WEBN global ETF

Can somebody please explain the push for WEBN, on paper there are many other better performing, older ETFs doing the same thing with the backing of a better institution than Amundi.

I think you’d be hard pushed to win the argument against VWRP, using data, or even iShares MSCI ACWI UCITS or Invesco MSCI World UCITS ETF.

What am I missing?

thanks in advance

Ctrader and c-bot algos, the easy route

It’s odd to me that no-one seems to mention the easiest, most flexible and dynamic method to get an algo model working.

Just about every broker tou can choose to route through ctrader, and with cbot you can code your algo in python or c#, to trade directly. There’s backtesting, a great optimiser tool and you can build a model which will learn and adapt over whatever period of time you set (live).

It’s what I use now and see nothing close to it.

My best effort to hedge Iran impacts and retain returns on investments (ISA pot)

Ok,

I’ve got to;
\- MXWS Global Developed MSCI ETF synthetic - 40%
\- IMFV Edge MSCI World Value UCITS ETF - 20%
\- IWMO MSCI World Momentum Factor UCITS - 20%
\- Bloomberg Enhanced Roll Yield Commodity Swap UCITS ETF - 10%
\- Algebris Financial Equity Fund - 10%

This I think balances off a core global ETF with the nicely offset couple of value and momentum, then exposure to diversified commodities and financials.

Potential other options I considered were:
\- Ishares ISHRS WORLD QUALITY
\- Invesco Markets IVZ RAFI ALL-WORLD
FNDMTL VAL UCITS ETF
\- Invesco Markets lil PLC IVZ RAFI ALL-WORLD
FNDMTL VAL UCITS ETF
\- Invesco STOXX 600 BANKS UCIT ETF
\- Artemis Global Income

All comments thoughts and feedback welcome \*other than ‘just do VWRL’

thanks

Any love here for MXWS as a developed global ETF

Seems to me a great proposition; 0.05% fees, synthetic so you save 0.15% US tax, solid returns on par with VWRP back 10 years - up 75% last 5 years.

Where’s the love?

I see no benefit at all to investing in medium/long term bonds - what am I missing?

The data is clear, bonds at best return BoE base rates + ~1%. In an inflationary environment and when interest rates are increased you get battered, think 20% drawdown. So neither are they are a safe haven, or deliver growth. My cynical take is that they purely exist to force pension equity to backstop government debt. Happy to hear counter arguments.

IGLT for example down 33% in 5 years

*I see the benefit of ultra short term bonds which don’t have massive drawdowns and are a safe haven

Looking for some career advice and this community has most concentration of execs I can think of

So Im in a bizarre situation where Ive been simultaneously told I’ve reached as high as I can and was knocked back for exco role - but also that Im vitally important. So they have proposed not to promote me, but instead guaranteed insane wage increases for staying which would mean that I earn more than if they just promoted me, by a lot, but in secret. What does this mean, why, what am I missing and why was the offer so ridiculously generous?

My aim is to retire by 45, so on that basis just taking the money helps facilitate that. But it doesn’t sit right with me and I’m looking at other opportunities, but at lesser wages.

Is identity confirmation (passport, driving license etc) required across the globe in btc now

Hi.
I blinked and suddenly the anonymity of btc has been wiped away. In my eyes this removes massive value and rails against whole ethos. Is this the same the world over?

Iran is specifically named once in Top Gun 2 - nobody agrees

So I re-watched Top-Gun 2 streamed through netflix last weekend. Categorically Iran is mentioned as the target country precisely once during the primary briefing scene. Of this I am convinced.

Yet speaking to others apparently there was a whole thing made about Iran not being mentioned and various articles also state this. Have I lost my mind, is this an alternate universe?

Gold trading - the rollercoaster that can make you sick, but a lot of fun

Gold is without a doubt the most dangerous, volatile, yet fun and potentially amazingly profitable asset class there is.

What I’ve learned:

  1. Nothing follows the zigzag, s/r cycle as clearly as gold
  2. Liquidity is amazing and means trading at any time of the day can be highly profitable
  3. SLs are an imperative as massive jumps or dumps are regular and expected
  4. If you can grab the coat tails of a dump/pump you can print money in seconds
  5. Gold is no longer highly correlated to oil, as it was in early stages of Iran period and generally historically
  6. It no longer operates like a safe haven or true commodity asset, more akin to crypto currency
  7. It reacts to market sentiment far more strongly than any other asset class
  8. Never trade against the trend - if its been dropping for weeks, dont try to catch that falling knife
  9. Mean reversion, smart money concepts, volume TA, supertrend and other s/r indicators lead the path
  10. Damn is it a lot of fun

General consensus on EMs, also Pacific ex china

What is the general consensus on EMs, also Pacific (essentially Japan and South Korea) ETS to downplay US exposure.

Im still unconvinced as volatility historically is off the charts for EMs despite last 18 months being very positive. Japan and South Korea is essentially semi conductor and downstream US tech reliant, so I see little point there. But interested in other opinions.

thanks

Diversified, tech downplayed maximised sharpe, alpha ETF portfolio

Hi all,

For the sake of simplicity, and without having to fold in the volatility of EM ETFs, I’ve not seen a more balanced portfolio than;
- 70% All world ETF, my preference MXWS to save the 0.15% US fees for a synthetic fund and only 0.05% fees on AJ Bell - VWRP also good
- 15% MSCI IEFM Europe Momentum (ishares)
- 15% IEVL Europe value (ishares)
This downplays the classic US tech over saturation and using both EUR momentum and value balance each other very well.

All told, volatility reduced to <11% per year, 1.2 sharpe, nicely balance alpha, beta, acceptable max drawdown and returns 9% CAGR, max drawdown 12%.

Happy to hear critique

thanks
