I designed a capybara that came out looking like a defect. He's mad about it. So am I...... a little.

This is Gerald. He's a capybara and he's not happy about it.

Here's the part I haven't really explained yet. There's a machine, and it makes one of these a day. I don't fully get to choose what comes out. So far every single one has arrived annoyed about something, and I've stopped assuming that's a coincidence.

Somewhere behind it there's paperwork. A classification. A disposition. I'm still reading it and I don't love where it's going.

Gerald's the first one I've let out. Four colors, about 62 mm, free profile on MakerWorld if you want your own: https://makerworld.com/en/models/3190288-grumpy-capybara-figure-made-by-the-machine

Check out this 3D printed Boulder, with the real roads, creeks and forest cover

Flatirons on one side, the street grid running out onto the plain on the other, everything at its true elevation. The orange is the actual road network, the blue is the creeks, the green is real land cover from satellite data, and the dark patches up top are exposed rock where the mountains are bare.

My favorite part is climb up flagstaff. You can follow the road up off the plain and into the mountain and see how much it actually gains. Pretty cool.

Printed as separate bodies so the colors are geometry, not paint.

Laser and light rig visualizer you can watch or play yourself - need beta testers to fuck it up.

Hey everyone

This is an example video from an app I've been building...  I wanted something that could simulate concert lights/lasers at house parties or small gigs. Beams, haze, lasers, moving heads... reacting to the track in real time. It's been getting a really good response so far and it's almost ready to actually grab, but I'm gonna need help testing it on real hardware, and figured this is exactly the right crowd for it.

So here's the deal. While we work the kinks out in beta, the whole thing's free. Pledge ANY amount during beta to help fund development and you get the main tier of the app for life. Partly as a thank you for helping test, but mostly because we're all fucking poor.

The part I think ya'll will dig most: there's a dedicated Laser rig (vids on the site), plus an auto-director that reads the pace and energy of the track and runs the show for you. It follows the builds, feels the drop coming, and slams it. Honestly it's pretty dope to just throw a set on and watch it direct itself.

Or take full manual control. Build and tweak your own looks from scratch, the palettes, shapes, motion, all of it, then perform them live off a launch board, firing looks, riding faders, and dropping beat-matched FX yourself. Let it run the show for you, or play it like an instrument. Your call.

I THINK I've got the engine running on any M1+ Mac now (lower-end machines won't look quite as good as it can.... whatever), but that's exactly why I need testers on all kinds of M-series Macs.

All the details and the beta signup, all that shit's on the site.  https://telaray.app

Made a Mac app that throws a full laser show behind your set, looking for local folks to try it

Yo Denver

Local dev and lighting nerd here. Been building this thing for a while and figured the home scene should get first crack at it. The video is an example of the laser rig (you gotta just imagine Fred again in the background), but there's quite a few other looks too.

It's basically a virtual light rig that runs on your Mac. Lasers, beams, haze, moving heads, all of it, reacting to whatever you've got playing. There's an auto-director that reads the energy of the track and runs the whole show itself, or you can grab full control and design and play it yourself.

Mostly I'm picturing it for small gigs, house parties, basement sets, that kind of thing. Throw it on a projector or a TV behind the decks and you've got a legit light show without hauling gear or hiring a lighting guy.

I'm gonna release the full beta soon (free) and anyone that beta tests it can pay whatever you want to pay for a lifetime license because we're all fucking poor.

Honestly I'm just trying to get it in front of people who'd actually use it and hear what ya'll think. Runs on any M1 or newer Mac (older/cheaper ones won't look quite as nice).

Anyone wanna mess around with it? It's all at https://telaray.app. Holler at me here if you've got questions or wanna see more.

Are CO lawmakers preparing for this? Postmaster general says USPS won't deliver mail ballots if states don’t give Trump admin voter rolls

They better be, or come November this is going to be an absolute disaster.

Phish "virtual light rig @ home" interface demo

Hey all.

Got a ton of cool feedback from the quick demo of this virtual light rig engine I developed.... a lot of people were asking how the interface works so I wanted to show it to you here.

Big bonus is I got SPHERE looks working.... it's unhinged and pretty cool.

Anyway let me know what you think. Will hopefully have something for people to download within a few weeks.

Anyone interested in something like this? Its a Kuroda lights visualizer...

So a few months ago I started developing a Mac-based music visualizer just as an exercise for learning advanced Mac graphics. Then the sphere happened and I went DEEP down the rabbit hole and ended up with.... this. At least I ended up learning a lot of about stage lighting?

You can customize the looks and smoothly switch between them... make them audio reactive, etc. Essentially you can either let them run along to the music or "play" them interactively.

Is this something anyone would be interested in? It's Mac only and requires a modern (M-series) pro-level mac. I'm just not sure if it's worth the effort to package up and distribute.

Next step is to push it in to full unhinged sphere territory, but I have al kinds of performance stuff I gotta work out before I get there.

Bike/Cargo Rack solution - Got the Yakima EXO rack fitting perfectly (Towsmart hitch + bracket to raise spare)

Ok, So ever since I got the bronco last year I've been using a hitch extension/dropper with my Yakima EXO rack in order to clear the spare tire. The issue is that using the extension HALVES the tongue wight (putting it just about capacity when loaded with a bike) and introduces a ton of wobble. I just never felt confident in it.

So I grabbed a Towsmart hitch to replace the stock hitch. The towsmart increases tongue weight and also extend the hitch tube to clear the spare so there's no need for an extension.

Once I installed the new hitch, I realized the spare tire (Sasquatch) didnt clear the EXO rack, so I installed a bracket to raise the rear spare 2" and now everything fits perfectly.

If you've been looking for a SOLID solution that doesnt require using an extender, for sure grab that towsmart hitch. It's an easy install - just need to drop the bumper and torque everything properly when installing.

Picked up 4 bags of bagged poo on the South Boulder Crk trail in James Peak today.....

Can you absolute slimeballs AT THE VERY LEAST just NOT bag your dogs shit? Like, the plastic bag of dog waste is maybe a million times worse than just not bagging it?

This is something I just will just never understand. Bagging it and leaving it? This is literally insane behavior.

Colorado Court of Appeals upholds Boulder camping ban against constitutional challenge - Just in time for Bolder Boulder and Creek Fest!

But seriously - does this clear the way for more meaningful enforcement of the illegal encampments?
