What Dubai-specific factors affect recovery?
Ive been tracking my recovery over the past couple of months on my whoop and noticed a patterns
- traveled to Lebanon and sleeping in the mountain: my recovery goes up to 95%+ boosted by a high heart rate variability
- traveled to Greek islands; my recovery over four days was: 95% > 85% > 96% > 93%
- back to Dubai and my recovery has been hovering around 60%
Obviously there’s a lot of factors involved but wondering if the lower recovery has anything to do with 1) hot and humid weather that affects the body, 2) air quality outside, 3) indoor air quality in buildings

Rant about dealership maintenance
Context: took my BMW x3 (2019) model for regular service at the dealership. It’s out of service package but still prefer to use dealership for regular service. It’s psychological.
They did the service and recommended a few things that need to be fixed as part of overall vehicle check.
One item they told me to fix was to replace FOUR tire pressure sensors. I was like why four? How is it possible that all four sensors fail at the same time. They quoted me ~ AED 3,800 for that. I didn’t trust that.
Took my car to a repair shop specialized in German cars and told them I need to change four sensors. They came back to me saying only one is needed and showed me proof (attached). They quoted me AED 236 for that.
Firstly, very disappointing they told me four needed immediate replacement. Surely when one fails maybe others fail but I think it’s very sneaky and unprofessional to tell me to replace four when there’s no guarantee the other 3 sensors will fail soon. Sensors can last up to 10 years. When I go to dealership sure it’s a business that’s want to sell but i would have expected more professionalism and transparency in their approach.
Secondly, how is the price quoted so different? It’s just a sensor with programming. If I used the repair shop for all four sensors it’s AED 950 and those thieves quoted me AED 3,800. They’ll probably say ‘oh it’s original parts’ but who cares about that if I get warranty.

Looking for a compact SUV around AED 180k
Used preferably with low mileage and fairly new like 2023 onwards. Found the following options:
- Lexus NX 350h Premier
- Jaguar F pace
- BMW X3 (not preferred as I currently drive one)
- Infinity QX50/55
- Maserati greyscale (heard bad things about this)
- Genesis GV70
I don’t drive that much but want something that’s generally reliable and comfortable a bit of luxury.

Advice for 7 day trip to Greek islands
Wife and I traveling to Greece for a week towards end of July.
Situation: we want to visit a few islands in the cluster around Paris Naxos Milos Mykonos. We also want to visit Chania for a couple days.
Complication: we arrive and leave from Athens. Our current itinerary is to arrive in Athens then take a ferry to Naxos for a few days and doing day trips. Then we want to take the long sea ferry to Crete that arrives at Heraklon and then take bus to Chania. But the issue is that day is such a waste in terms of travel. Any other options that go from central islands to chania directly?

What questions should I ask a Partner leading a practice in another firm?
Basically considering making the switch from one B4 to another. They have been poaching many of us and giving promotions. Directors to Partners. I’m currently exploring that. Game Idea: driving obstacle course in Lebanon
Coming from outside of Lebanon, driving here is quite fascinating. I think I’m over the road rage a bit but can’t help but imagine a basic video game that can depict driving in Lebanon.
Idea is simple, you need to drive different paths in fast time while also avoiding the typical obstacles you find on a Lebanese road. Each obstacle you avoid you get a set amount of points:
- avoid a Joura; 10 points
- avoid a scooter jumping in front of you; 20 points
- avoid and make way for a tail gater without a license plate trying to overtake you; 15 points
- avoid a luxury car driven by madame reversing out from a parking spot; 10 points
- avoid a suicidal mini bus driver swerving in traffic; 15 points
- avoid 3ammo crossing the road; 10 points
- avoid random beggar child crossing at a traffic intersection; 20 points
