Unpopular Opinion: Keep chat on always

I know a lot of you like having chat off so you avoid toxicity. I get that. However, I’ll never turn it off because I find the toxicity in this game WAY too funny. Knowing someone out there is getting extremely mad about hitting a ball with a car in the right way? Hilarious. I don’t find it distracting at all. In fact, it’s led to some of the best moments I’ve had in RL

Is there a name for this specific mech?

Too lazy to find a clip of someone doing it rn, but you know when someone goes for an aerial close to the ground and they air roll a bit so they can flick the ball with the corner of their car? Is there a name for specifically that so I can study up on it? No worries if not. I wouldn’t be surprised if that just falls under the umbrella of “air roll during aerials”

EDIT: Did a little more digging and the closest things I could find were “air roll shot” and “angled aerial”

How am I supposed to feel again?

Hi, friends. At 28 years old, I find myself declining in all aspects of life. I vape heavily, my diet is terrible, I don’t exercise, and I go to sleep extremely late every single night. I’m on the computer constantly and don’t get out much in general. This has been the norm for me for many, many years, and while I didn’t notice it at first, my mental and physical faculties have started to really suffer.

With that in mind, the solution before me is obvious: DON’T do those things, yeah? Eat better, sleep better, quit my addictions, etc. But as many of you likely know, it’s not easy to change yourself in practice, especially in the long-term. I think what I need right now, more than anything, is a reminder. What does it feel like to be completely healthy? Will I stop feeling tired in the middle of the day? Will my thoughts become more fluid? Will my motivation peak? It’s embarrassing, but it’s been so long that I forget what that feeling is, and knowing again will give me a reason to try.

Why is Casual suddenly so hard?

Booted up the game but didn’t feel like playing ranked, so I opted for some casual 3s. Does casual have a hidden mmr that scales differently? Because my god, either I got much worse since my last session or I was playing with some mechanical demons

Is your main also your best character?

Kinda silly because I’m sure this is true for most people. But for me, the hours I’ve put into my main are not reflected in my results. I have so much knowledge about Peach, and I’ve put so much time into her mechanics as well, yet I win much more often with characters like Incin or Roy. Believe me when I say… I WANT Peach to be my best character, but it simply isn’t true for me. Anyone else experience this?

I’M DRUNK AND I’M FEELING DOWN

HEY GAMERS. I play Peach. I reeeeally want to enter a local tournament next week. But I was just playing online and I’m realizing that I SUCK WITH MY MAIN. Such a frustrating feeling. I’m getting so unbelievably gamed on, lads. Granted, I do have the excuse of Peach being hella hard online, but still. How am I supposed to show up with this Peach next week without giving away sets on a silver platter? Just tryna vent tbh

What’s the point of rotating when no one else rotates?

Hey there! Newer player here (Plat 2 ~200 hrs). Lately I’ve been putting emphasis on my positioning in games while also learning about proper rotations, and it’s made me notice a persistent issue in my matches. I’ll rotate back after contesting as first man and everything will feel fine, but in that moment BEFORE I contest, I simply cannot trust my teammates to be defending. They’ll either be double committing or they’re off getting boost in New Zealand or smth. It makes me feel like I should throw out rotations altogether and just sit in net. At least that way I can always be there when things go south. What’s the consensus on this, both at my rank and other ranks? In other words, how do I deal with my trust issues lmao

I have a fun idea

It’s always your teammates’ fault, right? You’re stuck at your rank because of them, huh? Well, it would be fun to put that to the test, I think.

It’s a long shot that people will actually follow through on this, but if you think the above applies to you, I’d love it if you could comment your rank below and party up in game with other commenters of your rank. If we put all the “my tm8s are trash” people together, I’m REALLY curious to see what will happen. Comment the results of these games too, of course.

So, I’m not very good at this game. Not good enough to play in tournaments, at least. Most of my characters hover around 11-12 mil GSP. Playing online, as we all know, can be a slog because it’s full of sweats and facing wall after wall of bs can be frustrating.

Well, tonight I was reminded that I’m actually not too shabby at the game; I’m just constantly comparing myself to a small percentage of people who grind it. I went to a party and smash was set up, so naturally I joined in and proceeded to convincingly cook everyone. And yes, I know, “they’re casuals so it’s not fair”, but that’s kinda my point. MOST people are casuals. It helped remind me that I’m really not doing too bad and I shouldn’t get so down on myself

Hey there! I wanna show my gf this show but I’d like to try and hook her with a great starter episode. Do you think S1E1 is there best starter to get someone interested or can you think of a better one?

Hey guys, wanted your take on this. I’ve been learning to air dribble from off the wall. Practice is going decently well, but in actual games I have trouble finding an opening to execute on that practice. For the setup I learned (I assume it’s pretty standard), I take the ball up the wall slightly diagonal, leaving a small gap so I can launch when the ball reaches its apex height. However, often times I’m getting stopped in my tracks by the opponent. My question is, what other setups can I use to achieve a similar launch? Even if they’re less reliable, I’d still like to hear about em. Thanks!
