About 5 years ago I bought three drives for my ZFS pool on my ubuntu NAS box. Got everything setup and running and have been using it for the past five years with no issues. Mostly bulk storage for photos and movies, but also ran a Plex server for a while (not anymore). It is a RAIDZ1 with 3x 6TB WD blues.

Recently I setup a 3 node proxmox cluster of mini-pcs and was looking at using the ZFS box for shared storage, not CEPH, just shared storage for the cluster. Doing some research I found out about my mistake five years ago with the SMR drives and why that might be an issue.

I picked up 3x 8TB CMR drives and am thinking I should be able to just replace them one at a time, then expand the storage. I'm wondering how 'dangerous' to the data this might be? If I understand the risks with SMR its more about when it is being resilvered, and in this case it would be used as a data source, not written to.

Is this a good idea? One at a time replacement? If not what are my other options to move my data/pool over to the new drives?

Just took home a brand new Volvo XC60 and we are very pleased with it, except...

We started noticing an intermittent 'glitch' 'static' 'pop' 'crackle' sound from the stereo. It seems to happen regardless of the input source: apple carplay, sirius XM, etc... My searching has returned limited results, mostly people complaining that the stock sound system is 'garbage'. It does disappear when the volume is turned down and so far seems to be more pronounced when the volume is turned up.

Our other vehicle, a 2024 Audi S5, has a similar issue that is more [well documented on the internet](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q5-sq5-mkii-discussion-218/b-o-crackle-pop-noises-3012090/). I don't understand how all of these new vehicles make it to the market with these issues.

Is this something that anyone else has experienced with their Volvo and was able to resolve? I see a lot of posts about software issues, but most of them say the newer models with better processing have less issues. It will be going back to the dealer, but we went through a whole saga with the Audi where the dealer was basically useless and I fear the same here.

I'm looking to replace my aging water heater in my garage here in in FL. I'm interested in the efficiency of a heat pump hybrid unit. My unit sits in the garage, next to a utility sink with a drain. I have a plumber telling me he has talked to the city inspectors and draining condensate from an AC or a hybrid water heater unit into a drain is not allowed and must be drained outside. He said he believes it is because the condensate adds something to the water that is undesirable for the treatment plant.

I am not a plumber. I do know how to research. Everything I am finding says that Florida falls under the state codes. This is what I've found...

Condensate drains shall not directly connect to any plumbing drain, waste or vent pipe. Condensate drains shall not discharge into a plumbing fixture other than a floor sink, floor drain, trench drain, mop sink, hub drain, standpipe, utility sink or laundry sink. Condensate drain connections to a lavatory wye branch tailpiece or to a bathtub overflow pipe shall not be considered as discharging to a plumbing fixture. Except where discharging to grade outdoors, the point of discharge of condensate drains shall be located within the same occupancy, tenant space or dwelling unit as the source of the condensate.

I understand it cannot be directly connected to the plumbing drain for backflow protection. It must have an air gapped connection. Is a utility or laundry sink something different than the plastic sink in my garage? Perhaps the issue is not with the Florida code, but with the local municipality? I can't find any local information online. Any tips on what department to call? Do I call the water company? Any advice? Find a new plumber?

anything im missing from this list i should look at? help me decide what makes the most sense in the $40-$60 range, feels overwhelming
