Today something weird happened with my Amazon return pickup.

The pickup is officially scheduled for tomorrow.
Item was worth 20k INR.
But today, some random guy with a delievery bag attached to his motorcycle showed up at my door saying he was from Amazon and had come to collect the return.
What made it shady:
He just rang the bell. No call, no message beforehand.
My dad opened the door and asked him to call the registered number.
The guy mumbled something my dad couldn’t understand.
He did show the product image on his phone though.
Then I went downstairs and told him, “The pickup is scheduled for tomorrow.”
He replied:“Gaadi aaj aayi hai, isiliye aaj aa gaya.”
Still felt off to me because every Amazon pickup I’ve ever had involved a call first.
So I told him:“Come tomorrow. It’s scheduled for tomorrow and I need some time.”
Now I’m wondering:
Was this actually a legit early pickup attempt?
Or was I about to get scammed?
Has this happened to anyone else?
