GAP Australia website is live

The GAP website is now live for shopping in Australia, with free shipping for today.

All up, I’m happy it’s here, however the range is extremely limited and no difference from what’s already been available from Myer and The Iconic. It will be interesting to see if the expand the offering or start offering sales!

$100k super hit!

Today my super hit $100k!

Some insight: I moved to Australia in late 2019 at the age of 37, and my industry was decimated by Covid lockdowns here in Melbourne. I also had two employers who were reported to the ATO for unpaid super. I began salary sacrificing $300 per fortnight back in 2024, became an Australian citizen in 2025, and with some raises and a job switch, today I hit the $100k.

Thanks to this group for teaching me the ways of a salary sacrifice, International shares & growth! I’m keen to continue to salary sacrifice and enjoy watching my balance grow!

Custom ring: jeweler now selling exact ring

Several years ago, I worked with a well known jeweler and rep (frequently mentioned here!) on a completely custom ring for myself - down to specifics of stone cut/colour/size, the overall number of stones and metal type. It is not a common piece in any way that could cause confusion for being similar to others.

Recently I found the jeweler has had the exact piece to spec available for purchase on their website - this was never discussed or mentioned to me that it would ever be an option. If it were, I would have worked with someone else to make it.

Is this always the case? I am quite sore as it is a very meaningful and special piece to me, and it was never once mentioned they’d continue to sell it. It was quite a shock to come across the listing, as well as see purchase reviews from other customers who have bought it since.

Edit: I have sadly also found the ring listed on a few other moissanite and Etsy pages, from a google image search.

Where are the cannellini beans?

For the last two weeks, no cannellini beans are available when shopping online in Melbourne metro. Anyone know why?

Body cams, threats and fines: Pets in pubs have become a dog’s breakfast

What’s the general take on this? I love dogs, but there are an awful lot of entitled dog owners who tend to ruin things for everyone else. Do dogs really belong everywhere?

Bowen Yang’s Mapo Tofu

I’m not a big tofu fan in general, but mapo tofu is one of my husbands favourites. I’m am a fan of Bowen Yang, however, so I was happy to tackle this one - and I was surprised at both how easy it was and how much I liked it.

It comes together very quickly (provided you have no issues finding doubanjiang , Szechuan pepper and chilli powder) and could work really well for a budget friendly weeknight dinner. It’s certainly Szechuan peppery (obviously) but really tasty.

A+, high ROI, would cook again. Highly recommend.

…coming back, baby!

They’ve been hosting media events, and are set for a June 2026 comeback.

I’m unsure if that means Australia as well, but everyone keep an eye out - extremely likely to be a Sephora launch over Mecca too.
