Completely lost in Qigong

I really need some guidance because I am completely lost and overwhelmed. I’ve been dealing with a chronic health condition that keeps me stuck at home most of the time, barely able to go out, and it has prevented me from living a normal life for years.

I want to use Qigong to genuinely improve my health, release deep physical tension, and clear my energy centers/blockages. However, every time I look into it, I find a massive amount of different styles, lineages, and complex systems (like Yuan Gong, Shaolin Wahnam, medical Qigong, etc.), and I have no idea where to start or what actually works for deep, long-term healing.

which style, approach, or foundational method would you actually recommend to start with? What should I focus on first?

I've seen Ren Xue's page with Yuan Qigong, but I don't know if there are any students here who can share their experiences. Also, I don't know if I need to reach the final level to achieve healing...

Any advice or honest recommendations would mean the world to me. Thank you so much.

(Also, if you happen to know of any good, reliable courses, teachers, or resources available in Spanish, that would be an amazing help for me).

STRETCHING: YES OR NO? Is muscle activation better? I’m completely stuck and don't know what to do...

I am completely stuck and honestly don't know which way to go anymore. I’ve been dealing with a hypertonic pelvic floor (along with all the deep tension, urinary symptoms, retention and urgency) for a while now.

I’ve been doing a ton of research trying to figure out how to overcome this, but the more I read, the more confused I get. There seem to be two completely opposing sides.. The Stretching Camp, people who swear that because the pelvic floor is hypertonic (too tight/contracted), the absolute key is to stretch, stretch, and stretch to get it to release. and the Muscle Activation Camp, Professionals who argue that the pelvic floor is tight out of defense and instability because other muscle groups aren't firing properly and doing their job.

In my case, I know for a fact that my core is not activating. The issue is that whenever I try to do activation exercises to wake it up, my symptoms flare up immediately and the whole area tightens up even more. But then, if I try heavy passive stretching, I'm worried of creating more instability in my pelvis. What do you even do first? Do you stretch and then activate? Or is it better to avoid stretching altogether? I really don't know what to do...

The only thing I’m doing right now is using a pelvic wand. The issue is that sometimes it gives me relief and I feel it relaxing the muscles, but other times it feels like it does absolutely nothing, even when I use it on the exact same spots that worked before... I’m also using a vibrating wand to help relax the area, and it’s the same story: sometimes it works a little bit, and other times it’s like it does nothing at all...

To show you what I mean about the movement that advises against aggressive stretching, I recently came across this YouTube video that really got me thinking: https://youtu.be/FPGhBXH5JF0?si=4SRoxb6VXc9OQ4_w

Anyone using TENS for Hypertonic Pelvic Floor? urinary symptoms

I’m currently dealing with a severe hypertonic pelvic floor (my main symptoms are urinary retention, urinary urgency, anus pain...I feel like my pelvic floor is "up" 24/7

I recently bought a TENS/EMS device that also has a massage mode, and I want to incorporate it into my routine to help calm down the nervous system and release the muscles, but I'm a bit scared of making things worse.

If you have used or are currently using a TENS unit for hypertonia, could you share your experience? What mode do you use? Where do you place the pads? Did it actually help?

I built a routine focused on activating the core and glutes (including hamstrings and breathing work) to help relax the pelvic floor.

I’ve been doing core exercises, glute/hamstring activation, and breathing work. While doing them, I notice that the area around the anus feels relaxed and doesn’t tense up, which seems like a good sign. I’m not doing any Kegels or intentional tightening in fact, I’m focusing on relaxation.

However, I still feel tension in the muscles around the urethra and upper part of the pelvic floor. That area feels tight and is affecting my ability to urinate normally.

After the exercises, I feel worse urinary tension and more difficulty urinating

Right now, the only thing that helps temporarily is manual release using a pelvic wand, but after a few days the tension back.

I feel like if I don’t activate other muscles, my pelvic floor won’t relax long-term… but at the same time, things seem worse after exercising.

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what could be going on?
