Kids before marriage

Hi all! I’ve been thinking about this because I see stories about people having kids with a boyfriend or fiancé and having struggles with (usually the man) supporting the child financially or raising them.

So what’s the deal with people seeing having a CHILD with someone as less of a commitment than marriage? There are obviously reasons to have a child “out of wedlock”, but the point of marriage is that the people are in a contract and it is way easier to hold the (usually male) other partner accountable for child support and caring for the child (not foolproof, but there is legal protection).

I don’t want to sound regressive or conservative, but the trend of seeing children as less of a commitment than being married is kind of concerning, because it leaves the children in a more vulnerable place. I guess the benefit is that if the relationship goes south marriage could make it harder for an abused partner to get out of the relationship, but…

Shouldnt people figure out if the relationship is going to work with commitment BEFORE having kids? I think part of the problem is people not using protection and having kids thoughtlessly; at least in the younger generation.

Curious to hear your thoughts and experiences!

Damaged bladder lining”

Hey friends, just wanted to keep you all updated with what Dr. Ryan Heer is telling me, if people are thinking about using Crossroads Integrative. For context ureaplasma didn’t not show up on my Microgendx test but my symptoms never went away after antibiotics.

He said my microbiome looked good (only thing was low level acinetobacter baumanni) which was kind of discouraging to me since I’m still in pain on and off and having foamy/bubbles in urine.

Im going to try all these bladder healing supplements and see if ureaplasma shows up when I re-test in 4-6 weeks. Maybe I’ll even do the Buhner protocol if nothing shows up by then.

Let me know what yall think!

Acinetobacter baumannii

Hey all!

Got my microgendx test back, and no ureaplasma detected, but there are resistance genes to both tetracyclines and macrolides, so Im wondering if that’s a sign that ureaplasma didnt get taken care of?

Also, does anyone have experience with acinetobacter? I see it’s often antibiotic resistant, but looks like my test didnt detect resistance. Let me know what yall think of these results while I wait for Ryan Heer to get back to me!

Hope you are holding up.

Reinfection poll

Hi all!!

I’ve been curious anecdotally how long haulers are being impacted by reinfections. Personally I didn’t get “bad” long covid until my second or third infection (only the first one was confirmed by test).

In this house we mask up N95 style, so I’m also curious to hear peoples experience with different levels of precautions helping prevent reinfections or not.

MY EXPERIENCE: I was living half normally and not masking with proper respirators and getting sick constantly in 2022-2023. I got POTS dysautonomia and fatigue from an illness I assume now was covid during the summer 2023 wave, and after looking online realized I had a ton of the classic long covid symptoms.

When I realized I had long covid I locked in and changed my lifestyle, wearing N95 everywhere indoors in public and sometimes around friends and family during waves. I have not knowingly been infected with any respiratory viruses since I became a full time masker, and in the past year my long covid has improved VASTLY (specifically after low fodmap/anti-inflammatory diet). I have a strong feeling if I was constantly getting sick I would not have been able to recover to 85% of my normal health. I now have a pretty wide energy envelope and am able to #LiveMyLife and do lots of fun activities, still wearing masks everywhere indoors in public for peace of mind. I wouldn’t trade my solitary year and a half resting for anything even though it was awful for my mental health. I truly don’t believe I wojld have recovered so much if I kept living as I was in 2023.

First period without IUD in 9 years

Hey yall!!

Removed my Kyleena IUD because I’m in the process of treating ureaplasma (booo), so I took it out because apparently IUDs can harbor bacteria.

Got my first IUD when I was 17, now Im about to turn 27 and Im having my first period without it. At first the blood was super dark brown and watery, but now it’s deep red and after having light periods spread out over a couple weeks with Kyleena I’m shocked by how much blood there is!

Any advice for getting back into the swing of normal periods? I used to get very heavy periods as a teen before the IUD so Im kinda scared LOL. I got a menstrual cup but I fear it might not be strong enough lol.

I’ll keep you all updated if this changes my mental health or anything (I was diagnosed with bipolar at age 19). Peace and love!

Lumbrokinaise

Hey all!

Quick update: Had my first appointment with Crossroads Integrative, with Kelly Logan FNP, not Dr. Ryan Heer. She was very nice and has chronic UTI herself. No gaslighting and they ordered me a lot of tests.

They prescribed Boluoke brand Lumbrokinase to take for two days before my first Microgendx test.

Anyone have experience with lumbro? Seems it’s stronger than nattokinaise, and works more specifically on fibrin biofilms. Not sure if I’ll take it for longer than two days before my test.

Also, would taking a binder (activated charcoal) along with the biofilm disruptor defeat the purpose, which is to stir up bacteria for the test? Scared of the herx reaction 😅

I also have Long Covid and I’m kinda scared it’s gonna put me into a flare up! Will keep you posted.

Supergirl theme feels homophobic /j

EDIT: I tried posting this in the official finch reddit but it got censored. lol.

(This post title is to be taken in jest, obviously Finch is not homophobic. But the critique is serious).

If the Supergirl theme is confirmed not a paid sponsorship (which is really weird, I kind of wish it WAS to justify its existence)…

Why the hell did this happen during Pride month? Finch is known for being LGBTQ+ friendly, supportive of the disabled community, gender fluidity, etc…

So why in the world is there not a Pride theme during Pride Month?

I’m extremely disappointed that we did not get fun rainbow gay items and instead are getting ugly superhero items that are giving us all a really weird vibe, even though it’s allegedly not a paid partnership . I hope the Finch team takes this backlash to heart and gives us a Pride theme next year. We all love this app and I will continue my paid membership but this theme has definitely left a weird taste in our mouths.

Edit: Getting a lot of backlash for suggesting it would be cool for Finch to celebrate and educate about minorities’ cultural history… Very interesting 🧐

Kirkmans or NAC?

Hey all, waiting for my test of cure (after 7 days doxy 1G azithromyacin sigh) but since I’m still having symptoms I’ll probably get back on antibiotics. I have an appointment with Crossroads Integrative next week so I’m waiting to hear what they have to say.

If I do have another round of antibiotics, I want to pair them with a biofilm buster, so Im wondering…

Do we think NAC or Kirkmans more effective? Or maybe a combination?

Thanks! I’ll update later with what Crossroads tells me, or if I end up going rogue and getting my own antibiotics from TelyRx.

P.S. I’ve been looking at the other Ureaplasma board and it’s insane how they are gaslighting everyone that continued symptoms is normal. So glad I found this forum.

Normal urinalysis

Hey friends!

Waiting a few more weeks for my test of cure after 7 days of doxy + 1000 mg axithromyacin. Still having the same symptoms of dyuria, slightly foamy urine, particles in urine, vaginal discomfort, random cramps.

I was wondering if you all have done urinalysis along with PCR tests (for those with urinary symptoms lije burning/foamy urine).

i had a urinalysis in January which showed lots of signs of infection; I just did one post antibiotics which has no abnormal markers.

Any experience with urinalysis results and if they’ve shown signs of inflammation/infection ?

Thanks! Hope you’re having decent days.

short treatment/ IUD removal after?

First time poster.

Finished a 7 days 100mg doxycycline 2x a day and one day 250 mg azythromiacin a week ago.

Still having symptoms (but tested positive for yeast so taking flucanazole). Concerned the treatment didn’t work and wasn’t long enough because I can’t really tell if it improved. I’ve been having symptoms since September (9 months of gaslighting YAY :D) that come and go, mostly burning pee and sort of foamy/white bits in urine, plus pain after sex.

Urogynecologist told me to get re-tested a week after antibiotics, which kind of makes me not trust her… because afaik test of cure is supposed to be 3+ weeks after treatment?

Also, nervous that my IUD might reinfect me?

Let me know what you lovely people think… should i ask for more antibiotics? Should I remove my IUD to avoid risk of bacteria lingering and reinfecting me?

Also, I gave my partner 7 days of doxy, but should I have him take the azithromiayn after as well? He was asymptomatic.

Thanks!
<3
