SV650 as a third bike !

So my girlfriend has finally decided to get her motorcycle license, which I’m really happy about. Budget is a bit tight though, so she’ll be borrowing whatever I end up buying and hopefully doing her test on it too.

I’ve been looking at the SV650. Around here everyone seems to go straight for the MT-07, but I’ve always liked the character and sound of twins, plus the SV seems simple to work on and kind of has all the basics nailed down. Haven’t actually test ridden one yet since there aren’t many nearby, so I’m relying a bit on you guys here 😄

Current garage is a VFR800 and a DRZ400S. The SV would mainly be for her practice riding, but also for shorter fun rides, maybe some light track days and general messing around. I’d like something nimble and playful, which the VFR isn’t.

What else is it to take into consideration?

The low speed test is often what most fail here and what about the SVs low RPM assist? Is it a drawback here for doing crawling speed below 5kmph?

Anyone tried Knox modra yet?

I do touring and looking for a top layer above my mk2. How is this jacket? Theres 0 reviews yet and nobody vouched for it. Its open for orders from third party via my dealer I think but i cant try it on beforehand.

I do a lot of touring around Europe and I’m looking to pick up a new pair of gloves. I’ve gone through quite a few threads already but still can’t really decide. A lot of people seem to recommend sporty gloves, but they look a bit bulky to me.

I live in a small town with only one shop, and their prices are pretty steep, so I’d rather order online and try things at home.

At this point I’m thinking I might actually need two pairs?:

  • one for typical riding in around 15–20°C – something shorter, safe, and with really good feel
  • and another pair that’s fully waterproof, a bit warmer, and works down to about 10°C. I don’t mind sacrificing some feel here since it’s more for getting from A to B in worse conditions

Any recommendations? I’d like to keep it under €200 if possible.

Thanks!

I currently have a Healtech quickshifter. Would´ve worked fine but it interferes with my new power commander. Thinking about selling that and just getting the dynojet one. Does anyone have it and how does it look on the bike? I have the PC6.
