Desperately need advice on how to sleep less and stay awake, it’s ruining my relationships

For years I’ve had an issue with falling asleep as soon as I get comfortable anywhere. If I am in bed trying to relax, no matter when it is, I will sleep, so I try to not be in bed. I have a gaming PC setup so I always try to be there instead, but I fall asleep in my chair even sitting upright. I can have my lights on, audio playing in my ears, I’ll be drinking caffeine, even mid conversation, I will fall asleep. It happens especially when I try to watch things. I have fallen asleep at work, in public, it doesn’t matter.

I don’t know what to do as I am in a long-distance relationship and it’s seriously affecting both of us. The only time I get to have with my partner is talking on the phone, playing games, or watching shows / movies together. We both love watching things, especially together, and we used to bond over this heavily but it’s reached the point where most of the time I can’t even get through a 40 minute episode of something.

It also affects my relationships with my friends and family as I will sleep through calls from them, sleep through them trying to talk to me, or be unable to wake myself up for plans.

I know this isn’t something I can just have a quick fix for but I really need suggestions on how to keep my mind occupied while I try to talk to my partner, mostly. I can see how much it is hurting them and I feel so horrible and guilty inside even though I am aware it’s not really my fault.

I’m aware this is something I need to see a doctor about as it’s obviously more serious than just sleeping a lot, but I don’t have health insurance and can’t afford any medical care unless there is an immediate threat to my life. I don’t want a huge fix everything solution, I just want to know how to keep myself up when I am trying to relax at home. Any advice at all is appreciated, but if you are going to tell me to see a doctor, it won’t do anything for me as I already know I need to, but I’m not in a position where I can right now.

Predicted a phone call seconds before it happened?

Just want to say before the story that while it is understandable if this post gets removed under the technology glitches rule, the fact that I checked the call log to see that there was nothing incoming for the past 8 hours, as well as the other person in the story clearly stating to me that they did not experience the same thing I did, I don’t believe that this post really falls under the category of technology glitches.

Yesterday I (21F) was at work, I work a manager position in food service. We have one single main phone in the building that we use for all incoming calls. It sits on one end of the front of house, and I was working on the far other side. I had one other employee on the floor with me, who was closer to the phone, but we have a policy that only managers and supervisors will pick it up. While helping a customer I heard the phone start ringing so I asked them for a moment to go answer. I walked all the way across the floor and picked up the phone only to look at the screen and see that there was no incoming call. I just assumed that whoever it was cancelled the call, so I opened the call log to check out of curiosity. But the most recent call was from 8 hours earlier in the day.

After this I turned to my coworker, who I mentioned the situation to. I was laughing at myself a bit and said that I thought I heard the phone ringing and must be going crazy, she laughed as well and jokingly agreed that I must be because she said she did not hear it despite being much, much closer to the phone than I was (she was standing about 5 feet away while I was maybe 30 feet away). This interaction between us took less than 10 seconds, then I reached to set the phone back into its place upon which it IMMEDIATELY started ringing the second it left my hand. The other employee stared at me with shock and I stared back because, literally wtf? This is the first time something like this has happened to me and it left a really weird feeling in my body.

And in case anyone is interested, the call was absolutely nothing important at all.. it was a little kid prank calling and asking to order the whole menu lol. Also, this whole situation took only 15-20 seconds, from the second I heard the first “fake” ring to the time it actually started ringing. I also want to reiterate that this could definitely be explainable if my coworker heard the phone ring the first time as well, but she was essentially right next to it and heard nothing until the second time when it actually rang.

Anyone know a bagel brand I can buy in-store that contains sunflower seeds in their everything bagels?

Thomas quietly stopped including them.. I have been eating an everything bagel with cream cheese every single day for about 18 years, usually Thomas, so I immediately noticed recently. The sunflower seeds in the dough were my favorite part :( Now wanting to look for different brands to try! I obviously understand I can make my own but I don’t have a ton of free time, like ever, to cook or bake much. Also love buying local whenever I can so I understand this is a good option too but I’m just trying to find something convenient and reliable :c

The blue spirulina powder is disgusting

It tastes like play doh.. and separates so quickly. When you take a sip of your drink it’s like taking a big gulp of pond scum 😭 We made samples of the new drinks and this picture is the refresher in sample cups after ~5 minutes of sitting. Imagine what customers are going to think when they mobile order and come to pick it up 10 minutes later. Did they even test this like at all?

Please help how do you get the disgusting fixations out of your head

I saw a picture of a really horrific looking moldy Dorito online, I scrolled past it as fast as I could but my brain latched onto it and I keep seeing it in my mind. I am almost crying because it won’t go away no matter what I do or think about to distract myself. I don’t think I’ll be able to eat for a long time because the disgusting mold is all I see when I think of food or of anything.

My mind is spiraling so badly and it keeps trying to take the thought and turn it into worse ones, forcing me to imagine how it smells or the texture or how it tastes. I feel so much nausea. And I’m starting to get really scared because I think my brain is trying to convince me that I’m the one who experienced the mold, not someone online, I’m aware enough right now to know it isn’t true and I only saw a picture but if I keep fixating on it I might forget what the reality is.

I really just feel so miserable I can’t focus on absolutely anything I’m just writhing around in disgust every muscle in my body is tensed up and I have so much anxiety. What do you guys do to make the looping thoughts go away please anything that works at all.
