggest any tips or tricks on how to perform "recovery runs"?

Cowboy boots?

Sorry if this is outside of the scope of TSA, but I'd like to bring my cowboy boots with me, but not wear them. My luggage is already pretty full, so I was thinking I could wear my boots through security check, and then take them off and carry them with me and put on flip flops? I'll also have my carry on and purse sized bag with me.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I've been quarreling with the neighborhood dogs again.

It seems like every few months I've got a problem with the same pack of dogs that roam my neighborhood. We fight over mostly normal things; turf, table scraps, access to the watering hole, etc. Things have escalated in the past though. I punched a cocker spaniel right in the mouth one time because he was chewing on a bicycle tire hose that I wanted.

Well they've been back up to it again. I woke up at 3 am and had to chase them out of my flower garden. My husband tells me just to ignore them and go back to bed, but he doesn't get it. Men, amiright?

I've been stealing Rudy's bbq sauce packs.

I'm leaving TX so I've been stocking up on Rudy's sauce packs. I'll go in and buy my usual order, and then grab an additional 5-10 packets. As many as I think I can get away with, depending on who's working. I also go to different locations to mix it up. My plan is to leave TX with enough Rudy's sauce packets until I come back to visit in 6-8 months. I've also been sending them to friends in other states.

Does anyone have any idea what the shelf life for the packets is? Additionally, does anyone have any suggestions for sealed sauce packets that have a long shelf life that I can steal from other stores?

Crouching?

Sorry if this is common knowledge or too simple, but is crouching really that good for you? I've been trying to crouch while watching TV and I am worried it may be doing damage to my knees? Any insight or information would be appreciated.

TIA!

Well I pooed myself...again.

Well it happened again. I was in church after having 3 lattes and 2 beefy bean burritos with extra peanut butter and the worst happened, again. I need to stop going to breakfast before church, but the lines are always so much shorter. I was just sitting there and thought I had to let out a little toot, then BLAM. Just ruined my new khakis. It probably wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't yelled out "oh please lord, not again, not this time!" as I loudly grasped the church pew in front of me. Can't wear those pants to work on Monday.

I at least thought no one noticed this time, but boy was I wrong. Father Johnston at least didn't yell at me this time tho, so that was good. He did look very concerned as he explained to me that I shouldn't sneak my own peanut butter into restaurants, and reminded me that it had been explained to me numerous times already. The choir boys also weren't laughing as much, they just seemed concerned or scared. One was crying, but I think that was related to something else. Father Johnston said I could take a break from attending church for a little while. He said I had enough of the spirit in me, and they needed to have the altar fumigated.

My uncle hosed me down in the backyard before I was allowed in the house again, just like last time. He seems like he's not spraying it directly in my face and chuckling as much, which feels like an improvement. The barn animals did keep their distance this time too. It's just like Father Johnston says; "sometimes things improve with time and the loving care of God. For the love of God, please let things get better." He's such a kidder.

So here I sit, eating my beefy bean burrito of sorrow. Some days are just rougher than others, I tell ya.

Leaving the medspouse world.

So I'm sort of at the other end of the medspouse world of those coming in- moving for residency, and dealing with absurd work schedules, etc. My partner is retiring and we're moving to Europe so I can pursue my PhD.

We've been together since our early 20s and did the med school, residency, and placement thing, and they're about to be the stay at home while I'm busy. The tables have flipped.

I'm happy to answer any questions about what the process is like in hindsight, but I do wanna communicate that it is ROUGH, and like with any walk of life you pick up skills that other people in other walks of life don't understand, which is why I really like r/medspouse. Like, right now as we're moving I'm having to get rid of most of our stuff, and while there's some sorrow at needing to relocate after working so hard to build a life here, I can't help but feel some animosity from the people I've made friends with here and I'm cautious to not seem like I'm bragging while giving stuff away. It's weird telling people "oh, my spouse is a doctor and we're retiring so I can pursue my PhD in a foreign country, do you want all of our cast iron?" While it does sound awesome, and I'm grateful for the opportunity, I can't communicate to them about the 2 decades of living frugally, and the sacrifices in our youth, and the lonely nights, and the caustic work environment that we had to juggle to get here. We get it from my spouses peers too- it's not just the friends we've made along the way.

For me being a medspouse has been about playing a supportive roll while basically learning how to be single while in a relationship. The loneliness was real, and while I resented it at first, it really gave me the opportunity to get in touch with myself in a way that a lot of people never do. I didn't get married to live as a single person, ESPECIALLY during the pandemic. I am VERY excited to be looking forward to a more normal relationship.

Being a medspouse has lots of ups and downs and while there's a ton to be grateful for, I am really not sure it's for everyone. It's hard to know you're second to a career, especially while you have to support that spouse in that career, while not allowing that to leak into your relationship so things can remain as balanced as possible and your role doesn't become one of subservience. It takes a toll and I am grateful that I've been able to learn from playing that role.

I am happy to answer any questions, but I'd also love feedback about anyone who's been through what we're doing, or what I can look forward to with being in a "normal" relationship again.

8x10 ruggable $250 obo

Maral Heriz design, $250 obo

Does not include under padding, which is approximately $200 at the online store.

No stains but it is from a house with 2 dogs and a cat. I don't smell any odors, but it can be washed.

8x10 ruggable $350 obo

Has been washed and there are no stains, but it does come from a house with 2 dogs and a cat. I don't notice any smells, but it can be washed again in most washing machines.

Not included is the under matting. They can be bought new for around $200, so you're still getting a complete rug and matting for the price of just the rug.

Sink wash running shorts?

I've got a bunch of traveling coming up and I won't always be near a washing machine. Can anyone suggestion a good brand of jogging shorts, and potentially shirts, that I can wash in a hotel sink and let dry in the shower? I'd also prefer if they pack down tight too.

An old friend

I used to hike with some older guys after I finished college. One of them went on to work for an adventure magazine and he's always posting photos of doing amazing things. This morning he posted one of his regular jog stats - about 13 miles in just under 2 hours. I get that this guy does this stuff for a living, but I'm already old and he's still older than me. Back then I couldn't keep up with him while we were hiking, but goddamn, that's really impressive.

End of rant.
