Love you guys! I'll be back at some point, and better than before. In the meantime, I just released a polymer-sheet hybrid AR9 lower that should hopefully keep you satiated for a while, lol.

The PA-BC9 has just released. This is my favorite lower I've made yet. The sheet metal plates are super robust and I think they look pretty slick, too. Check it out!

4-armed anthropomorphic robot model. Rigged and textured over the course of about a year. (Gallery, viewport at the end)

Inspired by the protogen style from the furry community, but more grounded and with near-future mechanics. See 7th image for cutaway view/technical sheet.

Plate reinforced AR9 lower entering beta within the week (when my SCS plates get here)

Anyone had issues with ludicrously brittle matte PLA? I can pull this stuff apart with my fingers

And it sucks because the finish is so nice! It's from Sunlu and printed at their reccommended settings, but it basically turns back into powder the second you touch it. This is just from picking up the gun from the pistol grip.

I'm using the sheet reinforcement idea from my SPC-15 to a platform better suited for it, the bufferless AR9. Designed with a printed receiver that serves only to hold things in place, with the vast majority of stress going through the sheet metal outer plates.

I've oversized the pin holes, so very little stress is transferred to the plastic part. Of course, the plastic part still has the FCG holes and recess, so it is legally the receiver. The metal parts (side plates are identical, plus rear buffer plate) come out to only $25 on SCS (with free shipping, if you get them anodized). Should be very strong and reasonably cheap, too.

The reason I'm moving development away from the 5.56 SPC-15 is because with Glock mags and the 9mm bolt, I can use just 1 sheet per side for all pins and the rear receiver face, instead of the complex and pricey plate stack that the SPC used. Much simpler and cheaper. Unfortunately, this also means that because it's wider, the fire selector has to be custom, and the trigger pins need to be longer. Decent compromise, though.

Idea for a propellant-assisted coilgun concept

My logic here is that a lot of energy is wasted by the coils in accelerating the projectile from 0 velocity. A hybrid propellant-electromagnetic system would solve this. I think a subsonic .22 blank like a Ramset would be quite good at giving it enough initial velocity that the coils could then use all their energy to further accelerate the projectile to a reasonable speed, rather than wasting it through high resistance when the projectile isn't moving. I also imagine a ported barrel and gas liner would be needed to prevent hot propellant gases from entering the plastic coilgun barrel. I'm not serious about building this, but I think it's an interesting idea that preserves the quiet firing of a heavy projectile that a coilgun provides, but potentially with higher muzzle velocities than a purely electromagnetic design would be able to achieve.

Coilguns and Gauss rifles

Are there any gauss rifle projects or development out there for capacitor gauss rifles like Arcflash's EMG-02? I haven't found anything on the interwebs. I would absolutely love to get my hands on something like this, especially to get closer to my dream of a magnetically-boosted subsonic firearm. Problem is, I have very little experience with electrical engineering and making one completely on my own would clearly be almost impossible. The EMG and all of Arcflash's other rifles are sold out and prohibitably expensive, so I'm wondering if there's any DIY development progress for similar gauss rifles out there? (i know it's not a firearm and thus not governed by the 2A, but it seems relevant)

reposting these works because my old reddit account got banned for firearms distribution (won't make that mistake again, lol.)
