Arc raiders desperately needs an arcade "break" mode

My group started with 6-7 players at launch, even made some new friends inside the game. Everyone has quit, and i think the player count is down 84% since release? I have 850 hours topside but i've realised that the only reason i still log in is that arc is still part of my routine.

Apart from the obvious issues I don't think the extraction gameplay is the problem. It's the fact that there isn't another way to enjoy the game when you don't feel like sweating every raid.

I'd love to see something implemented like Apex's "Mixtape" which is just one constsantly rotating (changes every 15min) playlist of game modes such as TDM, gun run and control.

It would somewhat bridge the gap between people just feel like killing for the sake of it and people that have had no practice shooting other raiders. I'd definately suggest killcams though, mainly so we can report all the cheaters.

Maybe even a PvE zombies style survival mode except with arc.

Choose from some preset loadouts so people can jump in for 10-15 minutes, warm up, mess around with friends, or just have a break from risking their gear.

The best part is they wouldn't even need to make brand-new maps. There are already so many areas that would work like Stella's lobby, Dam's research + admin or testing annex or Blue Gate's underground.

Plenty of other POIs could easily be turned into small arena maps.

I love this game and I'd hate to see it go the way it's heading. Right now, if you're burnt out on the extraction loop, your only option is to log off. That's exactly what happened to every one of my mates, and once they stopped logging in, none of them came back

Give people a reason to stay in Arc Raiders, even on the days they don't feel like grinding. I honestly think a mode like this would do wonders for the game's longevity.

Thoughts?

Ps. Im doing a 4th expedition purely not to lose my scrappy and repair bonus now which is fucking ridiculous.

Hot take: the Rascal is a gem of a new weapon

After hearing nothing but bad things about the new gun, i decided to try it out for myself.

First lets look at the limitations:

  1. Break action. Meaning it has one round and reloads like a ferro. You could pretty much say rascal to hullcracker is what a ferro is to an anvil.

  2. Expensive to craft. Though material costs are aligned with other blue weapons and as someone who rarely crafts any guns, they all seem expensive to craft.

  3. Costs the same as hullcracker to repair. Kinda valid but doesnt exactly justify people asking it to be a green gun

  4. There is a noticably more severe bullet drop compared to HC

Now all the things i personally like about it.

  1. Damage output feels the same as the HC. 1-2 rounds for small arc, 13 for the bastion.

  2. Way more agile than hullcracker

  3. Second lightest gun (4kg) behind the hairpin. For reference thats the same as a burlette with no attachments, half as much as a HC and weighs 3x less than a renegade or bettina

  4. Cheaters using ESP are less likely to target someone holding a rascal compared to a hullcracker.

  5. Seems viable to run as a secondary even in full pvp lobbies. For example on riven tides PVP only, i often run just a tempest 4 which sucks against the swarms of flying arc and having rascal as a secondary seems like a good idea right now (I'm definately not running a hullcracker if theres less than a 50% chance of extracting)

  6. Its a cute gun!

8/10 gun embark, good job 😁

Also: since raiders use arc alloy/circuitry for their shields i think it would add a bit of pvp novelty (without giving us noob tubes) if launcher ammo explodes on direct impact with other raiders.

Oh and if it can destroy barricades too.

Thoughts anyone?
