Wow, you look really hungover Dad. What did you do last night?
... uh, hello big Maggie

... uh, hello big Maggie
Who's for tea and shmavouries? Scoffed kippers anyone?
Yes!
... ooh look it's the centaur race!
Surprisingly dull so far
I own one share of Planet Kajigger so I'm entitled to some answers!
HEADLINE EDIT: Yeah so when I wrote this, I didn't truly realise I had a swollen battery and that repairing that might also mean a lot of other repairs. So I've just bit the bullet and brought a Pixel 10 instead
So I have a Google Pixel 7 which I've had since 2023, but of late, it's hit trouble
On three occasions today, it's crashed at around half battery life, maybe around 40 per cent battery life, and emptied its battery altogether. It will charge back up to full battery, but the issue is clearly not going away
My parents think its possible the extreme heat we've had in the UK could be a factor, while it also feels like the battery life (which is already an issue with this device) has got worse since I had to change my broken charger a month or so ago, but it's unsustainable for the phone to just exhaust its battery like this
Under settings, it was saying that the battery has exceeded its life span and needs replacing, while there appears to be some damage in one of the corners
So... chat, do we think this phone is salvageable or is it time to cut my losses and move on?
I'm not sure where I'd go - the Pixel I've had is good but I have reservations about newer models of this phone seemingly being insistent on sending everything through Gemini, which I just don't like and find unnecessary
EDIT: So on top of the central issue of a quick-draining battery, something I didn't mention until doing research just now is that it turns out this device has a swollen battery pushing one of the screen corners. As if I needed another sign the battery's totally fucked
I'm just going to cut my losses and replace it
The pollution in your lake! It's dissolving our barge!
Felt appropriate given it's been 35 degrees all week in the UK, which is still seemingly designed for a time when 25 was a hot summer's day
Fear not, I shall assist ye
Boy, this heater is incredible! I'd better turn up the AC some more!
Chances are you might remember these shenanigans
EDIT: Also found the post-race discussion Reddit. Some of these did make laugh
A memory ping came up that all the way back in 2013 was a big day in Killers history as they played a big show at Wembley in London, one that I went to
Kinda wild to think this was 13 years ago. But then tbf we're all getting older so maybe I should've guessed
I remember this being quite a fun adventure. Long setlist, crowd was up for it, band sounded good - seemed to go quite well
Setlist here: The Killers Concert Setlist at Wembley Stadium, London on June 22, 2013 | setlist.fm
So... anyone else have memories of this night?
It popped up that today is the day in-between two anniversaries of times I've seen Green Day, in one of those "Oh crikey how time flies" moments I think we all have
First time was seeing them at Wembley Stadium on 19 June 2010. This was a proper epic with a 3 hour setlist (as seen here), a wide litany of big hits and deep cuts, songs done on the fly and it just felt like a really great day out. And this was on a day when I'd been interested in going to hang out with my friends I ultimately failed to even meet. Which is, when written down, ridiculous
The other is 21 June 2024, which was seeing Green Day in Manchester on a day trip up there to experience their most recent tour with all the joys of Dookie & American Idiot in full (setlist can be seen here). This was also a really good show
As an aside, it's quite something to see how much camera technology has changed between my old Kodak digital camera in 2010 and the one on my Google Pixel smartphone in 2024. The older one actually has quite a nice warm feeling to it. Or maybe its just the way older photos now look on here
So, anyone with nostalgia for either the 21st Century Breakdown days or even the more recent Saviours stuff, comment below
Why yes, I do like using this line a lot in real life, why do you ask?
Thanks for the help Leela
Remember when I giggled at his Sherlock Holmes hat? He sulked for a week and then closed his detective agency
While the European tour announced this week didn't have a support act, I did just have a thought about what supports I've had for Muse before
So thought I'd throw it open to all and see what your favourite support acts seeing Muse over the years have been
For me, I think my outright favourite was Biffy Clyro at Wembley 2010. I was also impressed by support slots from Nothing But Thieves, Royal Blood, The Warning, Phantogram, Marmozets and The Joy Formidable over the years
You can submit festival openers if something cool happened at one of those. Of those I saw before Muse at Reading 2011 in my only time seeing them at a festival, the one that sticks out as being particularly awesome was Friendly Fires. Much as I love Interpol, I've seen them better at their own shows
