Tips for caring for baby when sick

I have a 9 month old. My husband had to go into work today. I have some sort of stomach bug. I co-sleep on a floor bed and was basically curled up in the fetal position all night and running to the bathroom in the middle of nursing. Today isnt much better. I currently have a lull in my nausea and i just got my baby to nap. I think ill just lay by him on the floor bed. But i dont know how to survive all day when he is awake. He doesn’t do much independent play and he is not the type to cuddle. Earlier I just laid on the floor of the play pen wrapped in a blanket while he crawled around and intermittently fussed. We dont do screentime, but i eventually turned on Ms Rachel as I laid there. I feel bad to let him fuss some but he wouldnt just sit by me and I was feeling so sick. Not sure how to survive the rest of the day.

Just another pediatrician post

Ive seen some posts on here sharing sleep training recommendations from their pediatrician. Just prefacing this my saying that im a nurse and like the practice we go to. In general, I think they are good. I am just choosing to ignore sleep recommendations.

At 9 month old check up this week the pediatrician said rocking and holding my baby to sleep “is like crack” for the baby, and that its the worst thing to do. He started out telling me all humans wake every 3-4 hours, so i thought he was going in a direction if babies waking at night is normal…but then he took a turn and told me its its not good to nurse my baby at night, etc. I just dont comment and just kind of listen. But then he ended with “people have different opinions on this and all opinions are okay”. It was all over the place lol

Anyways, ill just be over here stimulating my baby with crack, aka lots of oxytocin and love, as i rock him to sleep whenever he needs.

Silicone teethers on amazon vs plastic from well known brand

I have been looking for a pretend remote control for my baby. Amazon has a bunch of “food grade” silicone teethers that look exactly like roku remotes. However, they are all alphabet soup amazon brands. I have read that “food grade silicone” is not really a regulated term. Im wondering if it is better to just buy a plastic remote from a well known brand than a silicone one from a random Amazon brand. Whats your take on this? Im probably over thinking it. He is just 8 months old and still puts everything in his mouth so im trying to be mindful of that.

If you initially produced milk in both boobs, but your baby had a preference for one, did you just let your other boob dry up?

My 8 month old has always preferred the right, but over time has slowly nursed less and less on the right. Part of it is me stopping to offer the right most of the time because its just easier since i know he prefers the left. I used to be able to get him to to one night feed on the bad side…but the past week or so he is just exclusively nursing the left side. Ive been pumping the bad side twice a day to try to keep it “alive”. But im only getting like an ounce in the morning and another ounce at night. My good boob is clearly a round the clock milk producing machine. Wondering if its bad to just give up entirely on the bad boob?

Im a new SAHM working on re-vamping my wardrobe to be more SAHM friendly (over time and on a budget). I would love some easy outfits like matching sets. Any recommendations on where to find them with mostly natural fibers?! I have ordered some things from Pact in the past but havent loved the quality. Im looking at Haven Well Within right now. A little pricey, but I would just start with one set and see if I like it. I do enjoy thrifting, but its not the same with an 8 month old! Its hard to try stuff on and also hard to find matching sets. I also like Thred Up, but hard to find matching sets. I have tried to create matching sets in the past from picking two items that seem the same color, but colors can be deceiving based on the photos! Any other recommendations of stores to check out?!

Starting solids has been a bit stressful. My 8 month old now has an allergist and several allergies. He had a reaction to yogurt that earned him an allergist visit, further testing, and an epi pen. He also had a potential FPIES reaction to oats, but im not totally sure if he really did. And then today, after trying the tiniest amount of watered down peanut butter, he got hives around his mouth within 10 minutes. He is fine now. But we went to the ER and will be back to the allergist (who we arent even done following up with from the dairy reaction).

I EBF and the allergist told me its up to me if i want to experiment with avoiding his allergens. He used to have horrible eczema that the allergist wanted to get under control. So i cut dairy (but also did a bunch of other stuff to help him eczema) and the eczema improved. He also had horrible sleep for the longest time (like hourly waking for months). It seems like sleep has slightly improved since I cut dairy. The few times I have eaten dairy recently, I feel like he may be more wakeful at night…but he also could be teething amongst a whole bunch of other reasons for waking.

Anyways, im starving all the time due to breastfeeding. If I were to avoid dairy, peanut butter, and oats…what would I even eat?!

My other thought is - could it be like a tiny bit of immune therapy if he is exposed to the allergens through my breast milk?

Just curious what others have done if their kid had a food allergy?!
