What's YOUR personal headcanon for the "Order of the Elements"?

As far as I know, there's no official order the elements belong in. My personal headcanon is based partially on the release order of the skylanders in starter packs, and then partly on vibes after that.

Fun Fact: The Volcanic Vault icon in some games is just a photo taken of the toy itself, and photoshopped to remove the background

Visited my local Petco today. They told me the Desk Pet branding was removed thanks to complaints to corporate!

Still not ideal for the Pacman frogs. They should still be in one of the proper temporary enclosures. But a win is still a win (still, do not buy these!)

INTRODUCING CUSTOM FLAIRS! (Read More Below)

Hello all,

Once the new mods and I took over r/Skylanders, we noticed the user flair options were... kind of a mess.

As such, we've gone ahead and done a full reset of the user flairs available. To both condense it / clean it up AND give you an option to make your own! You may have noticed the last couple days that your user flair was gone. This is why.

So... Introducing custom flairs! No need to stick strictly to Skylanders, Villains, Vehicles, and Element Names per each specific elemental flair. You can put anything you'd like there, so long as it is skylanders-related, not NSFW, nor attempts to impersonate a moderator.

With this new privilege, comes a new rule. Exactly what I just said above, is now an official rule, Rule 8. If you see anyone with a flair that is inappropriate, irrelevant, or impersonating a mod, please report it. Scroll to the second image to read the exact wording of the new rule.

Also, to keep the sub's aesthetic cohesive, please try your best to format the text as shown in the flair list (shown on third image). Don't stress, you won't be penalized for wonky text formatting, but if a mod spots you with it, they may change it to be more consistent *without* changing the content. That said, please do not change the element emoji, where it is located, or the body / text color of the flair.

The mods are excited to see what new flairs you come up with!

Stay awesome.

You can now make CUSTOM FLAIRS of the species you keep on r/TreeFrogs!

Hey all. I've added an option to list your own species you keep, including ones not already in the user flair list. It's the only editable flair, and the one you'll have to use if you want multiple species listed. Try to keep it concise and properly capitalized (i.e. Red Eyes, American Greens). Thanks!

The Reddit "For You" page has me about to delete my account

Reddit meta post I know. But this sucks.

It's not optional. The admins have said it's an "experiment". Likely at the behest of some suits and their overpriced consultants.

The worst part is that if I'm on a post, and I try to go back to my homepage, it defaults back to "For You" so I have to click on "Following" again, resetting my homepage back to the top of the feed.

And the "For You" page by the way? Just full of all the slop karma farm subs, political subs, and subs only tangentially related to my interests. Subs I left a long time ago, and not topics I'm interested in.

Fuck Reddit. This is the only social media I still have, and I'm about to delete it too. This is straight garbage.

Extremely finnicky mobile stream despite high bandwidth cellular, and low graphics settings

Please help lol. I just bought 200 dollars worth of tech to remote into my Xbox 360 while I'm at work. I haven't tested that yet, just trying to get parsec to be more stable.

Switching between monitors really messes with it. Changing resolution and bandwidth limits barely changes behavior. Ookla Speed Test says I have 1500mbps download on T-Mobile.

Most times when I open up the stream, it just shows a still capture of my third monitor and switching monitors in settings rarely does anything.

New Mod Team Introductions and Announcements! 🚨🚨🚨

Hello everyone! I'm here to welcome in the new mod team!

We have a few announcements to make. But, before we get to that, I'd like to take a moment to introduce everyone in the new team, in their own words.

Starting with me... "I'm Chapin, aka u/chapinscott32. I've been a member of this sub since 2020, and a fan of the series since I was 8 (SSA release, 2010). I've always been a completionist with this series, collecting as completely as I could as a kid. And today having a complete collection of everything other than chase variants. I love skylanders and want the best for it and for our community. I'm excited for this opportunity!"

From u/FinnMuzz... "I am u/FinnMuzz, also known as FinnMuzz. I've been playing skylanders since 2012 and have been a part of this community since.. I don't actually remember but it's been a while. I like the skylander and I play the skylander game and post funnies about the Skylander game. However as much as I love this series I do not enjoy imaginators. I am also a new moderator for r/Skylanders now so that is fun like the fun skylander game that I play."

From u/ZestLord69... "I am u/ZestLord69, also just called Zest. I’ve been a fan of this series since December 2011. I’ve been a semi-frequent poster on here for a while, and I’m a major editor on the new Skylanders wiki. I’m looking forward to being a good moderator for this community :) "

From u/Odd-Plenty9367... "I am u/odd-plenty9367 I have been into skylanders for a very long time and been collecting a bunch more recently.

I have been here for a quite bit now and this sub is goated therfore I would love to help.

Hopefully I can be great moderator and support.

Ps I am certified ykw2 competitive player 🥹"

And last but not least, u/noah64exe... "I’m u/noah64exe and I’ve been playing skylanders since 2013. Been a member here of the subreddit for a few years now, and own the entire base set of figures. I hope to be able to take in community feedback to make this subreddit a better place for all."

/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-/-

We all look forward to serving you all! We're here to moderate, not to rule, like a lot of mods do. There's a stigma, and rightfully so lol.

Skylanders is an older game now, with lots of passionate fans. All of us have varying opinions about the series, including us as mods. We will *never* impose our will on you all, but you should expect us to continue participating in discussions! We want to continue to be active members in the community.

With that out of the way, we have a few announcements related to rule changes and community engagement.

  1. We will be much better about enforcing penalties for toxic / bigoted behavior. (Make sure to report any problems you find, as we can't moderate things we can't see.) This includes toxicity towards character ships and headcanons. The sub has been having a problem with this for a while now. We recognize that some people have fled to other Skylanders related subs because of this problem, and we hope they can feel at home here again.

  2. We will begin to create mega threads on certain popular / newsworthy topics, and enforce limits on repetitive, low effort, spammy posts.

  3. We will have votes on future rule changes regarding Generative AI usage, Skylanders sales / appraisals, anything else you guys might ask to change in the comments of THIS post. Keep an eye out for posts about these rule votes!

  4. We're contemplating ways to eventually increase community engagement. For-fun mod-run polls, contests for who can create the best sub profile picture / banner, and a few other ideas were spitballing. If you have any ideas for this, share them below!

I hope our new team will usher in better days for the Skylanders subreddit. It's grown so much since I joined in 2020, and we're seeing a resurgence in the game's popularity in pop culture and social media. As the subreddit grows more popular, we hope to sustain it and keep it a healthy and thriving community.

If any of you have any questions, comments, or concern, feel free to leave them below or reach out to modmail directly if you feel it is right.

We'll see you around.

The "funny" comments on this sub aren't funny, they're disturbing - meta discussion

Hey all,

I wanted to address something that really bothers me on this sub.

This place should be a shining example of where humans came from, and the roots of life. Nature's most brutal, but real, moments. It should serve as a reminder that the only thing separating us from this is the technology and society we've built to shield ourselves from this brutality.

It should humble us, and make us realize that we're the same bags of meat, with all the capabilities to get gored all the same as a poor antelope or buffalo.

When I see a particularly gruesome post, I usually want to go to the comments for analysis or more introspection from others. I expect to see disturbed, shocked, or even just morbidly curious comments.

Instead, I get met with the first handful of comments being tasteless jokes. Reddit is full of these corny jokes, but on a post where you just saw the entire bowels of a zebra hanging out of them, or where you just saw a deer getting *literally* ripped to shreds while still alive by a pack of hyenas... maybe it's not the time.... MAYBE we should take the moment to pause and humble ourselves.

When I go into the comments sections on this sub, a lot of the times they disgust me more than the content of the video itself. It's like this sub has attracted the "psychopath wannabe-animal-abuser/murderer" demographic, rather than the "morbidly curious scientific / nature lover" crowds.

I saved the draft for this and tried to go get examples. But there were just too many to choose from. It's all over. If you want examples just go find videos of gored animals and look at the top 2-3 comment chains. You'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

So for the mods... if text isn't allowed, so be it, delete this (but you should disallow text posts for the future). Either way, I hope you consider making this a rule.

For everyone else... I'm not one to lecture, but try to do better. Use this sub as a tool to remind yourself where we came from. Don't use the suffering and end of a living being to make a witty joke for a few fake internet points. It's off-putting.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Anthony Gallegos on the the non-violence debate

There's a lot more nuance behind the choice to remove combat than most realize. It's not some higher moral argument, but rather simply that it's opposed to the very core of what Subnautica is.

Anthony breaks down the reasoning behind the studio's philosophy on why violence doesn't belong in Subnautica 2.

Long time Dbrand loyalist - something's changed

EDIT: Before you read this, I'm a fucking idiot. Dbrand gave me a nice little writeup to tell me how much of an idiot I am, if you care to read it below. Praise be to the robots...

They're not the company they used to be anymore. They're just not.

- The quality of the vinyl has gone downhill.

- They don't do the full coverage wraps anymore.

- The skins have started rapidly shrinking on phones.

- Funny comments in the notes of my orders no longer get personalized sticky notes, even on large orders.

- The customizability of skins is completely gone. You can't choose to have or not have logo cutouts or change camera bump colors (I understand this largely happened due to machining changes, I still disagree with the decision). Despite this, the website still pretends like you chose whether you wanted a logo cutout or not.

I remember one time getting a post-it of Donald Duck flipping me off. For a simple note like "fuck you" along with my order. It was incredible. It replaced the star on top of my Christmas tree in college lol. I loved the personality they had... that was only a few years ago.

It seems like they're focused on too much cost cutting and efficiency maximizing, and are almost shifting away from being a wraps company, to an accessories company.

The skins I had back then never shrunk like they do now. I have a Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Before this I had the 6 Pro. Heat was WAY worse on the 6. Like, burn my fingers hot. The 10 is tame in comparison. Yet, somehow, the shrinking problem is way worse... So clearly it's not just hotter phones to blame. Customer service replacing shrinking skins is a bandaid on the problem. It'll fix the customer's problem for a few months, then it'll shrink again, and they'll give up, because why go through that hassle every few months for some fancy plastic that doesn't even protect the edges of your phone anymore anyways?

Despite all this, there's no quality alternative, other than just no longer using skins at all. This sucks. Up until about a year ago I was singing their praises from the rooftops. It looks like, soon, they're going to be no different than every other shitty vinyl wrap company. Slickwraps is your competitor, not your role model lol.

So what's happened here. Is private equity involved? Or is it just run of the mill enshittification / bad economic conditions to blame?

I just received a 100 dollar order. For new screen protectors, a couple accessories, and the leather skin. No sticky note, whatever. But if the leather skin shrinks too, they can kiss my future dollars goodbye. I'll go buy a spigen or something.

I just hope the robots actually listen to the criticism instead of giving a witty reply or a "haha fuck you" and move on like they usually do.

I want the old Dbrand back.

AR blew up in my face while shooting family-made reloads - Need advice

As the title says.

My brother reloaded about four-hundred .223 rounds for me. I got about 15 rounds into his stash when this happened.

First and foremost, yes, I got lucky and came out uninjured.

But now my BCG and charging handle are totally stuck, and one of my magazines exploded. The magazine got launched out the bottom of the gun when it happened. My grandfather will be buying replacement parts for me once they figure out what's wrong (he owns a gun shop that my brother will be taking over).

For some history on this gun, I've only had it about a year. A few months after I got it, and about 1000rds through the gun, I replaced the barrel. Due to how few rounds were through it, we figured it was okay to skip replacing the bolt. Which seemed correct, since it has now had another 2000 rounds through it without incident. The first time it's had a problem, was this. Which leads me to believe it was a problem with the rounds and not the gun itself.

The thing is though, I've put countless of my brother's .44 magnum reloads through my lever action hunting rifle. Not once have those had a problem. And a good number of them through a revolver. No squibs. No explosions.

Now I wonder if there's a real difference between the .44 and the .223 or if I'm just making this up - but I am now terrified to put .223 reloads through my AR, while I'm totally okay with continuing to use his .44. I know there are some differences between pistol and rifle powders, but I don't know any specifics. Is it because of the higher level of mechanical complexity and rate of fire in an AR? Or am I just trying to subconsciously soothe myself?

I feel bad for my younger brother, because he worked hard on these, and he was excited for me to shoot them. I know he feels bad, but he also at the same time swears everything was exactly to spec. I believe he really tried, but the fact that one exploded my gun only 15 rounds in makes me think otherwise, when the gun has had ~3000 factory rounds through it without a problem.

But, if it weren't for the fact that he and my grandpa asked me to pay for the ammo ($200), I would just squirrel it away and only shoot it in a life or death scenario.

Need some advice on how to talk to them about this. Whether my fears of shooting .223 reloads but not .44 reloads is real or hogwash. And, whether or not I should ask for a refund on the ammo (because frankly that's money I should put towards loans anyways).

Thank you all for your time.

Considering waiting for full release? Read this - from a Subnautica veteran.

Subnautica is my favorite game series of all time and I wish nothing but the best for our community, for the devs, and for the game itself.

As a Subnautica 1 veteran, here since the days of Markiplier and Jack's first Early Access playthroughs, I gotta say I am really surprised by how few in the community have been here as long as I have - or rather - how much the community has grown since then!

This is a good thing, but I feel like the "newcomers" (who are now the large majority) don't quite understand what Early Access is, and why it exists, for this game.... Why the devs keep saying Early Access is core to who they are and to what Subnautica is. They're not making this up as an excuse to release an unfinished product. It's simply the truth.

Quite frankly I wish every single Subnautica player could have experienced Early Access. To me, it is core to what Subnautica is. For years after SN1's full launch, it didn't feel... real? But in a good way? Idk, it's an odd feeling to describe, but it was bittersweet. To see so many people abstain from participating, and missing out on this experience, quite frankly, makes me sad.

Almost every comment I see in this specific discussion talks about how they only ever played SN1 after full release. For those of you in that boat, allow me to make my pitch on why you all SHOULD play Early Access for Subnautica 2.

...

I fear a lot of you may only have experience with Below Zero Early Access... it might have tainted your understanding of what EA is supposed to be. COVID disrupted production, story writers switched mid-development, and as such they couldn't internalize Early Access critique from the community as well as they did in SN1.

But Subnautica 1 Early Access was totally, totally, different. It fundamentally built Subnautica into what it is today. Without it, we would have a wildly different game. One closer to Minecraft, with procedurally generated terrain, without a 3D explorable Aurora set piece, without leviathans. And instead we'd have a terraformer tool, to scrappily reshape the land into whatever random blobs of dirt we feel like... Doesn't sound like the masterpiece we know and love today.

But that's the thing. There was content back then that no longer exists now. The terraformer, the transfuser / centrifuge, the sandworm, and countless biomes and creatures that got repurposed (imo, poorly) into Subnautica Below Zero.

There will, no doubt, be things in the game on May 14th 2026, that won't be there in full launch 2028-2029. That's just how this goes. If you don't play the game, you will miss these things and sit exactly where you are again now. Hearing some other players talk about all the content that isn't there any more, and (if I had to guess) wishing you would have experienced it when everybody else was, as part of the community.

Speaking of the community, that's where the second part of this comes in...

The community vibe during Early Access is just incredible. The theories of where certain story points are leading... the concept art posted... the speculation about a random lump of landmass that's just plain sand at the moment, wondering what biome might go there, what kind of creatures will inhabit it, and what it might bring to the game. Data mining to find what the devs are actively working on, and funny oversights like discovering the Precursor buildings were coming via the Entity Gallery command... good times.

I still look at images of the map sometimes and imagine the Arctic biome on the peninsula at the rear of the Aurora, and what that would've been like... or Twisty Bridges where the Crag fields are now. I remember swimming over what is now the dunes, wondering what this flat sandy area was going to become. Now the dunes is one of the most iconic biomes with a PDA line that spans pop culture beyond our own community.

We're already seeing hints of this theory crafting and speculation, and I am SO excited to relive this! This was, hands down, my favorite part of SN1 EA.

And finally, that's where the community's role in development comes in. Looping back to the beginning of my monologue, Subnautica would be a radically different game without the community making critiques during Early Access development.

Subnautica 2, while it may have a much better foundation than SN1 did, YOUR critique is only going to make the game even better. The devs can see how we play the game, what we try to do with it, and what people want. It is, again, the reason we have an explorable Aurora set piece, and leviathans. Who knows what will become of the game as they see how we interact with the world. The more data they have the better.

It's not like your replay on full launch will be tarnished because you played early access. The game is likely to change a lot, and the ending isn't going to be released until the very end of development. No matter what, by the time you come back to it, there will be something new for you waiting.

So, my TL;DR is this: Early Access exists for a reason - it is part of the fabric of Subnautica. Opting out of Early Access means you are not only depriving the developers of data that can be used to improve the game even more, but you are also missing out on content that won't return, and the camaraderie behind speculation for future updates.

At the end of the day, it's your decision. This is just my perspective. But I truly believe that the people opting out of Early Access will be missing a lot of the core experience behind what makes Subnautica, Subnautica.

Edit: I wanted to clarify one quick little thing because I think there's a few people under the impression that I'm trying to tell people what to do because "I know better". This is not the case. All I'm trying to do is to provide some food for thought, as someone who's seen peak early-access days. Whether you play it or not truly has no impact on me. I just want the game to be great and for everyone to have a good time!
