First car ever is a 2006 BMW X5 3.0i (LPG) at €6,500 a good buy?

Looking for honest opinions, not validation.
Context: First car ever. Buying with cash, no financing available to me, so no loan Budget is tight and I want to keep some cash aside after the purchase for running costs.
The car:
2006 BMW X5, 3.0i, M54B30 engine, 231hp
LPG (autogas) conversion + petrol
\~196,000 km
Automatic transmission (classic ZF, not CVT)
€6,500, sold by a dealer, includes current year's road tax + roadworthiness inspection valid for \~2 more years
The dealer says it is accident-free and in very good condition. It also has leather seats, sunroof, parking sensors, reverse camera and Android Auto.
I would have the car fully inspected by an independent BMW specialist before buying it.
Recently replaced LPG tank
Why I'm drawn to it: Reliable naturally-aspirated inline-6 (M54, not the problematic N62 V8), classic auto trans (no CVT risk), cheaper fuel via LPG, comfortable/tall SUV.
What worries me: The E53's cooling system (plastic radiator/expansion tank/water pump) seems to be a near-universal failure point by this age. Also want to confirm if it has the self-leveling air suspension (known weak point) or standard springs.
Questions:
Is the E53 3.0i M54 generally a good version to buy?
What are the most common expensive problems at this age and mileage?
How reliable is the automatic transmission and xDrive system?
What should be checked during a pre-purchase inspection?
How much should I realistically budget per year for maintenance and repairs?
Does €6,500 sound reasonable for this car if it passes inspection?
Would you buy it, or avoid a 20-year-old X5 altogether?
Would you rather have a Toyota RAV4/Honda CR-V from the same era/budget, even with less "premium" feel?
what else would you buy with 6000-7000 euros Budget?
Appreciate real-world experience,
especially from current or previous E53 3.0i owners.
