Book number sixteen of a sixteen book dark fantasy series. I read the well printed and well bound trade paperback published by Ace in 2026. I will purchase and read future books in the series.

On a parallel Earth, Jane Yellowrock is a full blooded Cherokee who walked the Trail of Tears when she was five years old sometime during the 1830s. Somewhere along the trail, her parents were murdered and she became lost. Being a shapeshifter who could control her DNA, she shifted to a bobcat form and tried to attack a mountain lion for its food. She ended up merging bodies with the mountain lion and spent around a 100 years in merged form. She emerged from the wilderness as a human child in the early 1900s and then was raised as a human child in an Christian orphanage. She was apparently aged out and released from the orphanage where she became a vampire hunter for around a hundred years. But now she is the Dark Queen of the vampires in the USA.

It has been several years since WW III, the Witch War. A group of Russian witches opened an interdimensional doorway to a very bad place and billions of demons flooded the Earth. The good witches and the Armies of the world won the war but at a horrendous cost. The PTSD amongst the Witch War's survivors, both supernatural and normals, is overwhelming.

Angelina Everhart-Trueblood and her brother Evan run Everhart Investigations, a witch PI firm in Chattanooga that solves paranormal crimes committed by supernatural beings. They won their freedom from the Queen but the Queen forced a vampire warrior on them, Walter the spy. But, somebody has stolen magical repositories from the Witch War full of demons. And they are planning on releasing the demons again.

The series is very well written. I really enjoy the series a lot due to the Christian symbology and that my wife is half Cherokee.

Book number one of a three book science fiction space opera series. This is continuation of a series of two books set in the 2100s and a series of six books set in the 3000s, ending two years prior to this series. I read the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback published by Raconteur Press in 2025 that I bought in 2026. I have ordered the following two books in the series.

I love Space Opera. And I love pulp science fiction. This series is both and a great example of the merging of the two. In fact, this series reminds me very much of the Robert Heinlein juvenile books, the Piers Anthony "Bio of a Space Tyrant" series, the "Mutineer's Moon" series by David Weber, and the Perry Rhodan series. The dialog is very frequent and the action moves along quickly.

In the far distant future, The Solarian Imperium consists of 38 star systems including Earth and the Sol system which were made uninhabitable in the War of Succession. Emperor Chase Morgan is the latest in a long line of Morgans ruling the Imperium. His family keeps power because they are genetically modified with machine interfaces in their DNA. So are all of the Nobles: the Earls, the Dukes, the Counts, and the Barons. Any machine of any importance, and especially the space ships and the military weapons, requires a human with machine interface to tell the AI what to do. And the Imperial family machine interface in their DNA is the best of all the interfaces and has special rights with all of the machines in the Imperium. And nobody knows or understands how tight the Imperial human machine interfaces are with every AI in the Imperium.

Eric Wolfram and his sister Candi (Candace) are living with Dar (Dartanion) in his scrap yard on a frontier planet outside the Solarium Imperium. Dar rescued them at ages 7 and 10 from a drunkard who was not taking care of them. They were refugees from a space ship that was attacked by pirates where their father, mother, and older brother were killed. They took a lifeboat to the nearest planet. Both Eric and his sister have a DNA machine interface of at least the Ducal level. And Eric is growing up and running with a bad crowd.

Mike Carey is the author of the acclaimed "The Girl With All The Gifts" book and the DC Comics "Lucifer" series. "The Girl With All The Gifts" was made into a successful movie based on his screenplay. This is a just as dark series by him of Felix Castor, a freelance exorcist in London, England. The setting of the book is after the dead started rising in London a couple of decades ago as ghosts. And demons from Hell are appearing now and everyone hates and fears them with a passion.

Felix Castor can see dead people. And they can see him. Mostly they just haunt places but some of the ghosts are downright nasty. Or, vindictive. People call Felix a ghostbuster but when they have a ghost in their home or their business, they will call him for help. And there have been lots of dead people in London.

If you are a big fan of Jim Butcher's Dresden Files books then you will probably like this series. I know that I did.

A third book of three novellas added to the ten book Iron Druid fantasy series. There are several other novellas for the series also. I read the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback published by Horned Lark Press in 2024 that I bought in 2026. I own several of the other novellas and plan to read them soon.

Atticus O'Sullivan is a 2,000+ year old Druid living peacefully in Arizona, USA in modern times. His Irish Wolfhound Oberon is also many decades old due to Atticus's special teas. Atticus also has another dog, Starbuck, who is learning how to speak telepathically to Atticus and Oberon.

Atticus and the two dogs head to Tasmania via his special pathways for Atticus to heal several Tasmania Devils from a cancer that is spreading amongst them. And of course the dogs find a dead body in the park under a bee's nest.

The other two novellas in the book are weird and weirder but good reading. I would classify them as horror (dark fantasy). All bee related.

Book number two of a four book science fiction tactical romance series. I read the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback self published by the author in 2021 that I bought on Amazon in 2026. I have purchased the following two books in the series.

On a far off colony world far in the distant future, the Federation and the Imperium are fighting clandestine battles in and around many of their client states. The usual problem is resources and land snatching. The terraforming of the planet 600 years before was never completed and people are needing more and more resources such as hydrocarbons and food.

"Lizzes Olsen is a newly minted petrogeologist researching the untapped potential of places on her planet even terraforming overlooked. Unfortunately, the site she's found is deep in enemy-occupied territory. The same enemy is funding the radical eco-terrorism that turned her university toxic, and training terrorists to kill the Empire's geophysicists and geologists. Between bombings at home and being hunted abroad, Lizzes' career, and her life, are in danger."

The story is very fast paced and the characters are extremely likable. The history of the colony world and the various political entities is not explained very well but that was not necessary for the story to be good.

Book number six of a six book science fiction fantasy paranormal series.  I read the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback self published by the author in 2019 that I bought new from Amazon in 2026.  I suspect that this will be the final book in the series.

Chief Warrant Officer T was serving in Afghanistan as a squad leader for foot patrols.  However, T was never trained as an Army officer, he is the product of a failed CIA Black Project to develop telepaths for insertion around the planet.  The strong telepaths can read anyone's mind who is close to them.  T is a weak telepath, he can only converse with other telepaths, but distance does not matter.  And T is a strong telekinetic and a weak precognitive.  T and a telepathic Army nurse officer, Shezzie, left their duty post in Afghanistan and returned to the USA.  And the former CIA black project group head was killing all of the telepaths to hide the failed project.

T and the other talents are now meeting more and more people with various talents.  It turns out that just being around people with talents is causing people with latent talents to start manifesting their talents to their surprise.

This book is more about the other people who are now talents due to their close proximity to the other talents who were initialized by T and Ray.  So the group of talents is slowly increasing.  And the government interest is slowly increasing also.  And not all of the talents were initialized by T and Ray.

The book is a nice finish to the series.  And while the series did not blow me away, it was a very nice comfortable read.

Just before that was the last time he saw his estranged father who screamed at his mother to keep hiding Chase or else the Emperor would kill them all. Chase ended up on the street at the age of 12, running with the street gangs, being arrested by the police time and time again.

When Chase became an adult, he murdered another street rat and was caught by the police. He purposely got caught to go to the Imperial Prison for a few years to get more street cred and rise to the top of the street gang. But to his shock, when he went to his trial, his father was the judge. His father sentenced him to ten years in the Imperial Navy rather than the four years in Imperial Prison that he expected, and then escorted him to the Naval Basic Training school.

But their cryosleep lasted for over ten years when it was supposed to be for six months at the most, treachery of the most high. And upon the Wolfhound's accidental awakening, the Emperor and his family were dead for ten years and the Parliament and the Speaker have taken over the Imperium.

Prince Chase has now been to the Tomb, what everyone calls the uninhabitable Sol System, and verified to be the new Emperor by the ancient AI there. So now Emperor Chase and the Wolfhounds have to finish reconquering the Imperium, one star system at a time. And Chase has found less than a half dozen of his Imperial relatives alive so far and is coming to realize that the Parliament and the Speaker have managed to kill off most of the nobility with their embedded human machine interfaces that all of the machine AIs rely upon and are now timing out due to lack of authorized human contact. So the new Emperor and his Wolfhounds and Foxhounds are headed to Cor Imperii, the capital planet of the Empire to cut off the head of the DPRS and kill the leaders of the coup.

Book number three of a six book science fiction space opera series. And there is a prequel series of two books and a sequel series of a few books. I read the well printed and well bound POD (print on demand) trade paperback self published by the author in 2024 that I bought in 2026. I own the other three books in the series and will read them soon.

I love Space Opera. And I love pulp science fiction. This series is both and a great example of the merging of the two. In fact, this series reminds me very much of the Robert Heinlein juvenile books, the Piers Anthony "Bio of a Space Tyrant" series, the "Mutineer's Moon" series by David Weber, and the Perry Rhodan series. The dialog is very frequent and the action moves along quickly.

Chase Collis is a street rat. He and his mother lived in government housing in Imperial City until she died of a drug overdose when he was 12 years old. Just before that was the last time he saw his estranged father who screamed at his mother to keep hiding Chase or else the Emperor would kill them all. Chase ended up on the street at the age of 12, running with the street gangs, being arrested by the police time and time again.

When Chase became an adult, he murdered another street rat and was caught by the police. He purposely got caught to go to the Imperial Prison for a few years to get more street cred and rise to the top of the street gang. But to his shock, when he went to his trial, his father was the judge. His father sentenced him to ten years in the Imperial Navy rather than the four years in Imperial Prison that he expected, and then escorted him to the Naval Basic Training school.

In the far distant future, The Solarian Imperium consists of 38 star systems including Earth and the Solar system which were made uninhabitable in the War of Succession. Emperor Charles Morgan, Chase's grandfather, was the latest in a long line of Morgans ruling the Imperium. His family keeps power because they are genetically modified with machine interfaces in their DNA. So are all of the Nobles: the Dukes, the Earls, the Counts, and the Barons. Any machine of any importance, and especially the space ships and the military weapons, requires a human with machine interface to tell the AI what to do. And the Imperial family machine interface in their DNA is the best of all the interfaces and has special rights with all of the machines in the Imperium. And nobody knows or understands how tight the Imperial human machine interfaces are with every AI in the Imperium.

Chase Collis ends up in the Emperor's own Wolfhounds after his Navy machinists mate training to be a glorified broom pusher. The Wolfhounds are special military fleet embedded in a large asteroid capable of FTL flights to anywhere in the Empire. The Wolfhounds were standing down in cryosleep until needed by Emperor to protect him or to take care of a special task. But their cryosleep has lasted for over ten years when it was supposed to be for six months at the most. And upon the Wolfhound's accidental awakening, the Emperor and his family have been dead for ten years and the Parliament and the Speaker have taken over the Imperium. So now Prince Chase and the Wolfhounds have to reconquer the Imperium, one star system at a time.
