Came across this city pop song. Parts of it are yachty, parts of it sounds like Neverending Story. Very synthy and out of the pocket in terms of year... the definition of borderline. I like the song though, def smooth... Is this a 51 or a 49?

Yes, yacht rock has a full on peer reviewed scientific paper written about it. Science confirms that yacht rock is real! The paper even cites the yachtornyacht podcast.
I’ve been noticing that submissions have been kinda poor in the last few weeks on the podcast. I know that there are quite a few potentially high scoring songs that have yet to be rated. The rest of the Eric Tagg album for instance… a bunch of Al Jarreau and Brenda Russell songs are also prime candidates if people would just submit them.
So let’s give potential submitters some ideas to improve the submissions and comment on this thread unrated songs that you think would score really high.
I’ll start with “Thank You” by Brenda Russell from 1981. Her 2 albums from 81 and 83 are almost all yacht IMO.,
