Anyone tried “Get Real” from Chewy?

I love chewy, long time customer. I saw they recently came out with a fresh food for dogs. The ingredients lists seem good to Bluey’s, but has anyone tried it? Curious if my baby would like it. Pic of my new (to this point unnamed) baby in their quarantine tank basking 🖤

Just wrapped up reading QOTD and about to start TotBD. Discussion on potential for the show's adaptation of QOTD

I finished reading Queen of the Damned last night and am moving right into Tale of the Body Thief. For those who have read through more of the books, can you tell me why the general consensus seems to be that, beyond QOTD, the series takes a dip? Like, the reviews drop dramatically after the third book and I just want to understand why. I plan on reading through the entire chronicles because I enjoy Anne's writing, but if there is a spoiler free explanation I'd welcome some insight.

I also have some concerns based on where the show left off at the end of TVL and how they plan to cover enough ground to do QOTD justice... So, for just a general discussion I want to hear what you guys think. Will the show creators tackle the twins and the curse? They sort of have to... it's a central theme of the book. Will they do it justice, in your opinion? Will they introduce Jesse and NOT have her just be a love interest for Lestat (as much as I love the 2002 movie, that was a big flaw).

I feel that the only way they'll be able to fully capture all that they would need to cover is with two seasons like they did with IWTV.... and I just don't see that happening, unfortunately. My fear then is that they'll create some highly stylized skim over of what the book is about and miss the depth of the characters, especially with the shifting perspectives that the book explores. I think they have an opportunity to do something really cool with that, especially after sort of missing the mark with TVL. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty to love about the 3rd season, but it's also criminally flawed in some respects. Do you think that QOTD is destined to be heavily underdeveloped like TVL, or will Hannah Moscovitch serve as a better steward of the show and it's adaptation from the book? I can't wait to hear your thoughts, fellow chronicles lovers.

Seeking advice post-regurgitation

Hello!
This is Chihiro. I’ve had her since March. Her temperament is excellent, she’s super curious and alert all the time, but I have a dilemma that’s now occurred twice.
On April 23rd she regurgitated, but I chalked it up to moving her from quarantine into her enclosure. The change in environment likely stressed her out. And it didn’t help that I realized her night temps on the warm side were getting down to 76 which was just a little too cool. I followed the protocol, no handling or feeding for two weeks and she picked back up like normal after that time.
Now, she’s regurgitated again last night. 3 days after eating… her temps are right (warm end is 86-89 measured with a temp gun), humidity is on point, she’s responsive and alert… her color is bright and she’s acting totally fine. The only thing I can think of is prey size. This is only her second time eating a fuzzy. I’m seeing that prey size can cause regurg… but are they really this sensitive to it? I’ll size back down to pinkies as a precaution after the 2 week break. Just wondering if any other BRB parents experience this food sensitivity with young babies? (Picture of Chihiro for snake tax)

First BTS: in search of a Merauke

Hi guys!
So I’m about ready to get my first blue tongue skink. I’ve fully researched the different localities and believe a merauke will be the most ideal for me as a pet. I am however having the toughest time sourcing them. There seems to be no one who has them in the states, save one seller on morph market who hasn’t been responsive 😣 there are a few shops that say they have them in stock but they’re either super sketchy or have bad reps for animal neglect and the like… Does anyone know of a good breeder or source for merauke BTS?
I’m going to the AARPE at the end of August, so maybe there will be one there. But I hate to put all my eggs in one basket considering I can’t find a trace of them really online.

UPDATE: I got in touch with with Blue’s Brothers Blue Tongue Skinks and am all set to get one of his baby meraukes. Thank you all for the guidance!

For those who take their pet snakes outside for enrichment

Don’t you worry about bugs like ticks, ants, and even mites? I would love to do this for my babies for exercise and enrichment, but I’m scared of the consequences.

Am I over thinking? Or do the cons truly outweigh the pros? It seems like a major risk to me… for context, I have bioactive setups that I’d be devastated to have to completely scrap 😅

Defensive baby advice

Sorry in advance for the long winded post, but I’ve been working with this guy for about a month now and want to give some context.

This is Topokki, and Topokki is a defensive boy. I got him in early April, quarantined him as usual, and set him up in a 4x2 for now with lots of plants, wood to climb, etc.. I started handling him after I’d had him for about 10 days and it was only my second time holding him that he started getting really defensive. Now, I think that’s totally my fault because I was walking around with him as I do with all of my snakes to get them used to that movement, etc.. I think it overwhelmed him and he started striking and hissing nonstop. I put him back in his enclosure which I know I shouldn’t have done but that was only for this first encounter. It just took me by surprise, and he was going for my face.

Since this encounter, I’ve done a lot of research on defensive baby boas. I’ve been handling him daily for 5-10 minute sessions always around 5pm, holding him over a surface so he doesn’t feel suspended, and redirecting him when he locks onto my faces warmth. Speaking to him in a calm tone. I’ve been doing these sessions for about a month now, but they’re still sort of a mixed bag. Some sessions he’ll be totally fine, tongue flicking, curious, even climbing my arm and trying to explore. Other times he is hissy, striking, and stays tightly gripped on my hand for the whole session.

Does this typically get better with time? I feel like we make progress and then we have an interaction where he seems so tense like we are back to square one. What is the guideline for when to increase the time of handling? Any advice is much appreciated 🙏

Deathly are my days, alone in my chamber. Absent is joy when you’re not around. The dark has never been so dark without you, my sweetheart 🥀

What’s your favorite Lebanon Hanover song? Convinced they don’t have a bad track in their discography 🖤

Gnat help… mosquito bits aren’t cutting it

Guys, I’m losing it with these gnats. My reptile room is just infested with them. I’ve been using mosquito bits as directed for 3-4 weeks now and they seem even MORE prolific. Any advice is much appreciated. I’ve got sticky traps outside of each of my snake enclosures and do the mosquito bits solution weekly as directed but I’m at my wits end. How do you guys control them without wiping out your CUC? I’ve got tropical plants too that are suffering with limited watering 😭 picture of Marshmallow for attention

No, because you all don't understand the significance of this for a Man Man fan

In 'Why Do I Have to Feel' Lestat sings to Louis:

"I wanted to write you the prettiest song in the world, but I got distracted so I didn't'

This is a line from the song 'Prettiest Song In the World' by Man Man, Ryan Kattner's (Salamander's) long time band... as someone who has listened to Man Man for 15 years I had tears STREAMING during this moment. I think it is so incredible that the writers (and probably Daniel Hart) decided to include a nod to an ACTUAL song written by one of the band members. Absolutely brilliant.

Anyone else a fan of Man Man before TVL? If not, give them a listen. You might enjoy their chaotic, insane music. I absolutely adore it and always have.

This heat will be the death of me 🥀

I’ve realized the need to invest in cooler clothing items, but as someone who digs the Victorian goth style, that’s easier said than done.
