FYI: UCI Track Racing at Carson Velodrome July 3-5

I just found out through my bike club that UCI-ranked track racing is happening next weekend in Carson, CA.

Looking at the start lists for this weekend, it's a proper international field. So next weekend should be good.

Not sure why international fields showing up in Carson isn't more broadly advertised, but, here we are.

Late Post: Mert Lawwill Passed

Most of you probably don’t know who Mert was.

He was An instrumental and innovative suspension engineer in the early days of mountain bike suspension design. Prior to that, a *badass* grand national champion motorcycle racer in dirt track.

If you haven’t seen On Any Sunday, Mert is featured during the TT part. A little dated, but, still a good movie.

The phrase “standing on the shoulders of giants” applies to Mert’s contributions to mountain biking. His original designs have been iterated to what you ride today.

New owner of an older (1960) house on a slab in Southern California.

There is an unfinished/exposed area below the sliding glass door that I’ve labeled as such in the photo. In case it isn’t obvious, it’s stucco on slab that has been beat up by the rocks.

In my head it’s not really important to finish it. It is definitely an awkward (very small) step up from the yard and over the sliding glass door rail.

Looking for opinions on whether or not to do something with it, and what to do with it.
