A bit different than bookbinding, but wanted to share my journal!

I make journals out of vintage books, this is my latest one and I’m feeling very proud!

it doesn’t look as neat as the binding type typically shared in this sub, I just prefer to be able to turn my cover around to the back when I’m writing (hope that makes sense)

Little Brother - I actually liked it

I watched Little Brother (on netflix, caleb has a side character role but is on screen a good amount) and actually liked it. I don’t usually watch comedy movies bc there’s not been a lot of funny ones lately. & if it weren’t for caleb, I can’t imagine myself being interested in a comedy starring two men (calesbians rise up) but I actually did lol & enjoy the movie (edibles are required though)

Is this a hot take? TV / movie scenes of women not enjoying sex feels feel adjacent to SA

I’m totally open to this being a ridiculous hot take, but figured this is a space where it’s most likely to be understood or even just discussed with a critical lens. I was watching a movie with one of those classic hetero sex scenes where the woman is just blank face staring waiting for it to end, but it is presented as a comical moment. “Oh typical, a man not pleasing a woman ha ha ha.” I know this is all too relatable for most if not all women who have had sex with men, so it is not coming with the same explicit or implicit intentions that SA scenes are, but still it feels horrible to watch? Like this is just normal, a woman’s body being used, and it’s laughed about like duh we all understand that! I’m not critiquing the portrayal of it by women who obviously know what it’s like, nor women relating and finding it “funny” because it’s such a shared experience and pathetic as fuck on men’s part, I guess good to see it portrayed as wow! he is such a loser. But the glazed over look on the women’s faces, waiting for this unenjoyable moment to be over, is so upsetting to watch to me.

My take is also influenced by being a lesbian & having been assaulted which I’m aware of! But very curious what others think.

Will phoebe release the album before tour? magic 8 ball speaks again

I asked magic 8 ball months ago if phoebe would announce an album before september, magic 8 ball answered “certainly.” I am haunted by the (seemingly merited) theories that she will not release the album until after tour, so I went back to my desk prophet. The mystic nature of the answer felt like phoebe was speaking directly to me, very “Lost” coded, very on par with all the uncertain havoc phoebe has wreaked on her fanbase. I am afraid for us y’all.

Opinions on “casual” and/or revealing clothing in session as a therapist

Hi there, I’m just starting my clinical year as an MSW student working with adolescents and teens, so I haven’t formed a solid opinion on this, curious what others think.

I’ve seen this video a few times on my for you page, this one in particular is a stitch with an LMFT saying “clients shouldn’t be able to confuse their therapist with a college student.” she says this specifically about the crop top and acknowledges a need to show up as your human self and dress expressively, but not in too revealing clothing.

Some comments are pointing out that professionalism is entrenched in racism, white supremacy, and misogyny. While in a lot of ways I do agree professionalism as the west regards it is entrenched in these things, I think I agree crop tops, “booty” shorts & very low cut shirts are too unprofessional and could make clients uncomfortable. As a therapist I would also feel uncomfortable in that clothing.

I wanted to challenge my perspective but remembered a therapist I had over zoom who would wear tank tops and be slouched on their couch + generally too casual in conversation, not clinical like I wanted. It was definitely a turn off and I stopped seeing them after a few months.

What do others think about this?

edit to add: absolutely do not care about the smoothie and no one should!

Press tour - what podcasts would you love to see phoebe on?

It’s likely phoebe will do very little for a press tour or nothing at all, which totally her right, but I would obviously love more phoebe interviews!

some of my faves are chicken shop, ziwe, MTV news, and the billboard one with conor! not to mention the various boygenius ones that are pure gold, i love how much more relaxed they all seem when together :”)

chicken shop interview iconic moment:
amelia “have you ever made a song that was so sad you thought it was too sad actually?”
phoebe “i mean yeah, but i put them out”

any podcasts you’d love to see phoebe appear on? if she does any kind of press tour I hope she does zane lowe! I love the questions he asks

(out there) prediction: phoebe as surprise guest at LACHSA on 5/30

Phoebe’s mom posted on her insta story about the 40th anniversary benefit show of LA county high school for the arts this saturday 5/30 at the Greek Theater! the flier has “surprise guests” under performing artists & as an alum, maybe just maybe, phoebe will be one of those guests!? phoebe’s mom was also one of the first more official confirmations of phoebe releasing music this year when she reposted an article claiming PB would release music in 2026.

what do y’all think? I know it’s out there but so is this whole pop up tour!

anyone want to jump ship when they *finally* get an ocd-specialized therapist?

I’ve been in therapy for 10 years and have suspected ocd for about a year, finally found an ocd-specialized therapist and was diagnosed a few months ago. I definitely relate to the whole “traditional talk therapy can actually worsen ocd symptoms!” and have absolutely been compulsively viewing therapy as the perfect place to seek reassurance. Lately I have been questioning if my current therapist is the right match (younger than I usually prefer, they use self-disclosure in a way I don’t love) but also wondering if I’m just uncomfortable and missing how past therapy fed my ocd what it craves. I think both things are probably true, but finding a new therapist who is queer, ocd-specialized & in network with my insurance is a nightmare 😭 Trying to resist just going with a therapist who checks all the boxes *except ocd (why are so few therapists experienced with ocd!??) Anyway,, anyone relate to this?
