I’m rewatching Trains with my kid and I’m wondering

The trains in the game supposedly run on the upper and lower level, the play room and kitchen being on the same level (right?) so Bandit is actually running/dealing with changing levels. i lived in a lot of major cities in the US so maybe our public transit works differently but

could you explain if there’s a joke in that they went multiple floors and didn’t explain it? Like how your trains work bc geography etc? (New York vs dc vs LA vs London is different sorry if im ignorant.)
