Can someone explain why going fully digital is considered a good thing?

Not just for Sony but for the gaming industry as a whole

Edit: LMAO I got heavily downvoted. I meant "considered a good thing" from Sony's perspective, not ours. I was just asking you to play devil's advocate.

True preservation is when you autistically hunt down every single item ever released for a console or subset. This is literally just 15% of my worldwide Wii U collection: the complete LEGO Master Collection.

Every Wii U lego game, every cover, limited edition, box set, sticker variant, and barcode released for the system. Sourced from over 20 countries and comprising 197 unique and official items.

Basically, everything. Nothing in this image is a double. As complete as it gets.

Difficulty level: 10/10 - Because like any collection, the moment you decide to go for literally everything, the difficulty increases exponentially. Many of the packs on the top left shelf rarely ever appear for sale online.

Edit: for those curious, I have a video of the collection on YT. I won't shamelessly link it here but it's easy to search up.

CeX branding inconsistency

I've always found this weird:

It's CeX in spelling but pronounced "sex".

The branding is so odd that many people simply refuse to pronounce CeX as "sex" instead saying "C-E-X" or even "kex."

You hear this a lot in retro game pickup videos. Could be that they're trying to avoid YT algorithms, but to me saying "I bought it from Sex" feels awkward.

Clearly the branding isn't as natural as this company thinks it is.

Star Fox has me nervous about Switch 2’s Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake

I'm starting to get nervous as well and I think the remake won't score beyond an overall 9/10 (at best - metacritic)

EDIT: I'll take the downvote but I just want OoT remake to be perfect otherwise it's best left as it is.

Throwback to 2023 when I completed, to the best of my knowledge, the world’s largest LEGO Wii U collection. Imported from 20+ countries, it features every worldwide barcode, cover and variation in existence. Since then I’ve added four more, bringing the total to 197 unique official retail editions

Seriously I can't be the only one who notices that so many Japanese eBay listings are priced miles above what the same games actually sell for in Japan? Like sometimes 10x the price. I'm starting to think their business model is basically: "Some stupid Western collector will buy it eventually."

What surprises me is that most of these sellers aren't even willing to come down 10% on their asking prices. That's a shame because a lot of what they're selling is genuinely worth owning, but just not at the prices they're asking.

This isn't really meant to be a rant.

It's more an observation that Western collectors have helped create a market where Japanese sellers can ask far above local market value and still expect interest. From their perspective, it makes sense to take advantage of that demand, but from our perspective it often feels like we're paying a hefty premium and getting screwed over.

Apparently another collector thought this was an acceptable way to ship three rare packs

Happened about three years ago.

They might not look it, but these LEGO packs are rare on the WiiU.

Parcel was all the way from Australia, and sender was another collector.

I get why it looks ridiculous at first glance, but these aren't five random copies. They are essentially the Nintendo World Championships of the WiiU. I tracked down known surviving copies of the WiiU Black Chest, and I've finally got them displayed the way I wanted.

2m banner at the back, and the items are from the editions themselves.

Edit: to be clear, these are 5/13

Seriously effing scammers - it doesn't need to be said but if something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

I fixed the sharpness problem on my Sun X7149a monitor - one of the easiest fixes!

Alright, after digging through older posts here and across Reddit/forums, it turns out this is already a pretty well-known issue. Some of these monitors can come noticeably blurry straight from the factory, which makes them pretty unpleasant to use. Mine was basically brand new with under 500 hours on it, yet the corners were still extremely fuzzy. Glad to say it's been totally fixed now.

I couldn't find any posts for this specific model but it's more or less the same procedure as the Mitsubishi 2070SB.

1 - Case just has two screws that need removing on the bottom, on either side. Then just press down on the tiny pin holes on the top when taking cover off.

2 - The focus pot holes can be turned both ways, clockwise/counter clockwise - they are sensitive and only need 1-2mm adjustments.

3 - I read about using an insulated screwdriver but didn't have one so just covered mine with some kapton take that I had handy.

4 - ALSO - because the adjustment holes are on the side, and the monitor has to stay on so you can check the sharpness, dialing it in becomes pretty awkward when you can’t see the front of the screen. I ended up doing a bunch of uncomfortable back-twisting moves, constantly going from the side to the front like an idiot. The easiest solution is to place a floor mirror directly in front of the monitor, so you can see the screen’s reflection while making adjustments from the side. That way, you can take your time and fine-tune everything properly, like I did.

5 - Finally, use the OSD controls (FACTORY-1) to make tiny sharpness adjustments and get the display looking perfectly crisp.
