Is there any cheap Chinese console that plays Master System games?

I have seen many cheap consoles that play NES games, SNES, Sega Genesys, or both NES and SNES, and even the three at once, but I haven't seen any modern Master System clone. All these clones play in HD. Is there anything like this but for Master System games?

Does the Sega Mark III paddle work on the Master System 2?

I have Alex Kidd BMX trial (and probably more games that use the paddle) in an Everdrive cartridge. If I get a SM3 paddle, will it work on the MS2?

Cartridge Labels

Is there a website I can buy cartridge levels for a specific game? I would like to get the one for Alex Kidd in Miracle World. I found a website (ingeeknito) where they sell a bundle (114) for $21.99, but they don't sell them separately. I think that only one should cost a buck or even less...

A Master System emulator for MS-DOS that runs on a 386?

I'd like to run a Master System emulator on my 386. I tried Massage, but it won't work. It launches, but when selecting a Game it stalls even with DOS4GW.EXE. The TXT says that a Pentium is recommended. Is there any MS emulator that would run on a 386?

Is this setup feasible?

I have an XT-CF ISA card (picture 1), an Input/Output ISA card (picture 2) with the IDE port disabled to avoid conflicts, and a USB to ISA card (picture 3) on my 386 with MSDOS 6.22, and everything is working great.

My question is: Can I take the EPROM from the XT-CF card (1), put it on the empty socket of the USB card (3), which is labeled 27C256, enable the IDE port on the I/O card (2), and use an IDE to CF adapter (picture 4)? Will this work? The goal is to free one ISA connector.

What do you call these tracks that make contact when pressing a button on a gamepad (see picture)?

What name do they have? Are they available on easyEDA or do I have to manually make it myself by arranging the tracks in this pattern on the PCB and exposing the interlocked part? Thanks!

EGA vs VGA Speed

I've been programming some EGA graphics stuff on MS-DOS using C. I compile inside DOSBox and test it there first, then I move on to real hardware—a 386 SX-40. My 386 has a 512 KB VGA card (I don't have an EGA card or an EGA monitor), and the program ran really slowly. I reorganized my sprites to be stored in bitplanes rather than pixel-by-color, but I didn't see any improvement. Then I tried a 1 MB VGA card, and now it runs smoothly.

From what I understand, VGA emulates EGA (it doesn’t have the EGA hardware natively), so it's slower than a real EGA card. But an EGA card only needs 64 KB of video memory. My question is: does a VGA card really need more memory than an EGA card to emulate EGA? If I tried the same program on a real EGA card, would it run faster because there's no emulation overhead?

As a possibly related note, I've also programmed CGA graphics and had no issues running them on a 512 KB VGA card.

What IO ISA card is this?

I need to find out how to configure the jumpers, but I don't know what card this is. The chip is a UMC82C862, but many IO cards have this chip. I don't know what information on the board can help me identify it.

How to make a cable for four floppy drives?

I have these two quad-floppy controllers ISA cards. I haven't got them to work yet, but I'll figure it out later. My question today is about the cable the one on top (yellow bracket) uses. Both have the same firmware by Sergey Kiselev, but the white one has two floppy connectors units 0&1 and units 2&3. The one on top has only one connector and the guy who sold it to me says I must make a special cable but he didn't give me more details. So how can you make a cable for four units coming from one single floppy connector? The connector has pins for unit A/B and motor A/B, and that alone cannot select from four units.

Difference between CF-2 and CF2-D 3" disks

Is there a real physical difference between CF-2 and CF2-D 3" disks?

CF-2 is for use in single head drives and needs to be flipped. CF2-D is for use in double header drives. The former has a capacity of 180Kb per side. The latter has a total capacity of 720Kb. However, I read somewhere that it's basically the same media, and one can be formated as the other.

Anyone knows?

[Disney Aladdin] Why did he have to wish to be a prince again?

His first wish is to become a prince, his second wish is to be saved from drowning, then his third wish he has to decide whether to become a prince or to free the genie. But he already is a prince, nothing that happened cancelled the first wish. And the fact that the genie obeyed Jaffar for a while shouldn't cancel Aladdin's wishes. That would mean that, every time the genie has a new master, every wish he granted to his former masters is cancelled, which doesn't make sense. So why isn't Aladdin already a prince at the end of the movie?

How to tell controller versions apart?

I want to modify a Sega Genesis controller for a DIY project and it'd be easier if it was the one that has a DIP (through-hole) chip, because I need to remove the chip and solder cables in the holes. However, I see there's a DIP version and a SOIC version. Is there a way to tell them apart by serial number or something so I can buy the one I need?

[My cousin Vinny] What's Vinny's name?

I saw the movie 30 years ago, so I don't remember this detail that I noticed watching clips that popped up on my YouTube feed...

His name is Vinny (Vincent) Gambini, and the judge addresses him by Mr Gambini. But there's this scene where the judge tells him he called NY and asked about Jerry Gallo, and Vinny says he's not Jerry Gallo, he's Jerry Callo with a C. But isn't his name Vinny Gambini?

Redirect unit A: to unit B: on MS-DOS via software?

TLDR: Is there a way to redirect unit A to unit B on MS-DOS 6.22 via software? Maybe using the DEVICE command on CONFIG.SYS?

Long story:

This is an industrial 386 board inside a very small case with limited space, it has a 3.5" floppy drive connected to unit B: because it has a very short ribbon cable without the twist. There are only two connectors on the ribbon cable, so no chance to make it unit A:, and the other ribbon cables that I have are too long for the small space in the case. I'm used to the 3.5" FDD being A: so I always do A:, wait for MS-DOS to tell me it failed, then remember it's unit B: and do B:, until I repeat the error again and again... It's mildly annoying. So that's why I want to redirect A: to B: via software (maybe keeping B: as-is so both A: and B: access unit B:).

Log pot vs antilog pot

I want to control the volume of an internal PC speaker (a beeper). The speaker is 8 ohm. After some research I found that the best option is an antilog potentiometer, however I only have a 10K logarithmic potentiometer. However, I found that a logarithmic potentiometer will work just as great if connected in "reversed." I'm attaching the two circuits (one with the log pot and the other with the antilog pot), but to me they are the same circuit. The difference is the wiper is connected to the positive of the speaker in one and to the signal in the other, but effectively, it's the same circuit. Is there something I'm missing?
