[Hiring] Video Editor for YouTube (long-form) + TikTok/Reels (shorts) — Coin Collecting Channel

Hi r/FindVideoEditors - We're a UK-based coin dealer looking for assistance with long- and short-form video editing for our established YouTube and TikTok accounts, plus Facebook reels.

The Role:

  • Editing long-form YouTube videos (talking-head/educational, with some product close-ups and B-roll) - aiming for two per month
  • Cutting the same or separate footage into short-form content for TikTok/Facebook Reels/YouTube Shorts - fast-paced, trend-aware, hook-driven - aiming for 4 per month to start - quality over quantity
  • Help with thumbnails and captions if possible
  • Ongoing, recurring work if it's a good fit - not a one-off gig

About You: The ideal candidate will have experience editing long- and short-form content, confidence with captions, motion graphics, and pacing for retention. You're a reliable communicator, ideally based near or able to work to our timezone (GMT). It's a bonus if you have experience with collectables or educational/explainer channels.

Pay: We're open to your rate and structure for the volume described above.

Applications: I've put together a Google Form for applications, but I can also answer further questions via DM: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdDaEy9kwu3_RsFMaYb99hPCnOxDR745aM3s_J-Dduxzm4YrA/viewform?usp=publish-editor

Thank you for your interest!

The London Mint Office Enters Administration

Administrators appointed on 31 July.

I didn’t have the best opinion about their sales practices but I am really sorry for the team in Wales left without jobs.

Did you ever shop with The London Mint Office?

One For UK Stackers: Can goldpricecomparison.co.uk And Other Gold Comparison Sites Really Be Trusted?

Bit of a UK-specific post, but I would be keen to see if there are similar sites aimed at people selling gold in the US.

Basically, this article explains that a popular gold price comparison site - goldpricecomparison, always ranks a company called GoldSell as the top payer. From the outside, goldpricecomparison appears to be an independent third-party company, so unless you do a manual comparison between big UK buyers, you would think it's a no-brainer to sell with GoldSell.

Goldpricecomparison may or may not be independent from GoldSell, but it seems they engage in shady practices to build a sense of trustworthiness, including previously displaying fake endorsements from two big UK consumer organisations: MoneySuperMarket and Which?. It looks like the Trustpilot score is also fake.

The author of the blog also tested GoldSell's price claims ( they paid 53.7% of spot), but I am more interested in the comparison angle. Can any of these price comparison sites for gold prices be trusted? Are they all owned by gold dealers? Seems like a massive problem for the inexperienced seller. Is there more regulation for this outside of the UK?

Game Of Thrones 50p, Star Trek 50p, More Lord Of The Rings + The Snowman

New Proclamation published on the Privy Council website lists a whole host of new UK 50p coins, presumably due out in the coming months.

Looks like we can expect:

  • Game Of Thrones - Dragon 50p
  • Game Of Thrones - Night King 50p
  • Lord Of The Rings - Sauron 50p
  • Lord Of The Rings - Frodo & Sam 50p
  • Star Trek - Enterprise 50p
  • Star Trek - Vulcan Saulte 50p
  • Snowman 50p - the inevitable Christmas release

I do think we're getting a bit far from the British themes with some of these, but I am excited about the Game of Thrones coins - what do you reckon?

Base Metal Error 2026 Britannia Compared With Standard 1oz Silver Britannia

👀 Spot the difference - cupronickel 2026 Britannia error on the left, standard silver bullion Britannia on the right. The colour difference is very apparent in the hand. The base metal example shows some signs of toning.

I think these have been discussed on here before, but there are 209 of these error 2026 Britannias confirmed to have been struck on a cupronickel Five Pound blank. They are just starting to trickle out on the secondary market, with some huge prices being achieved on eBay.

Mods - could we get an error coins tag?

I'm currently recruiting for a Trainee Valuer to join The Britannia Coin Company in Wiltshire on a full-time, in-office basis.

Obviously, if you're browsing this subreddit, you have some interest in coins and maybe precious metals, but what we're ultimately after is someone interested in growing their knowledge with a view to developing a career in numismatics.

If this is of interest and you have experience in customer-facing roles, decent IT skills, and are looking for work in the South West, it would be great to hear from you.

I can answer informal questions here or by DM, but application details and a full job description are online here: https://britanniacoincompany.com/about-us/careers/

(Hope this is allowed! Random photo from what's on my desk today - 2oz gold Raphael Maklouf Portraits of a Queen - our first exclusive release as Royal Mint partners.)
