What motor do I have?!?!

Frustraited. Need to buy an impeller but can’t get a straight answer for my motor’s model number. Here’s everything I have:

1986 Bayliner Ciera 2150

Volvo penta V-8

The only info label I can find is on the transom, and it reads:

PN 867900 (painted in the first block)

8533 (stamped in the next block)

SN 710771

The engine itself has “GM 5.0 LG” and “SGI” cast into it (the internet seems to insist I got those letters in the wrong order, but I swear it’s not 5.0GL or IGS or whatever)

638 is cast near the bottom

there’s a riveted tag I can’t read but I attached a photo.

I keep hearing about these being AQ motor setups but have no idea where to find that. the Volvo Penta website is slick and flashy, but doesn’t do anything when I try to use it.

I don’t want to remove the pump to measure the impeller without knowing for sure I can locate a replacement. Help?!?!

What are these for?

the front doohickey on my 86 Bayliner Ciera 2150 has these two half-round steel strap things, and for the life of me I can’t figure out what they do.

this platform is where the anchor can be winched up, and the cleat at the bottom of the photo is generally where I attach said anchor, but to each side are these things that might be obvious to everyone but me.

Place to rent a cabin cruiser for a couple nights?

Looking to rent a small boat with basic sleep-aboard stuff (head, galley, shower) for a night or two on the river. Is there anywhere that actually does that? Everything I am seeing is just pontoons and day-sailers.

Where to buy Euro-style EMS clothes?

Just a general question for my colleagues on the other side of the Atlantic - where do y'all get those nifty high-visibility outfits?

USA medics tend to dress like police officers (black or dark blue pants, tactical shirts), and it's frankly kind of annoying. I'm trying to convince my department that we should follow the example of the medics I have worked with in Ukraine (which included German and Spanish and Estonian medics as well as Ukrainians), so I want to get some samples to show them and wear for a few duty shifts.

Do you always get your work clothes from your employer, or are there websites you shop at?

HHV still doing sketchy stuff

They are currently selling a "MICH / ECH BTE® Plus Ballistic Helmet"

https://www.hardheadveterans.com/products/mich-ech-hhv-bte-plus-ballistic-helmet

For the record - there can be no such thing. The MICH is a kevlar design, and the ECH is a UHMWPE design. They are similar in SHAPE, but they do not have the same material, design, manufacturing process, or performance.

Calling something a "MICH/ECH" is basically the same thing as calling your pet a "purebred cat/dog," or calling your vehicle a "two-wheeled semi truck 18-wheeler" or saying you are reading from a "old-fashioned ink-on-paper Amazon Kindle."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanced_Combat_Helmet_(United_States)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modular_Integrated_Communications_Helmet

A reverse Google image search from their catalog photo shows basically a kajillion other companies offering the same thing with the same weirdly-formatted name and same pictures (but generally at a way-lower price!).

I dunno why people insist on defending HHV. They seem to not just scam their customers, but overcharge them compared to other scammy drop-shippers that they compete with.

Current helmet prices?

Long story short - I'm heading over for my fourth UA trip soon, and need to replace my old-ass helmet. I'm in the USA, so we currently have tariffs applied to everything, which is making it way more expensive here. So I am debating just not bringing one, and buying one when I get there.

Can anyone tell me what the current prices are for reliable helmets in UA (or Poland. I almost always enter UA by first flying to Krakow).

(for context - I'm not military. I'm a civilian medic who spends 95% of my time evacuating military people from STAB points. Thus, I don't have need of NVG mounts or big comm mounts. I'm fond of the old-style PASGT helmets, but I'd be happy with a high-cut as long as it had those ear-cover armor plate things they sell at the big M-Tac store in Dnipro).

Yeah, I know, it's silly, but still - I have a giant handlebar mustache and it needs to be trimmed, and I need a barber (or hedge-trimmer with ambition?) to even it out. I can't do it in the mirror.

Halp?
