We have 3 Savi's lightsabers that we're planning to display in our home. I'm trying to figure out the best way to display them in a way that I can also activate them remotely (without physically switching them on one at a time). Ideally I would like to use smart home commands or home automation.

One idea I had was an AC power supply, attached to a smart outlet. That leaves an ugly cable hanging down the wall but it's better than nothing. However, as I understand it, the Savi lightsabers have a constant power draw and are never truly "off." That means the AC power supply is out of the question because even if the lightsaber's switch is in the on position, turning the outlet on won't work because it will need to be power cycled in the hilt. Is that correct?

Another option I've come across is a "show blade" but I'm not familiar with that. Do they make those for the Savi hilts? Can I remotely activate it through an IR remote, like the ones that come with LED strips? If that's the case, I assume I would need to wire up a power supply as well? This wouldn't allow smart home controls but it would at least be remote controlled.

So do I have to choose between automation (if it's even possible) and remote control? Or is it just not possible at all?

Seems like the COR forums are mostly dead and the Facebook is sporadic. So what's the best way to get information for Old Man Rex requirements? As a middle aged, bald and bearded man with a dad bod, I feel like I'm in my prime for Old Man Rex. But I'm not finsingucj information on requirements for that particular costume. Plenty of info on animated Rex, but nothing on the old man variant.

Is there a better place for information or contact than the forums or Facebook?

I've seen the rechargeable power supplies for the Savi sabers, but does anyone know of a way to power the saber that would respond to voice controls? Maybe an AC power supply connected to a smart plug?

Edit - thanks for the advice y'all! Yeah, I know I'm going to take my lumps. It's part of the territory. I'll check out some of the channel suggestions. Most of the ones I've seen were general strategy and light on tank strat. Nothing like learning by jumping in the deep end huh?

TL;DR - how do I "learn" a raid or dungeon? I can read a strategy, but that's not the same as running it.

Background

I main as a Blood DK most of the time and joined a "relaxed" Heroic Sporefall run. We did pretty well but the other tank died with 5% health remaining on Rotmire. At that point it was just me and 2 or 3 DPS. We got him down to 2 or 3% and wiped.

The other tank blamed me for the failure for not taunting at the proper times. I was actually taunting to keep threat because as a blood DK I was able to take more punishment than what I thought he could.

Without much warning I was voted out of the group. He whispered to me to learn the raid before running it.

So this leads me to my question. How can I "learn" mechanics if I'm removed from a "relaxed" run without constructive direction? Someone telling me to get better or read the journal doesn't really help me learn anything. I was keeping threat, and I made sure to do so when the other tank got low on health. But apparently he and the majority of the others thought I was the problem 🤷

This is the main reason I don't ever do Mythic dungeons, especially push keys. As a tank it's on me to know the routes and mechanics. But just... How?

I picked up a set of the Bluetooth meat probe thermometers for grilling and smoking meats. Seems like a really good alternative to the wired ones I was using before since the base doesn't have to be right there on the smoker.

But my biggest gripe is that I can't set a custom temp alarm. It only supports timed tasks, but not temp tasks? For example, when smoking a pork butt, I need a temp alarm for 165 degrees to pill the pork off and wrap it, then put it back on to finish cooking up to 203.

I can set a timed alarm for a task determined in minutes, but not a temp alarm for a task determined by temp?

The only solution is to set the temp alarm for 165 and then reset it to 203 when I put it back on the smoker. Is that the only solution?

Secondary question - can I set "temp too low" or "temp to high" alarms? With my other (wired) probes I could do this and it was piece of mind for overnight cooks in case of a flame out (ambient temp gets too low) or a fire in smoker (ambient temp gets too high). But I'm not seeing any sort of temp range alarm with the Govee. 🤷

I came into an AI Sync Box 2 for a really good price. But it's for the 55"-65" TV. Is it possible to extend those or replace them with lights for 75"? I'm unsure of the connection type and if they can just be replaced with longer lights? I assume the sync box itself is the same with the lights being the only difference.

Are there any tutorials about stripping down a Savi hilt for repainting and weathering? I've seen several before and after posts but I've yet to find a good tutorial about the process.

For example, is it best to strip it down to the metal and start with a blank slate (including metal damage) or can you just paint and weather over what's already there?

I like to favorite recommended WoW add-ons so that I can install them and test them out later on. But on mobile I'm not seeing any search box 🤷.

Am I just not seeing it or does it not exist?
