Chicago Marathon in <5 Hours!!

I’m 18 and i just ran my first marathon ever. The old me in may would’ve heard that and gone absolutely crazy. at this very present moment though I regret my decision. even after all the training I’ve done the heat has caused me to push myself even harder to achieve this goal time. my legs are in excruciating pain and I hate everythin. right now i wish I never got into running because the physical pain is too much to bear and the adrenaline is wearing off. I had to be carried by medical workers and nurses and pushed in a wheel chair. I hate everything right now literally it hurts.

hopefully in due time I will appreciate the effort I made today but god fucking damn it why did I even sign up for this shit.

2 week vs 3 week taper?

Title. Race day is 8 weeks out for me and so far my longest run has been 15 miles with my long runs increasing by 1 mile every week and I've been having cutbacks every 4 weeks.

If I taper at week 6 my longest run would be about 20 miles vs being 19 miles at week 5.

I feel like I should increase my increment to 2 miles as I am approaching the period where I'm peaking mileage and have my longest run be closer to 22 miles instead. This would also follow closely to my 10% rule that I've been following since I'm close to 20 miles.

So yeah this is kind of 2 questions in one post. When do I start tapering and should I increase my increment?

I can’t stop cleaning

I don’t know I’m on a trip with quite a few of my friends and I’ve been the only one trying to keep it together. I’m not really emotionally stable and I did have a breakdown in one of our hotel rooms (we have 2 cause there’s 10 of us) and it was really awkward afterwards.

I started to obsessively clean both the rooms afterwards for the past 3 days. It eased my anxiety cause I did it while listening to music and I felt good about myself. then I think I took it too far..

I think I woke up some people and I also ended up making a few more mistakes and half of them got mad at me for cleaning without asking. I just felt confused cause I thought that people shouldnt hate on free cleaning. and then yeah I sort of understood why because I went non verbal for most of it and was relentlessly trying to make things tidy.

I can find myself carrying this habit once I’m back home and then later once I move to college into my dorm. on one hand I do like the fact I get to have things clean and curb my anxiety but on the other hand I’m afraid of pissing off people. in my eyes I think I am doing the right thing by cleaning without asking but maybe that’s not so right after all.

First half in the books!

I’m training for the Chicago marathon and I just completed my first long run of a half marathon distance! My completion time was about 2:42:00 and I had to do it in Lisbon, Portugal. I’m currently on a Europe tour right now and I still needed to train.

had to get up at 5:30 AM it was brutal. I love this city but holy FUCK it’s terrible for running. very Bumpy course with lots of slopes and inclines and poorly paved sidewalks. I ended up gaining about 400 meters of elevation (1.3k feet). Chicago is super flat so I am not used to this kind of terrain.

Anyways yeah that was pretty uncomfortable. Can’t wait to do it all again next week!!

Spiky Looking Yolk

Hey Weird Eggers! Was cooking breakfast this morning and my yolk was kinda spiking. There’s a comparison photo attached. I think it’s ice crystals or smth cause it was really cold when I ate it near the yolk. it was also popping more violently when I cooked it

Cant send SAT scores (and a small angry rant)

Help I'm on the collegeboard website and everytime I click the "go to send scores menu" button it tells me to sign in and after I sign in to the account I have to click the send scores menu button and then it takes me back to the sign in page and it keeps logging me out.

This stupid dumb ass website I mean seriously what the fuck how do you even let this happen as a web developer?? I am stuck in an endless loop of trying to submit my scores. Nearly a year after taking my SAT I thought I would be done and never have to worry about this but apparently my university hasn't received all my scores and I have to bite the bullet and spend another $15 on sending fees. If I can't do this by the end of the month my offer of admission is rescinded. FUCK YOU COLLEGEBOARD! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE MY LIFE SO DIFFICULT EVEN AFTER GRADUATING HIGHSCHOOL??

Heart Rate climbs to Zone 3 and Zone 4 during Easy Runs

Hi I'm 17 and fairly new to running. I'm training for the Chicago Marathon which is this October and started training about early May. I have an issue where my heart rate keeps climbing up to zone 4 when I do my easy runs which are currently just 4-5 miles at easy pace (11:15 - 12:00) miles. The first mile will usually be 15% zone 1 and then 30% zone 2 and then the rest is zone 3. However after the first mile it then ends up being about 40% zone 3 and roughly 60% zone 4 for the rest of the run. I make sure to keep my pace consistent and run during days where its not too hot or humid.

I heard that its important to stay in zone 2 for your easy runs so I'm wondering if this will just naturally get better and my easy runs will become zone 2 despite me training in higher heart rates. I suspect that its my watch thats giving me false readings but I'll try to talk to myself and notice that I can like hold an imaginary conversation for only like a minute (i do it when im alone so i dont look crazy lol)

Do I just need to wait for my heart to adapt or should I pace myself even slower or do run-walk cycles?

I'm running the Chicago Marathon!!

I finally got in for a charity team for the Chicago Marathon. I'm 17 and never ran a marathon before. There's always a part of myself that doubts who I am and what I am capable of but I really think I can do it. I was already 2 weeks into training for this thing and my marathon is early October. Some people close to me don't think I can do this and that I'm just pretending to be someone I'm not and it hurts. I just feel like people I am friends with should just be.. you know a bit more supportive...

It's just the external hate I receive that makes it difficult for me to fully believe in myself.

My first time cooking a filet. I was pretty nervous since this would be a very expensive mistake if I messed up. On top of that I could've disappointed my friend very heavily so the stakes couldn’t be any higher (pun unintended).

I’d say I absolutely nailed it. (Medium rare)
