How do I get my ultra hyper 9 month old malanois puppy to settle down? We give him plenty of forced naps

So my 9 month old puppy always has the need to do something. He either bits the carpet, grabs shoes or socks to chew on. The puppy nips, if he wants attention, although the nipping is stopping a little each day. My girlfriend takes him on a twenty minute hike in the morning, I usually do a another 20 to 40 minute hike in the afternoon. I recently started to play catch with him, I use a chuck it, I will do this for 20 minutes and he gets tired out. The pup still has the need to have to do something.

Yesterday my girlfriend walked the pup for 20 minutes, then I took him to play fetch for 20. In the afternoon we took him for a 2 mile and a half walk. At night we walked him to take so he can potty . Whem we got back he had zoomies and was grabbing socks and shoes. Throughout the day he naps a good 4 to 6 hours , usually after playing fetch.

Need to muzzle 9 month old malanois that resource guards senior dog is it recommended so he doesn't bit my senior dog and what should I know?

I wanted to put a basket muzzle on my 9 month old malanois , who resource guards food andntoys. My plan is to pick up food, treats toys and only have a dedicated area for them where they will eat and play onr at a time. What are the steps to train the puppy and is this doable? The 9 month old pup is superb hyper active, I read that that is just hoe malanois are when they are puppies.

Would a basket muzzle be a good idea for a 9 month milinois puppy that resource guards with my other dog?

So my puppy has gotten in a couple of fights with my 9 year old dog. The 9 month old resource guards, so I was planning on getting the 9 month old a basket muzzle.. I was planning on always feeding the dogs seperate. Not leaving around any toys, treats or food.they would have their separate play time and toy time, not in the same room. The pup would wear a muzzle when he is around my senior dog. Am I able to create a confterable environment for both?

Are breed specialty dog trainers good for fixing agression?

So I have a 8 month old shepherd mix puppy . He resources guards with my 9 year old dog. He has already gotten in a fight with my 9 year old dog, We currently have them separated in two different houses.

I asked reddit to give me a good option for a dog trainer and two people gave me a dog trainer that specializes in the breed we have. My girlfriend explained everything that has been going on , and the trainer says that he is a puppy and it can definitely be corrected.the trainer does a mix of balanced and positive reinforcement training( I'm not sure if balances is positive reinforcement and correction training). The guy said it will take 4 to 6 sessions.

My question is is it actually doable? Or are we been sold a dream? I have read alot and people are really one sided on the type of training we should be doing. People say positive reinforcement is the way to go ( so we shouldnt use prong collars, which the trainer already talked about using. others say that it corrective training is the way to go because you meet your dogs needs.

I have seen most people that say that corrective training is the way to go are the people with the same breed as my pup. What is your experience? I am trying to do research and get the correct trainer. Also as of right now both dogs are separated in two different homes, we can't keep them like that forever.

Is there a possibility of getting him out of been reactive?

So my girlfriend found a puppy on the side of the road in a small crate where he was underfed, the dog bas in reality bad condition. We took the puppy in and took care of him.

This is how it whent. The puppy loves our senior dog, we would put his whole body on him and does not know boundaries. The puppy would still food and toys from our senior dog( we tried keep him from doing this but he would run to the senior dogs dog bowl as soon as he was done with his.

The pupoy would bark and lunge at people. I had the bright idea to take him to the dog park, people would give him treats and he started to like people, he stopped barkin at them and he stopped lunging. He did great the first couple times I took him, untill I had the stupid idea of making sure He learned his name. I would take treats to the park and when other dogs would get close, and bark at them he started to become food agressive. He stopped listening after this, it's like he got reprogrammed.

He started to get agressive with the senior dog when there was treats around or food. It started by the puppy getting real close to the senior dogs face , and barking at him. Then it started to get more intense. We ended up visiting my girlfriends family and there was food and toys all around so they got in a fight. We separated them , then the puppy had a ball in his mouth and they started fighting. I separated the two dogs and the senior dog came back to attack the puppy and the dog bite my shine.

I came back home and we currently have the dogs in two different houses. So here are a couple more things that I have thought about .

  1. They don't fight that often unless there is food around and sometimes with toys. ,the older dog grabs the toys most of the time andnthe puppy takes it away.

  2. I realise that I might be part of the problem, because mainly does it around me. The pup likes to nip at me . It usualy goes, the dog nips at me , I hide my hands, the dog nips me again I push him away, he does it again and I get annoyed and give him a small smack on the nose, he does it again , by this point I'm mad I grab his collar so I can walk him to the cage, by this point he is nipping me, he doesnt go hard , its more of a leave me alone type of thing, its light and he is trying to get away kind of annoyed. So I realized that he was not getting agressive with the other dogs or the senior dog at the park untill I started to grab him collar.I think it's a triggers for him.this does not mean he doesnt resource guard, it just means he has a trigger.

  3. He doesnt growl or throw nips at people when you take food away, he treats it more like a game and runs back and forth, and when we do take it away he doesnt jump on people.

  4. My girlfriend currently has him and has been training him, she says he is doing good. He is listening and isn't barking at people or destroying things, he usually barks at the Yorkie at the other house , but he stopped doing that.

  5. My senior dog is super calm and never gets in fights, but at the same time he is not really trained. He listens when you call his name but his way of playing is to jump on other dogs and growl at them. Most dogs chase him, but I feel like the puppy learned this habbit from my senior dog.

I have been talking to my girlfriend and I am currently in the process of finding a behavior trainer , we are keeping the dogs away untill we can either figure out how to get them to not fight or untill we rehome him. Do you guys think there might be a fix to this?

Having a hard time mentality having to rehome a reactive pup

So my gf found a dog on the side of the road in a crate that was to small, where he was underfed and was dirty. My girlfriend found the owner and the owner said the pup was 6 month old and that she just didnt want to pay the pet fee.

When we brought the dog home and we took care of him , the pup did fine with the señior dog. The pup would steal the senior dogs food and we would of course correct him. The pup did not know boundaries and he would want to be around the señior dog all the time.

Over time the pup started to become reactive when it came to food and toy. The pup would not let the older dog play with toys and would start getting agressive when it came to food. Whem we put the food and toys away he is fine.

My girlfriend and I whent to visit her parents and there is alot of food left around at that house.the pup got in a fight with my senior dog. I pulled the pup back and the senior dog whent back to bite him, between everything going on , the pup ended up bitting my leg.

Currently I came back home with my senior dog and left my pup with my gf and her family. We talked about taking him to the pound or rehoming him. I feel like I failed because , he was doing amazing at some point and we took him to this off leash dog parking no fence where he did great, he would listen. He would bark at people and other dogs , so I started taking him to this fenced dog park. He would play and became social, he stopped barking at people and dogs. I think the problem started when we started training, I took the pup to nthe dog park and I would try and get him to go to me when he heard his name. When other dogs started getting close he would get agressive, everything changed after that day.

At this point I feel really bad about failing the puppy. I really feel like he does great most of the time. He does amazing with people, he listens , but he has food and toy aggression when it comes to food and other dogs . He does not get agressive when it comes to other people. Im pretty devastated and feel like he might be put down if we take him to the dog pound. Is there any way to fix this? Or is this just going to end bad?

Oil change questions

I have a 2017 accord hybrid with 177k miles. When I do an oil change it's dark ( I am now doing oil changes every 5k miles not 7k like the dealership told me to ). So I am wondering if it's normal for oil to be dark, is there anything I can add to it to clean the engine?

Another question I have is , usually when I do an oil change I start my car and wait five minutes to check the dipstick. The dipstick usually reads the right amount of oil. My car uses 4 quarts of oil total. This time I changed my oil , I waited five minutes and my dipstick showed that the oil was on the first hole. I waited another ten minutes and it showed it was a little higher than the first hole. I checked it again in the morning and it showed it was half way between the first and second hole. So my question is, why is it taking longer to flow down to be able to read the dipstick?

7 month old puppy keeps fighting my 9year old senior dog

Hi everyone, so I am not sure what to do. My girlfriend and I have had this puppy for about a month. We found him on the side of the road, under-fed and really fragile. The owner came out and told us we can have him (which is the reason we know how old he is). Well the puppy was not trained at all, he would pee all over and run out the house , he would also not listen.

He take him out often , and he peed inside the house 1 or twice in the last two weeks. He listens to his name alot more often, sometimes he chooses to ignore us.at first Our senior dog would growls at him pretty often because the puppy harrases him .my girlfriend and I would separate them, and never tell out senior dog anything, so he can learn dog etiquette. It turned from us separating the puppy, to the puppy growling back and backing at the senior dog. Every time the senior dog would grow at him we would separate them. Well now the puppy started to get agressive with the senior dog and started to attack him.

Besides separating them , we dont know what else to do. We have a cage where we put thr puppy when he missbehaves or when we leave them alone(we dont lock up the senior dog ).

Today they got in fight three times, I was holding the pupoy and held him upside down , the senior dog got close and they started fighting out of nowhere. The second time we had a visitor over that was training the puppy, the senior dog got close and again they started to fight. The third time is when I was going to feed them, I was holding the food ( I feed them separate because the puppy steals the senior dogs food). While walking with their food, they followed me and started fighting. I have never had a problem with holding both of their foods, I dont know why today more than any other day they fought this much and ,they did not want to stop. They only stopped fighting once we both grabbed one dog and separated them. What can I do to stop this? Those this have to do with the pupoy needing to get fixed?

20 to 30 minutes after drinking half a cup of coffee and milk and no sugar my glucose read 129

I haven't been taking the best care of myself, I was doing good for over a year, but because I drive for uber I dont walk as much as I should. A couple weeks ago fasting glucose was at 97. Today I decided to measure my glucose 25 to 30 minutes after drinking half a cup of coffee with half a cup of milk and I am at 129. Which is a little high to me, I was getting those numbers after food a couple months before. Should I be worried?

What is the difference between mavick 2 zoom and newer drones?

So i found my drone in a storage unit , all I had to do to it was replace the controller battery and buy a battery for it. Every time I see someone on this app talk about their older drone they say that people should go with the newer ones because the older drones have old technology. So my question is how much better is the new technology?

For a first time drone I really like the way the mavic 2 zoom flies. I have no other experience with any other dji drone , so I know there is better. But I want to know how much better.

I think my metal feeling failed, does it look really bad? Does it look like I might need to pull my tooth out? Im freaking out, I thought the pain was from my sleep apnea machine, since I started getting it after using the machine because it was tight.
