I appreciate there’s a lot more going wrong in the world with wars and genocide etc..but this packet of m&m peanuts isn’t right and I’m worried that’s intentional.

Maybe I’ve watched too many Instagram videos about artificial chocolate or maybe I’ve had enough to the shrinkflation of my favourite snacks but this tasted wrong. I’ve had m&m peanuts since I was about 10 and first the crispy outer shell ‘crunched’ different but most importantly the chocolate..not rich, not melty not ‘chocolatey’. Sweet yes, but the concerning thing is it has a plasticky, wax like mouth feel..I don’t like it.

Maybe it’s a bad batch and maybe this is a matter to take up with m&m and not publicly here but I was curious if anyone else has experienced this? And it’s not just me..

Anyone else think something’s not right?

Nothing more to say. Doritos crunch and texture, bbq tang. Decent, addictive. Yum. This batch was moderately well seasoned.

Pringles Burger King Chicken Royale, 165g

I know, I know these were out ages ago and everyone and their nan has probably had this. But after I posted about the BACON DOUBLE CHEESE XL folks here suggested the chicken here I am. So I’ll keep it short. It’s Pringles, so you know the crunch, you know the mouth feel because it’s a lab made reconstituted potato bits..the flavour is the interesting thing. Why can I taste the chicken burger, even down to the lettuce?? Food science has come a long way. That said because Mars/ Kelloggs are so tight with their seasoning it’s still as bland as Pringles go..

*I note the weight because looking back I’ll be interested to see how shrinkflation will look in a few years time. I bet Pringles were probably bigger in shape and weight back in the day. #

#back in day is around the 90s, 2000s..when things were sort of better.

Nik Naks Twisters Tangy and Cheesy, 130g ‘share bag’

I don’t know what happened..it started as one, then two, before you know it you’re scoffing three at a time, half the packet’s gone and you’re in some sort of passionate heat of the moment shit where you just want more and more..each taste more cheesy and delicious than the last..and then, just like that, it’s over. You look inside the bag, checking if there’s any left and sadly no.

If you get this make sure you actually share the bag with someone or show a bit of self restraint to not hoover the whole bag in one session.

They’re like Walkers bugles but a little bigger with a flavour and texture that gets your tastebuds hooked and makes you want to leave your wife and spend the rest of your snacking life with them forever.

Pringles Burger King BACON DOUBLE CHEESE XL, 165g

This has been out a little while so a bit late to it but what dark arts have been summoned for this flavour to have come into creation? I was getting ready to hate it before opening, but it’s pretty spot on, a little ‘burger sauce-y’ but there’s a smoked beef patty and bun in those flavour notes..As always, a little under seasoned for me, they’re all doing it now where the ratio is such that you have to eat more to get more flavour sensation 😠

Sounds like a weird flavour but actually it's scarily accurate, you can taste that crispy edge of a well fried egg.. Of course it had to be paired with the legendary Bacon Fries 😋

First impressions, no different to regular Quavers but then the flavour settles on the tongue and yeah it’s the crunch and texture you know with a different flavour profile..🧀

I don’t think Golden Wonder gets the love they should in the UK. For me they were definitely the crisp and flavour makers of the 80s and visible in every newsagents before Walkers dominated the market.

That they are still going is hopefully a testament that are still appreciated and still going strong. Also being cheaper than Walkers appeals. But cheaper definitely doesn’t mean less delicious. Crunch, good. Potato quality, good. Thickness, good. Value for money, good. The spring onion flavour is there but like previous comments it’s not jumping out like the 80s, for various reasons.

Pairs well with an egg mayonnaise sandwich and coke.

Sprite 🍋 🍋‍🟩 and Fanta dark cherry 🍒..drink of the summer?

I was experimenting the other day..take the exhibit A, packet of scampi fries..add a pinch of exhibit b, salt and vinegar seasoning (adjust to taste) and boom time travel back to the 80s..The flavour hit me like the food critic in Ratatouille. First scampi bite and I was young again!! The salt and vinegar just hits the right notes. If you try this let me know what you think..I’m opening another bag 🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔😋

Thanks to the person who mentioned these were in B&M ..kinda eager to try them, also wondering whether to wait till those teams play and then munch..

They almost look the same but the ridges weren’t as deep, the texture and crisp was more akin to a poppadum and the seasoning..average to weak. Ridges weren’t as deep which is a shame.

Thought one of these bags was a bit heavier than the others..

Opening a multipack of Wheat Crunchies and there is like 10 of them in there. Maybe I’m getting old but was it was this way with multipacks in general? Did we get full size in the 80s and 90s?

I always thought multipacks back then was just that, several packs of the same ‘normal’ weight bags in a convenient packaging..

Such a waste in packaging for a handful of snacks is my other thought.

As to the Wheat Crunchies, they’ve lost their loving feeling..I can’t taste the ‘wheatiness’ or the intense bacon but that’s what happens when you water it all down I guess. Nothing tastes like your youth.

There must be a Willy Wonka, mad scientist at PepsiCo because opening the packet and giving it the sniff test already told me there was a fiesta of flavours in there…

Crunch: Standard Dorito bite and texture

Flavour: The beef is there but you get the onion/peppers/coriander is too..

Do I like it? Yeah it’s a nice change from the usual flavours and with a proper fresh salsa would probably go well. Actually with real mince and salsa could be a winner..oooh 🤔

What’s funny is the chip is the same size as the photo on the packet..I thought that was a Japanese flex where illustrations have to be exactly the same size as the contents .. 🧐

But as always either my taste buds are fading with age or the seasoning isn’t heavy/covered quite enough..

Haven’t tried it yet, hoping it’ll be half decent..
