That’s a perfect analogy.
Break that down for me.
Break that down for me.
Weird question I know… bear with me.
So I’ve recently started painting my nails, and I like theming them around events I’m going to. I’ve got my ticket for the weekender next March, and I’m trying to pin down what colours to go with (three max).
My first instinct is to go with blue, pink and yellow as these feature prominently on the cover of Almost Killed Me, and they’ve dubbed the next weekender show as “20 years of UK killer parties”. The other option I came up with is brown, black and silver/grey based on the poster. Curious what other people think colour-wise when they think of the band
I started painting my nails for the first time in my 40 year old male life recently, and I opted for Rimmel 60 as a start - partly because boots had it on 3-for-2 but mostly because the quick drying, and that it claimed to not need a base or top coat which makes life a lot easier when you’re starting out and learning… I’m looking to expand the colours available to me now, and so I’m looking for other product recommendations available in the UK that are similar in ease and drying time?
I'm writing a script that takes an input from the user, which could be either an int or a string. My current code takes the input, attempts to cast it to an int, and does something based on whether it works or not:
running = True
while running:
search_term = input("Enter search term (Q to quit): ")
try: int(search_term)
except ValueError:
if search_term.lower() != "q":
search_by_name(search_term)
else:
running = False
else:
search_by_int(int(search_term))
But there's something about having "successful" code running in the except block that gives me pause for thought. Is this just me overthinking, or is it bad form?
I'm looking at the comparison of Gamepass Pro vs Ultimate, and not sure if the extra £20 a year is worth it. I'm not concerned about the 5 devices in 1 location - 2 is enough for me, on the TV I use and a laptop showing something else at most. The alternate feeds and multiview - not overly interested either. And while I have a 4K tv, again I'm not overly worried about that. I've been happily watching in 720/1080 until now. Is there anything else extra that Ultimate gives over Pro that isn't immediately listed that may be worth paying the extra for? I know it's only £20 but I'm currently in a position where spending has to be considered carefully.
Also, if I end up travelling one weekend, can I still use it? I know there was a real backlash when DAZN first took over the system and people were locked to just their home address (causing many of us to look... elsewhere...) but is that resolved? The product page says "2 devices in 1 location", and the DAZN AI chatbot, which I trust about as much I trust any AI, says that travelling is fine so long as it's not to an excluded country...
Today I had three audio overviews completely fail on me with no error other than "Audio Overview generation failed. Try a new one." After some back and forth with the main chat, I was able to glean that it was because the audio hosts are set to avoid talking about explicit acts, things that would require them to talk about anything dirty etc. This confused me, because up until yesterday I've had no trouble getting audio generated for different narratives that feature high levels of intimate acts - some in quite explicit detail. What's doubly annoying is that a failed generation still eats your usage quota.
Another part of the problem is the overviews get auto-generated titles which have no such safeguards, but can cause a failure downstream - so if the title it picks features a word that it doesn't like, even something as mundane as "vibrator", then it will eventually fail.
The tip for now is to try and structure your prompts to avoid mentioning such things directly as much as you can. Feedback from the notebook chat itself (which resulted in a successful generation finally) include things like reframe the customization instructions to focus on the emotional and relationship dynamics rather than the physical details, frame the prompt around thematic, emotional, and narrative keywords etc.
Just a heads-up. I've submitted feedback about the various failure points, and how the exclusion of any explicit act like this can seriously hinder anyone writing from using it for research, as these are common things. Who knows, maybe tomorrow we'll find they've relaxed the filters, or maybe not.
Edit: I should clarify that the hosts will actually talk about the acts etc; listening to the ones I was able to generate they do a decent job. You just need to be careful about the prompting
(Caveat - no idea if it's a gradual rollout, or we all get it at once. Also caveat, I can only speak to my own use-cases, and I'm well aware that some of you will have different experiences based on your own needs.)
I was admittedly concerned about the new limitations when I heard about them, especially as a new user to Notebook. But my experience today has been fairly positive? I mainly use Notebook for generating audio overviews of primarily narrative transcripts, and the rolling reset has meant I go from 3 in a 24 hour period, to 2 every 5 hours.
My one concern is the weekly limit that's now being put in place, and the chat box seemingly contributing to the 5-hour limit - though maybe that's because I've been using to to create some material in the Studio panel. The weekly limit means you need to use about 14-15% of your allocation a day at max, unless you have some days where you don't use it, and I'm at 8% now, midway through the first day. Of course, that's after 3 audio overviews, 2 images and a markdown file - so fairly heavy usage on a free tier.
The last day or so I’ve noticed that audio overviews on Long setting have shrunk from 30-40 minutes to 20-25, with the same sources and similar prompts. Anyone else notice this?
I'm trying to upload some visual references into my notebooks, but some of them refuse to upload with no clear reason why. It just says a generic error "This image content is not supported". The images aren't 'unsavoury' in any way - nor are they large file sizes etc. I've tried making small edits to them - cropping, resizing, adding a mark to them - to make them look different to the notebook, along with converting between different formats, to no avail. Whether it's jpg, jpeg, png extension etc - some upload, some don't and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason. Anyone got any tips?
As the title says really. I can’t even remember it was during the escapist days or before. I think he spent the review talking about game design flaws or something and put that in the end card because his own games did something similar…
I have a script that I've written to update my pixela habit tracker every day when I do a workout, and rather than sit at my computer and run it I'd like to have it on my phone so I can just hit a shortcut and do it from there. I don't need any major editing capabilities (I can't imagine anything worse than trying to code on a phone screen!), just an interpreter environment and console that will support requests and datetime. I've looked into a few options like pythonista and juno, and while I appreciate the value in what they're offering, I'm not really looking to drop £10 or a pro subscription just to run a single script.
I've tried using pythonanywhere but I don't really like it all that much, especially how restrictive the free tier is - also it's down right now so I can't even add my script there. And pretty sure I couldn't make a shortcut to it anyway...
I’ve been listening to some deep dive audio overviews on my phone lately and noticed in my headphones they sounded weird, like the noise cancelling was just passing outside sound through instead of actually cancelling. I first thought my headphones were on the fritz but this morning I had one on in the car and the ICE screen was showing the phone call graphic. This feels like weird behaviour for something that’s being presented as a podcast. Is there a way to change it to be handled as normal audio?
I was able to work this out pretty easily but I’m a bit stuck as to what comes next. The only thing I know for sure is that the 3C= can’t be 5s as I only have 3 left and I need one of them in the upper left to make the 11. That still leaves possibilities of 2s and 6s, and I’m struggling to narrow it down based on anything else. I’ve tried reading the solving guide but I’ve never been able to follow them clearly enough to really make sense to me and my brain goes to mush.
Is there an obvious “this has to be X” I’m not seeing? Or is there a piece of logic to help narrow things down?
Last year I did WSET1 to understand more about wine, how to taste & describe them, work out what it is I do and don’t like etc… it’s been a huge help but I feel that as the year’s gone on I’ve definitely forgotten a lot of things. While I’m not planning on doing level 2 (largely due to cost and because I’m not interested in a wine-based profession) I would like to do something that can help keep me fresh other than just re-reading my notes. I saw this advertised on insta today and while I’m always wary of buying anything advertised like this it got me thinking that something along these lines would be useful for me - especially if I’m travelling. Does anyone have any recommendations for something like this?
I didn’t get a photo of the mousakka in the pan in-focus 😅 the wine was clearly the most important part… and yes it looks a lot better in the pan than when served!
The mousakka recipe was made up on the fly; with onion, garlic, bell peppers, carrots, courgette, mushrooms, canned tomatoes and lentils forming the “meat”, and the usual sliced aubergine and béchamel sauce.
Tzatziki recipe was from the chef at Oceanis Beach, Kos - and it’s a proper one, none of that “make it a herb sauce” nonsense. Full fat Greek yoghurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, a little vinegar, a dash of ouzo (it really lifts everything) and seasoned well with salt and pepper.
Greek salad is as simple as it gets. Tomato, cucumber, red onion, bell pepper, feta, olive oil, oregano, salt, pepper. Cut everything chunky and mix. Olives not pictured but were on the side (as some of our friends don’t like them)
I’m looking at replacing our 8.5Kw with a 9.5 unit, but I’m not sure if this circuit breaker is right. I keep seeing conflicting info about if I need a 40 or 45amp.
I’m not gonna do it myself of course but don’t want to waste time if it’s not suitable.
I reached out to support to ask why I wasn’t able to access my tickets, and this is what they said. The confirmation emails are stating that they’ll be available an hour after purchasing but this is incorrect - it’s the week before the event.
Hang on to your confirmation emails!
I’m finding myself really struggling with the gunners and resorting to cheese tactics of finding a spot under them where they can’t see me and chipping away with my grip gun. However this obviously doesn’t work for the one in the mines excavation site that’s guarding a mod (and is a real pain in the backside for the one in the middle of the bridge of that zone because you have to clear everything including the LunaDigger to find a good spot for that…)
The projectiles just come too thick and fast, and when you get into hacking range the machine gun just tears you apart immediately…
Simple patty, 125g of 80/20 Manx beef. Fried brown & red onions. Wholegrain mustard & ketchup.
The chips were parboiled and frozen a while back; defrosted and oven baked with oil and salt.
A simple, classic cheeseburger. Would have preferred sesame seed bun but only had brown buns in and wasn’t in a state to drive and get more.
