How it looks when AIPAC tries to buy a US Senate seat

AIPAC and other special interest PACs are pouring money into the Michigan US Senate Democratic Primary. This is just the primary, folks! AIPAC alone is projected to spend over 30 million on Stevens by August 4th.

It hasn't worked so far. Dr. El-Sayed is still the clear favorite, but it has narrowed the gap. Hopefully this turns into the most expensive primary loss in history, and their money is wasted.

McMorrow is polling in the single digits despite her spending. At this point she is just a spoiler to Dr. El-Sayed. Stevens is wholly reliant on old people and zionists. Everyone else is mostly voting for Dr. El-Sayed, but there are still a lot of undecided voters.

Dr. El-Sayed is a M4A progressive, takes zero corporate PAC money, running a Bernie Sanders style campaign, endorsed by Bernie, AOC, the UAW, and the largest Nurse's labor union in the state. Stevens is the establishment's attempt to prevent him winning the seat, she is supported by Schumer.

We will be giving these buttons away on July 4th

My wife is a talented artist and has hand drawn these buttons. These are old school metal buttons that pin onto your shirt. She has a button press which puts all of the parts together. The Camp Snoopy one with Snoopy in his green forest ranger hat is my favorite, what's yours?

We plan to give them away on July 4th in the park, maybe we will hide some here and there... She is in a beige motorized wheelchair, keep an eye out for us! I'm going to guess she will have 50 or so, she is still chipping away at making more as she has time.

Hope to see you there!

David is getting swole

I usually listen to the podcast, downloading it on my phone, so I don't often see David on Youtube. David has 100% put on 10 or more pounds of muscle since I last saw him on Youtube several months ago.

I see you, David!

Trope alert!

Love the player, for the record.

Still, first time I've heard the trope phrased in relation to stem cells. This is like the newest, upgraded version of the trope.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, leading Michigan Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate endorsed by United Auto Worker's, Michigan's largest labor union.

“I am deeply honored and proud to have earned the support of the UAW,” El Sayed said in a statement. “Michigan union autoworkers built the American middle class and proved that when people stand together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish."

El Sayed said his campaign is built alongside workers and union members.

"Together, we’re going to take on corporate greed, rebuild an economy that works for working people, strengthen collective bargaining, and ensure that the future of Michigan manufacturing is built right here by union workers. Solidarity forever,” he said.

El Sayed's campaign, in response to the endorsement, notes that over the past year, he has rallied with laid-off UAW workers at Cleveland Cliffs, marched with UAW Local 600 members and traveled the state listening directly to union members.

Best way to drive East to West through Toledo without stoplights

No offense intended. I have been in town in Toledo many times and it's a beautiful city. Still, I cannot for the life of me find a reliable way to just pass through the city without dealing with a bunch of stoplights in town.

For reference, I am coming in from the west, usually on Highway 20, and headed to Cedar Point. This past Saturday I was planning to take 475 down and around to Highway 23, then zip down to Fremont and back up to Sandusky. 475 was closed for construction. Appreciate any tips.

Ken Paxton? Really?

Am I just officially over the rainbow to think that Talarico is going to absolutely mop the floor with Paxton? Like 10 points, it's over by 11pm destruction.

Dr. Abdul El-Sayed takes a commanding lead in the Michigan Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate

Turns out that specifically appealing to progressive and young voters with progressive economic policy positions, bravely calling to abolish ICE since 2018, calling a genocide a genocide, pledging to fight to get all PAC money out of politics, and specifically challenging the failures of the Democratic establishment is a winning strategy in the disenfranchised rust belt.

Am I the last person in this sub to notice?

The rocks by the waterfall have a Snoopy head snuck in there.

Who has some cute little easter eggs to clue me in on?

Flexibility mindset is a must at CP

I saw a lot of people in the park and online losing their minds about opening day being busy and chaotic. Not just on opening day, but on every visit, I think it's important to be flexible and open minded. I think a lot of people set themselves up for failure by walking into the park with a mindset of "I absolutely have to do X, Y, and Z or I'm going to be disappointed."

There is a tremendous amount of fun to be had in the park, but I think it's important to be mindful of wait times, anticipating groupthink (i.e. don't try to get on Raptor first thing after main gate opens), and be willing to try something you might not otherwise have been interested if it wasn't available. Even something like petting a camel or watching a glass blowing demonstration or some live music can be entertaining if you come in with the right mindset.

I understand the frustration of an adrenaline junkie who wants to ride all of the most exciting rides in succession as many times as possible, but I just don't think CP is the park for meeting that goal unless you are willing to spend a pretty penny.

Yes, Saturday was a bit of a shit show for obvious reasons which have already been discussed here. Sunday, however, turned out to be an absolute dream of a day. Without early entry or fast pass, my son got TT2 done in 45 minutes, we got on Sirens with even less of a wait, Iron Dragon was a virtual walkon for most of the morning, food lines were moving as fast as humanly possible, and everyone in the park was having a good time.

I do have an interesting story from Saturday to tell. I walked up to Rougarou to measure my daughter, as it is a 54 inch ride and she didn't make the cut last year. As I was talking with one ride op in the exit area and she was trying to get my daughter measured (they had lost the measuring stick) another ride op who I hadn't seen before and was apparently coming down from the ride via the exit path walked up right behind me and with what I interpreted as a snotty and loud tone said "Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me, get out of the way!" He had on a red shirt and EMS was nearby doing EMS stuff, so I assumed he was EMS and moved aside. I then realized he was just some teenage ride op who had yelled at me.

I am a supervisor in a correctional facility in real life, and I subconsciously switched into that voice and told him as he was walking past me "You shouldn't be yelling at people if you work here." probably louder than I should have. He apologized twice and kept on walking. In hindsight, I get that he probably had just had a hard first day, but also I'm a grown man and if you yell at me - let alone in front of my wife and kids - something real better be going on or it's about to be. The original ride op passed my daughter as 54 inches and we started toward the que.

A supervisor walked up and cut me off, and asked what had just happened. At first, I thought he was trying to cut into me for barking at the op, but he actually had witnessed the whole thing, wanted to apologize, and offered to walk us up the exit for an instant ride. The wait was only 15 minutes, and I was honestly dumbfounded. Initially, I didn't want to do it. I don't want to take a free pass, and prefer to wait my turn like everyone else. I wasn't upset, but the supervisor repeated that he would really like to give us something to make up for the mishap, so I figured we might as well just roll with it and take the gimme. Props to that supervisor for going the extra mile. Hope I didn't hurt the kids feelings or get him in trouble, but you can't go yelling at the guests, either.

Anyway, all in all, a really fun opening weekend. Looking forward to the rest of the summer.

Data centers are universally loathed in Michigan. We have a beautiful state filled with nature and fresh water. Frankly, this woman has to be out of her mind to think voters here will feel anything but suspicion and resentment at this move, a rich white woman from the city telling us what's best for us. She recently fell out of a tie for the polling lead and this seems like an act of desperation. It will fail, probably horribly.
