Insecure about driving

For people with a driver’s license, how did you become more comfortable with the decisions you make on the road?
One of the things that scares me because of my AvPD is driving on roads where other people can see me make mistakes and I feel judged. Realistically, I know the rules, and I know when I make a mistake, but the anxiety makes me want to never drive again. That’s one of the reasons I didn’t start driving until I was 22.
I had a driving lesson today, and I fucked up what felt like a billion times. I was so embarrassed that my instructor eventually told me to park the car so we could have a conversation. They pointed out that I’m way too hard on myself and that, despite the mistakes, I was doing a lot of things well. They also said that I’m too unsure of myself when I’m driving.
When I got home, I took notes on the things I could improve, which I know is useful, but I’m still stressed about my uncertainty even when I know I’m doing the right thing.
I’d really appreciate hearing from other people with AvPD who struggle with the same thing. How did you learn to trust yourself more while driving and stop feeling so judged or embarrassed when you made mistakes?

Booking appointments over the phone

Am I the only one who prepares exactly what they’re going to say when booking a doctor’s appointment, only to abandon the script at the last minute because my mind goes blank when they pick up? I had this whole script prepared, but I was so stressed out that I just started blabbering 😭

What’s the point

Is there any point in continuing to struggle when I have no more will to fight? I’m 22 now and was diagnosed with AvPD last year, although my therapists wanted to test me for it when I was 18, but they thought I was too young. The worst period of my life, when I didn’t leave the four walls of my bedroom, was in 2022–2023. I’ve made a lot of progress in my life. I’m able to go to the store by myself, walk outside without being afraid of other people, and generally feel okay being around others in public. I even started a non-paying job just to start somewhere. I’m somewhat proud of my progress, but, like, how pathetic is it to be proud of something that most people have learned to do since childhood?
I’m tired of living my life like this, and I know for a fact that I will never have a normal life because I’m terrified of pushing myself further to achieve anything. In the perfect life, I would have gone to university and gotten a proper job. I feel like my life is worth nothing and that it will never get better, so why try? All I have is my family, but at what point do I stop living for them and just let everything go? I’m so tired of life. I never wanted to be here in the first place. This is so embarrassing but I have no one to vent to.

Any tips for someone who struggles with numbers?

I got a part-time job at a café, and I start next week. I’ve never used a cash register before, and I’m incredibly nervous because I struggle with counting and numbers in general. People have told me not to stress because most cash registers do the work for you, but it’s an old café, so I’m not sure how modern their register is.
Regardless of whether it’s new or old, I’m still worried that I’ll struggle with giving customers the correct change. If you’ve worked with a cash register or handled money as part of your job, how did you navigate it?

Losing stomach fat

I’m a 22 year old woman who went from 74 kg to 54/55 kg over the span of almost a year. I lost weight by walking 10 to 15k steps every day, switching to healthier foods, and working out at the gym.
A couple of months ago, I cancelled my gym membership because I’m honestly just not interested in working out, and I never really have been. I saw more results from walking, so I’ve stuck with that because it works better for me.
The last bit of fat seems to be stuck around my stomach, and I was wondering if there are any simple workouts I can do at home to help with that. I thought losing more weight would help, but I know you can’t really target stomach fat specifically.
