Look at all these people playing Quake 3 right now

Just screencapped this a minute ago. We've got FFA, 2v2 on freeze, and the Church of Quake is doing CTF. Next weekend there's a CTF event that's always full. Edit: By "full" I mean well-attended, there will surely be room on the server for all who come.

Send message/question via MyEDD

Can anyone direct me where to go in MyEDD to send a message or inquiry? I was recently able to send a message in the UI section a question answered, and get a response within a few days. I want to do this again but it seems the option to do so has disappeared--or I just can't find it! Everything seems to be telling me to use the phone.

SOLVED: It's Inbox > Contact Us link under the page title "Inbox" to get to the message system.

Employer appealing my UI -- tell me how it looks

I was working for a temp agency in earlier this year, and I was fired by their client--but not by the agency itself. The situation was that in a span of three days on that assignment, I worked the first and third days, but had to call-in for the second day. After the third day, I was informed by the agency that my assignment "has been ended due to your production/quality of work." When I asked if it was because I missed that day, they would only refer to the client's official statement of "production/quality of work", however did emphasize "maintaining good attendance" is important. I still have the text thread of this conversation.

The shifts began at 4am and I hadn't had gotten any sleep since previous day's shift, so I didn't feel safe even driving to work, let alone working in a warehouse. I notified the supervisor before the beginning of the shift, and the agency when their work hours began.

My claim began in before I had this temp position, because of another job loss. I reported this income and the EDD called to ask about this job specifically when following up on my claim. I gave them this same explanation, that I was dismissed for "production/quality of work", and on that basis they continued to certify my claim and give benefits. That was about two months ago. It's my understanding that that reason isn't grounds for denying a claim--and indeed my claim was granted. However, if they change their tune and say it was due to a no-show, I can lose my claim and be accused of fraud, if they convince the EDD that I left voluntarily. They may have additional documentation to show at a hearing which I can't refute with my text thread.

I think my side is supported by the fact that I worked another whole day after the day I missed. My supervisor continued to give me assignments and training, and never made an issue with the missed day. When I mentioned it, she said "no don't worry about it". However, while I can prove that I worked that third day (since I was paid), I can't prove anything between myself and the supervisor. I also no longer have the text thread in which I notify the supervisor of my absence. I can, however, show that when I was notified of the dismissal it made no reference to a no-show, but only performance.

TL;DR -- Staffing agency is appealing my UI claim, I was officially dismissed for "production/quality of work", but may have actually been for attendance; and have evidence supporting the former.

ETA: Added that my claim began before this work assignment in question.

ETA2: I just filled the form out to "re-open" my claim, although the claim status didn't actually tell me it was closed, it merely says "you may need to re-open your claim", so I filled it out anyways. I had to put the information for this employer as the last time I had work, and hopefully they don't change their mind on certifying me. Constant bullshit.

Give me your best games for 4-player couch gaming

I'm joining a group of four for couch gaming soon, via a TV + Steamdeck and I'm soliciting retro game recommendations for 2-4 players, given this is a retro sub, however we'll also play more modern games available on Steam.

We will have RetroArch set up and are open to standalone emulators as well. I know RA can be finicky with multiple controllers but we plan to sort it out ahead of time so we don't waste the night on technical stuff.

None of the group are particularly good at fighting games (to my knowledge), so those are probably out. I'll nominate myself Metal Warriors for SNES, great vs mode (but only 2p). There's also Mario Kart: Double Dash which should run ace on a SteamDeck but I'm unsure of Dolphin support in RA.

Biolife deferred me for this, on one arm from Sunday's donation (5/17) >:(

It's my first bruising after donating twice a week since December, so I've been pretty lucky until now.

This is after three weeks of missing out on donating because of a "speed" test (?), aka protein test. They lost the initial sample, so they had to do another and again wouldn't allow me to donate until another week had passed. And they don't give any warning that the next appointment will be a speed test, they spring it on you so if you're counting on the money (why else would I be doing this) you get surprised by a cut to your expected income.

Leisure Suit Larry - Childproof, and sometimes Adultproof

I played this when I was around eight or so with a friend, on my dad's 286, and I recall trying to answer these questions as much as the actual game itself. I think my dad did answer the questions when he was there, but we also struggled on our own.

As a 40 year old now, I sure as hell cannot answer some of these without checking online--and perhaps many adults in 1987 couldn't answer the political or baseball questions!

(Took these screens from DOSBox, put in more of the questions than it actually asks when the game is loaded.)
